The Palm House is new, occupying the old Nettie's crab shack space (and a crusty French place before that). They have a very interesting island menu and a price compelling happy hour drink and food list. The kids menu is also both interesting and price competitive. Nice to see a restaurant offering a food selection that is tasty and not typical Californian/Italian/Sushi/Burger/Bistro/Mex etc. I don't know of another restaurant in the area that is offering similar food.

The food was decent but service was pretty horrible. They forgot our appetizers and offered to bring them after our entrees came out. I had also noted on Open Table that is was the other three people in our parties birthday's. The waitress either forgot or was not given this information. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

This location seems to turn over often, and unfortunately neither the food nor service were good enough for this restaurant to survive. The service was some of the worst I have experienced in SF. The food is not appetizing, and by no means does it justify the prices.

I'm thinking these guys are still finding their rhythm. Really nice update to the old Nettie's, but the service was impossibly slow and the food was okay, but needs work. The hibiscus and jalapeño margaritas our waiter recommended were delicious, as were the fries. The chicken jerk sandwich was tasty, though bland, and the Cuban was tough and oily.

Everything was great- we tried the tri-tip hash, the waffles, and huevos. Those waffles have a special orange butter or unicorn dust embedded- they were delicious. Everything was. I should mention that the drinks are also pretty solid. They made a French 57 to perfection and the mimosas were right on target. No complaints. Service was excellent as well. If I had to force a complaint, it would be that the TVs are too small to watch games, but at least they have enough of them to find a view of. It is not a sports bar- I just wish it were.

This place is quickly becoming my go to spot on the weeknights. Every time I go in I feel like I'm on vacation. The food is excellent and unlike anything you can find elsewhere in SF- coconut prawns, red stripe beer battered fish and chips, guava pepper pork tacos - the list goes on and on. Also a big fan of their chipotle mango margaritas and their brunch. On Friday and Saturday night the bar can get pretty busy, so depending on whether you're into that you should time your visit. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. highly recommend this place.

We came here with a group of four hoping to try something different. We ordered the tostones, and short rib for appetizers. They were small, but delicious. Between our group we had two scotch bonnet steaks, the mahi mahi, and prawns. We also ordered a couple of drinks. All of the food and drinks were great and the steak melted in my mouth. My only complaint was the service. Our waitress had a bit of an attitude and seemed annoyed when we requested things from her. Ie water, if we could order our food, and a fork that was missing from a setting when we sat down. We also got charged for an extra cocktail and they brought us the wrong appetizer.

We had a 9 o'clock reservation, we arrived early and sat in the bar. The server got both of our drink requests wrong and then fixing it took forever because she took forever to check up with us. We ordered fries while waiting, never came. We didn't get seated until well after 9:30 and when the server apologized she said they would comp us some appetizers and our last drink order. One of the things our group ordered was not available anymore, but we weren't told that for quite a while after ordering. Food was good, but the entire process was so clumsy and drawn out that it ruined our evening. Add to this that when we got the bill the things that we were told would be comped, weren't and we had to bring it up (awkward). Will not be returning.

When I read the menu, everything sounded so amazing. What you actually get is very different. Food was flavorless and undersalted. Rock shrimp tostadas were a major disappointment. Skimpy on the shrimp and the flavors were all vinegar. Fish and chips were the only good dish but would've been nice to have a sauce other than tartar sauce. Service was terrible. We had to flag our waiter to get drinks, to order food (about 45 min after sitting), to order more drinks, and to get our bill and then to get our bill corrected after a bottle of wine was added. I was really excited when Palm House opened but if I do return, it will just be for drinks.

Friday @ 8 - understandably crowded and noisy. 10 minutes before our waitress acknowledged we were seated. She said she will be right back with water but we said we were ready to order drinks. Pros - Can be a HOTSPOT if they work on their menu & presentation Cons - The Kitchen is noisy & shouts out orders and a downer especially if u are seated in the back. Kitchen staff seemed to be having a melt down, head chef wearing RedCoat constantly was having a powpow meeting with KStaff. Waitress Really didn't show nor make any effort to take care of the table other than coming around for the customary "How is everything." Made no recommendation nor ask if anyone was allergic to anything (as more n more restaurants in the city are starting to!).

Our friend chose The Palm House for his birthday dinner. Being a Birthday, we purchased a great cake from Chile Pies and brought it with us. Upon entry they let us know a cake would be $5 per plate and the cake was $100, so we are already talking $160 or so for the cake after this crazy charge. We were very upset, did not win in our efforts to relieve the charge and tried to go on with our night. It would have been fine if the service wasn't terrible, one of our friends order was never taken. The icing on the cake was our Bday celebrator wanted the duck tacos, but they replaced that with pork. There was duck on the menu and the kitchen refused to throw that on the tacos. I will not go back.

This is my NEW FAVORITE PLACE IN SF. Yes, finally something classy + fun opens in the marina. Perfect mix of bar + restaurant. We ordered a few things to sample: tuna ceviche, butter lettuce salad, fried jalapenos, burger, and mahi mahi. Everything was hot, and tastes fresh. Def get the tuna ceviche. I really want to try the jerk chicken as that seemed to be the thing to order. If you like Bergerac, same type of drinks + mixologists. Get a mango margarita or a frozen daquiri - the bartender put two extra rum shots in ours :) Overall, fun and great looking crowd. Can't wait to comeback sometime soon and sit outside on the patio.

I have been to the Palm House a couple times since they have opened and they have really perfected the menu. The baby back ribs melt off the bone so you don't even need to use your fingers. The drink menu is really solid - I like whiskey and tequila, and they have 4 drinks with rye, bourbon and tequila that are all great (the pink haze is a little tart but still enjoyable). Tuna ceviche is one of the better ones I've had, and the burgers are great. Ambience could be described as casual chic, good volume to have an energetic meal but still be able to keep a conversation going. When we were leaving around 10pm the bar scene really started picking up so I imagine this will be a fun place to hang out in the evenings as well.

A friend and I envisioned and Island menu and specialty rum drinks. We were a bit disappointed. Decor is simple...beachouse. Menu only had a few items that were actually Caribbean.Thai chicken wings, sweet and sour spareribs and fried jalapenos are not Caribbean. Drink list was lacking: 2 sweet rum drinks or a frozen rum drink, which we opted for(there were a few other cocktails with other alcohol). Appetizer:We tried Tostones (fried plantains, queso fresco, red mojo sauce) sounds Caribbean and good right? Wrong..they had been fried some time earlier, outside was soft and it was dry as cardboard. Mojo sauce was good! Music was boring. They are new so I hope they get a better Chef, Better Menu, better ambiance and make it a Caribbean Place.

I have already been to Palm House a number of times for dinner and drinks since it opened a few weeks ago. This is my favorite place to go in the Marina. The food and drinks are amazing, the vibe is a perfect mix of comfort and energy, and the staff are extremely nice and attentive. I went to brunch there last Saturday and it will definitely be my new go-to spot on the weekends. The Food is filling but healthier than many other places around. I got the huevos rancheros and couldn't put my fork down. Oh, and the lime, strawberry, jalapeno drink was the best brunch cocktail I've ever had.

The resturaunt itself is nice looking. The service was pretty good. And although the food was tasty it was nothing special. Over priced for what you are getting. Example they have a menu item called smashed avocado which was just guacamole but it came in a portion that was super tiny, like barely enough for one and charged $10 for it. Cocktails were good.

I was so excited about place - a taste of the Caribbean and Florida right on Union! I had a burger which was meh (probably my fault for not trying the jerk chicken) but I found that everything was overseasoned with Maui Onion flavor. The server forgot multiple appetizers and the music was so loud on the patio that it was hard to focus on my conversation. I was told the inside was 10x louder -- a bit excessive for a bar scene on a Sunday night. I wish I loved it more, but my experience was lukewarm.
