Diner Reviews
  • "I have been to the Palm House a couple times since they have opened and they have really perfected the menu. The baby back ribs melt off the bone so you don't even need to use your fingers. The drink menu is really solid - I like whiskey and tequila, and they have 4 drinks with rye, bourbon and tequila that are all great (the pink haze is a little tart but still enjoyable). Tuna ceviche is one of the better ones I've had, and the burgers are great. Ambience could be described as casual chic, good volume to have an energetic meal but still be able to keep a conversation going. When we were leaving around 10pm the bar scene really started picking up so I imagine this will be a fun place to hang out in the evenings as well."

  • "A friend and I envisioned and Island menu and specialty rum drinks. We were a bit disappointed. Decor is simple...beachouse. Menu only had a few items that were actually Caribbean.Thai chicken wings, sweet and sour spareribs and fried jalapenos are not Caribbean. Drink list was lacking: 2 sweet rum drinks or a frozen rum drink, which we opted for(there were a few other cocktails with other alcohol). Appetizer:We tried Tostones (fried plantains, queso fresco, red mojo sauce) sounds Caribbean and good right? Wrong..they had been fried some time earlier, outside was soft and it was dry as cardboard. Mojo sauce was good! Music was boring. They are new so I hope they get a better Chef, Better Menu, better ambiance and make it a Caribbean Place."

  • "I came here with a few friends for brunch. It was a terrible experience. The waitress was extremely rude and insulting. She made rude comments throughout the meal and was very slow. The food was fine in general, but I would never go back because of the service."

  • "Loved coming here with my family! Shared a punch bowl and had the best time! I would recommend this place for special occasions or just a fun dinner experience!"

  • "Palm House is great - the food was much better than I expected, and the drinks were really unique. Went here with some friends and it was the perfect vibe. Get a reservation for 9pm, because it really gets going 10pm-on. We'll be back soon!"

  • "Had a feast fit for a sf foodie. We tried everything and every dish had an amazing full flavor with complex levels to keep our taste buds exploring"

  • "The restaurant is new. They have very nice wait staff. It is LOUD! The food is good..not great. It is OK for casual dining. Hopefully they will expand the menu because it is limited. They are off to a good start."

  • "I have already been to Palm House a number of times for dinner and drinks since it opened a few weeks ago. This is my favorite place to go in the Marina. The food and drinks are amazing, the vibe is a perfect mix of comfort and energy, and the staff are extremely nice and attentive. I went to brunch there last Saturday and it will definitely be my new go-to spot on the weekends. The Food is filling but healthier than many other places around. I got the huevos rancheros and couldn't put my fork down. Oh, and the lime, strawberry, jalapeno drink was the best brunch cocktail I've ever had."

  • "The resturaunt itself is nice looking. The service was pretty good. And although the food was tasty it was nothing special. Over priced for what you are getting. Example they have a menu item called smashed avocado which was just guacamole but it came in a portion that was super tiny, like barely enough for one and charged $10 for it. Cocktails were good."

  • "fratty spot in the marina. maybe it's just growing pains, but the service was pretty slow / unhelpful. the drinks were good though"

  • "I was so excited about place - a taste of the Caribbean and Florida right on Union! I had a burger which was meh (probably my fault for not trying the jerk chicken) but I found that everything was overseasoned with Maui Onion flavor. The server forgot multiple appetizers and the music was so loud on the patio that it was hard to focus on my conversation. I was told the inside was 10x louder -- a bit excessive for a bar scene on a Sunday night. I wish I loved it more, but my experience was lukewarm."

  • "Go for drinks and apps. Wouldn't go back for a sit down dinner. Main dishes weren't great and didnt see anything enticing enough to go back. Still, they just opened and can turn things around."

  • "The food was very good, ambiance of the place is great, and the service was really good (they did a good job dealing with our party of 8). When we first got there, they had originally set a table for 6, but easily accommodated us after informing them of two more in the party. Highlights: Burger was delicious, fried jalapenos were spicy and crispy and paired with a great homemade ranch sauce, jerk chicken was very large and filling - great sweet mango taste paired with the roasted potatoes, tuna ceviche is AMAZING! And all the drinks are really good - serving Sculpin IPA was just the icing on the cake."

  • "Yet another disappointment was looking so forward to going but won't be going back. The jerk chicken was dry over cooked. For the appetizers they give you very little sauce for dipping. The fish and chips were ok but they have you a tablespoon of tarter sauce had to ask for more as the waiter rolled his eyes. The frys were not very warm and too much of them. Just so so no better than Nettie's towards the end. Too bad great location. "

  • "New restaurant will certainly prove to be successful. Nice compact menu with interesting choices. Fun vibe. Wine list needs a few better choices but will certainly go back. "

  • "The menu is a mix of everything. If you have or are familiar with tropical and Caribbean places, this menu will confuse you. We were excited to go to this place because it said jerk chicken, i have been to Jamaica, and what i eat that day was not jerk chicken. we also got an appetizer that said tostones, and that is not what we got. the cocktails were the only thing that i really enjoyed. i also didn't like that i had to return my check 4 times because we were being over charged for things that we didn't order. The restaurant doesn't have a name in the outside so it was hard to find the place. "

  • "Food was good, but a bit over priced. Nothing too unique but standard seafood dishes with some different spices added. Pretty solid drinks menu. Wanted to try the punch bowls, but they said wasn't available till next week. Was somewhat crowded for opening week. Great back private room if you can get it. "

  • "Service wasn't great, same with the food. Prawns = small shrimp. This was the first night so I'd expect all sorts of issues, there were more! Drinks were very inconsistent. Once they get a few reps in I'd try it again "
