  • Ok, but overpriced

Atmosphere is great. Come at sunset, and you get a great either sunset or city view. Food is OK. That is, if you like to pay $50/head on avg, then everything is fine. But if you think that price should reflect somehow taste, then maybe this is overpriced. I personally ordered the pork, which is one of the distinctly cheaper items at under $30/plate. To be honest, your average BBQ stand sells better tasting food at a fraction of the price. On the service, I asked for oil & vinegar when we got our bread. We never got it, while the restaurant was maybe 50% capacity. The problem with a premium priced menu is that somehow you expect either premium food and/or service. When these don't follow, you are left wondering what you paid for.

We've eaten at Palisade a few times this past year since our son really enjoys it. But each time it has gotten a little worse. This past dinner was a celebration of 2 birthdays. A few of the people in the party enjoyed their dinners. But my wife and I did not enjoy our dinners much. The rice was barely warm and the crab was very fishy tasting. Oh, well.... We'll just continue to go to Daniel's Broiler, our favorite Seattle restaurant.

Great cocktails and appetizers. View of Seattle is top notch. Disappointed in the entry's . Expected better for the price. My wife had halibut with rice. It was average. I had prime rib. It was good. But not worth $48. Great service from the wait staff.

My daughter and I met some friends and had a wonderful lunch. Great variety to the menu and all was beautifully prepared. I highly recommend the curry with noodles. Although it didn't have the "kick" the waiter warned us it would. Even with out that, it was still delicious. Will certainly go back again.

Every time I go to Palisade I start to get frustrated with the food quality for the price and the sales-focused wait staff. But then I remind myself to stop and remember why I came. It's about the utterly fabulous view!!! And they also do a nice job with special occasions (personal cards on table, rose petals, etc). It's not about the food (which is honestly so-so - my stuffed prawns were fishy tasting). And, you're paying for that view - you could get much better food and service for the money. The waiter was nice, but very focused on upselling the table to more of anything and everything. He did a nice job on wine recommendations. Service became a little slow at some points.

2nd time I've been to Palisades for a business dinner. Excellent ambience (love the Steelhead Pond), terrific service and the food is incredible. The day boat scallops are exceptional - salmon is always fresh & delicious. You know when your salmon is going to be great, when the waiter asks if you'd like it medium rare!

I live on Queen Anne, so Palisade is a convenient upscale dining option. I've enjoyed dining there a number of times, but my recent experience was unfortunate. Ten people at a table immediately adjacent to us constituted the loudest group I have ever experienced in a restaurant - and that's saying something! I have a hearing deficit to begin with, and try to choose restaurants where I have at least a fighting chance to hear others. I was with one other person, sitting right next to her, and was lucky to hear 20% of what she was saying. The management was very good about this, as they took drinks off our bill when I complained. In general, though, I think the food is too high-priced for the quality.

The staff is great in their enthusiasm, if not so great in anticipation of needs, remembering details, etc. The view is great, the menu is a little forced, and unfortunately, the food is not quite there. I was hosting a party of 6, with out of town guests, and not all of the meals arrived with perfectly cooked fish. As we all know, Alaskan Troll caught Salmon is so beautiful when cooked perfectly, and so sad - when it is slightly overcooked, or held over while finishing other meals etc. I hated to hear my guests say, "it's OK" and when pressed, "a little overcooked" to a meal I was hoping to be so perfect for them. Spending 700+ for dinner for 6, and having the main dish be "OK..., ok, a little disappointing" is not what I hoped for.

One of the best things about The Palisades is the pick up and delivery from our hotel which was greatly appreciated. The restaurant was lovely and designed to take maximum advantage of the view. The dinner was good, not marvelous, and had very little to offer in the gluten-free category. The reservations were handled very nicely and we received a window table as requested.

Nice restaurant with a great location and good service, but he food was very disappointing, I had a Filet Mignon Steak which was fairly tough with not much flavor, my wife had the Rib Eye which I tasted which was also fairly tough with not much flavor, would not be in a hurry to eat there again. Also the salad was not very fascinating and the bread pudding I have had much better many places.

The view and the service were outstanding. The menu did not provide a salad with romaine or leaf lettuce, that was a disappointment. The entree selection had only one choice for non-land animal or scavenger (crab) which probably ate meat from land animals. The halibut was prepared with bacon if I remember correctly and I would never special order that item for fear that the kitchen staff would remove the bacon after the dish was prepared. I ordered the Seafood Trio which was too much protein for me. The vegetables where more like a garnish than a component of the meal. I felt ill after eating. The menu was not so limited in the past. Next time I will review the menu prior to my husband making plans.

Finally got to set aside time to have a belated birthday dinner with my husband. It was wonderful. I had no idea Palisades was hidden back in this part of the Magnolia area until friends suggested it. I ordered the filet mignon and my husband ordered the crab-stuffed shrimp, which was to die for. (Their cocktail drinks weren't too bad either!) Attentive service, beautiful and relaxing atmosphere, and the view from our table included the Space Needle, Mount Rainier, and the ferries at sunset. We even got to watch a seal swimming around the marina. It was a great place to spend a much-needed romantic dinner. We'll be back!

$250 visit. The hostess greeted us, picked up the menus and promptly put them down and ran away. No explanation. (The restaurant was not busy 5:45p wed) Eventually we were seated by someone else. Our waiter was nice. Pupu platter appetizer was just ok. The crab cakes/bland, shrimp/cold, steak bits/ok. Bread basket was nothing special, sliced warm baguette. The king salmon was served on a pea purée and few tiny potatoes that looked like they were rotten on one end or chewed by rodents. I expect quality ingredients for the high prices. The prime rib was ok. Nothing special. No horseradish. There is better prime rib in Seattle. The banana foster sundae was great. I wish we would have eaten somewhere else, and went to palisade for desert.

We seem to dine at Palisade for really special events: our 25th wedding anniversary, a family member's 60th wedding anniversary, multi-generational celebrations ... the view is really gorgeous, the setting very nice, the wine list good, and all of us in our multi-generational family can find something really good to eat. We try to go at times that aren't as busy because it can be noisy. We've been in the private dining room as well: and that's wonderful too.

We brought Mid-west friends who were excited to experience Palisades. The view is fantastic with a beautiful sunset. The ambiance was perfect for a meal with long-time friends - as was the service. The food, however, was truly disappointing. Between the 4 of us, we had King Salmon, Halibut, stuffed Prawns and Ahi/Hamachi. The preparations were unimaginative - almost bland. The chewy prawns were overcooked and the Ahi/Hamachi was plain tasting - no sauce or dip to enhance flavor. My wife and I both said that Palisades is turning into the Space Needle. They hope the fabulous view will make-up for the mediocre meal.

We had said in a joking way "wow it took you a really long time to answer the phone" thinking that there might have been 2 hostess "Molly" snapped & said "well we are in the middle of the dinner rush" Well Molly we ended up being on time & there happened to be 4-5 of you standing at the front door when we got there and we still had a 15 min wait for our ON TIME reservation there was always 2-3 of you at the front door standing around talking. For $140.00 for 3 people really? 1 appetizer and 3 entrees & water!! Not a good birthday celebration. Extremely small portions 2 prawns & rice was crunchy veggies over cooked, filet min was under cooked, 3 scallions? So very sad

Palisades Resturant is a beautiful setting especially on a gorgeous Seattle evening. However, the food was very mediocre for an expensive restaurant . Our party of 4 were all disappointed in our choices of scallops, which were rubbery and obviously had been frozen and the halibut was dry and over. We did start with the pu-pu platter for an appitizer which was very tasty. None of us would give a recomendation for dinner but perhaps a drink in the bar to enjoy the view.
