  • Great view, good service, ok food

The staff is great in their enthusiasm, if not so great in anticipation of needs, remembering details, etc. The view is great, the menu is a little forced, and unfortunately, the food is not quite there. I was hosting a party of 6, with out of town guests, and not all of the meals arrived with perfectly cooked fish. As we all know, Alaskan Troll caught Salmon is so beautiful when cooked perfectly, and so sad - when it is slightly overcooked, or held over while finishing other meals etc. I hated to hear my guests say, "it's OK" and when pressed, "a little overcooked" to a meal I was hoping to be so perfect for them. Spending 700+ for dinner for 6, and having the main dish be "OK..., ok, a little disappointing" is not what I hoped for.

Well prepared food. Good quality. Service is great. Really appreciated it. Have always liked the view and the ambiance at the Palisade. A little pricey for what it is, but everything seems to be pricier than it should be these days.

We had a wonderful time and I would definitely return and also recommend it to friends. We were celebrating my aunt's 91st birthday and her daughter was visiting from Minneapolis. The restaurant was a very special treat for her. I have been to both Palisades and Maggie's Bluff in the past and truly enjoyed the visits. The food and view are a fantastic combination.

This used to be my favorite restaurant for food quality, atmosphere and service. Now it's just the atmosphere. I think the new chef has changed the menu and the food was just not that good. I took my friend there and bragged about how good it was before we went. I was a little embarrassed.

We requested a table in a specific area as we have celebrated our anniversary there ever year, however, even with weeks reservation and explanation we were seated far from there. My wife had crab stuffed shrimp that was too salty to eat and we sent it back. The mushrooms with my fillet were dried up and too tough to eat.

The view and the service were outstanding. The menu did not provide a salad with romaine or leaf lettuce, that was a disappointment. The entree selection had only one choice for non-land animal or scavenger (crab) which probably ate meat from land animals. The halibut was prepared with bacon if I remember correctly and I would never special order that item for fear that the kitchen staff would remove the bacon after the dish was prepared. I ordered the Seafood Trio which was too much protein for me. The vegetables where more like a garnish than a component of the meal. I felt ill after eating. The menu was not so limited in the past. Next time I will review the menu prior to my husband making plans.

Finally got to set aside time to have a belated birthday dinner with my husband. It was wonderful. I had no idea Palisades was hidden back in this part of the Magnolia area until friends suggested it. I ordered the filet mignon and my husband ordered the crab-stuffed shrimp, which was to die for. (Their cocktail drinks weren't too bad either!) Attentive service, beautiful and relaxing atmosphere, and the view from our table included the Space Needle, Mount Rainier, and the ferries at sunset. We even got to watch a seal swimming around the marina. It was a great place to spend a much-needed romantic dinner. We'll be back!

$250 visit. The hostess greeted us, picked up the menus and promptly put them down and ran away. No explanation. (The restaurant was not busy 5:45p wed) Eventually we were seated by someone else. Our waiter was nice. Pupu platter appetizer was just ok. The crab cakes/bland, shrimp/cold, steak bits/ok. Bread basket was nothing special, sliced warm baguette. The king salmon was served on a pea purée and few tiny potatoes that looked like they were rotten on one end or chewed by rodents. I expect quality ingredients for the high prices. The prime rib was ok. Nothing special. No horseradish. There is better prime rib in Seattle. The banana foster sundae was great. I wish we would have eaten somewhere else, and went to palisade for desert.

We seem to dine at Palisade for really special events: our 25th wedding anniversary, a family member's 60th wedding anniversary, multi-generational celebrations ... the view is really gorgeous, the setting very nice, the wine list good, and all of us in our multi-generational family can find something really good to eat. We try to go at times that aren't as busy because it can be noisy. We've been in the private dining room as well: and that's wonderful too.

We brought Mid-west friends who were excited to experience Palisades. The view is fantastic with a beautiful sunset. The ambiance was perfect for a meal with long-time friends - as was the service. The food, however, was truly disappointing. Between the 4 of us, we had King Salmon, Halibut, stuffed Prawns and Ahi/Hamachi. The preparations were unimaginative - almost bland. The chewy prawns were overcooked and the Ahi/Hamachi was plain tasting - no sauce or dip to enhance flavor. My wife and I both said that Palisades is turning into the Space Needle. They hope the fabulous view will make-up for the mediocre meal.

We were on our way we had called to say we might be a few minutes late. We had said in a joking way "wow it took you a really long time to answer the phone" thinking that there might have been 2 hostess "Molly" snapped & said "well we are in the middle of the dinner rush" Well Molly we ended up being on time & there happened to be 4-5 of you standing at the front door when we got there and we still had a 15 min wait for our ON TIME reservation there was always 2-3 of you at the front door standing around talking. For $140.00 for 3 people really? 1 appetizer and 3 entrees & water!! Not a good birthday celebration. Extremely small portions 2 prawns & rice was crunchy veggies over cooked, filet min was under cooked, 3 scallions? So very sad

Palisades Resturant is a beautiful setting especially on a gorgeous Seattle evening. However, the food was very mediocre for an expensive restaurant . Our party of 4 were all disappointed in our choices of scallops, which were rubbery and obviously had been frozen and the halibut was dry and over. We did start with the pu-pu platter for an appitizer which was very tasty. None of us would give a recomendation for dinner but perhaps a drink in the bar to enjoy the view.

We have been coming to Palisade for more than 25 years. It's our favorite restaurant in the Seattle area. The food, service, and setting are all great. Although it can be expensive, it's worth every penny. However, the Early Dining Menu @ $32 is an excellent value. All of our entrees were outstanding: seafood with green curry and noodles, steelhead trout, hangar steak & shrimp. The chocolate terrine was halfway between chocolate mousse and fudge and all-the-way delicious. Our server, Justin (I think) was helpful and very efficient. The view of Mt. Rainier over Elliott Bay was spectacular. Our grandkids LOVE coming here. They are always treated well and get a kick out of feeding the fish.

Vegans pretty much have to get the risotto. If you eat dairy there are a few more options with cheese. If you have a mixed group with vegans or other special diets, I'd recommend calling ahead to see if the chef can put something together for the restricted diets. Otherwise it's a fantastic, service-oriented upscale experience, suitable for romance, CxO business or milestone celebrations.

Living in the South Sound, we don't get to Palisade all that often; it's been more than a year since our last visit. While planning our dinner there this month, I took time to read some of the online reviews. Quite frankly, I became a little concerned with some of the negative comments; however, I decided to trust my experience… and I was not disappointed! This service was excellent – including great assistance with some dietary restrictions – and the food was excellent as well. And then there is the view!

For the second time in the last 2 years we tried this one on out-of-town guests because of the nice view ( and a gift certificate). As with the prior visit we were disappointed. The house appetizer was good-shrimp, beef and crab cakes were good. I had assumed that the kitchen would know how to prepare fish. The Halibut was overcooked. Vegetarian risottos were bland. Salmon was also very over cooked. Service was friendly but patchy-the waiter became scarce after we received our main courses. Can't recommend anything but the appetizer and the view.

The food was good, I got the scallops and my boyfriend got the crab stuffed shrimp. Both were cooked perfectly. We also had the banana Sunday, which was my favorite. The only thing that I think could be better is the lighting. It was so dark in there! We were jokig about some veggies on my boyfriend plate that we couldn't see what they were! I like dimly lit restaurants, it makes a great ambiance, but as soon as the sun set, you could hardly see anything.

We have dined at Palisades many times for special occasions. This was the first time the food was uneven. My wife's dinner was below average. The strawberry salad was only fair and the asparagus with the halibut was tough and chewy. Her halibut was very good. My prime rib and Caesar salad was great. The service was excellent along with the view. I still recommend but was disappointed with this meal for my wife.
