There are so many wonderful selections we still want to try. With the four of us, we ended up sharing drinks, appetizers and the main course. No lies, it was wonderful. No disappointments in the quality, helping sizes, preparation and type of food. We have only found one other east coast area restaurant with similar types and quality of food, and that was in New York City over 15 years ago. He seemed to be very overwhelmed and didn't pay much attention to our table. He made a few errors on items that were ordered, and even brought one wrong item. We didn't say anything. But, when a person at our table mentioned that they were unhappy with a particular item, our waiter didn't even offer another item instead, or offer to have it taken off of the bill. There were a few other things that made the overall service experience disappointing. In general though, the restaurant and ambiance were nice, the food was very good. We began with the guacamole trio with chips as an appetizer and were quite impressed by its lovely presentation and wonderful flavors. It was an unusual appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed by all four of us. The brisket was delicious, seasoned very differently with robust flavor. My wife had the fish tacos which she enjoyed, however, she had one with a very "fishy" flavor. The condiments on the tacos were great and well-flavored. Our dinner companions thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We felt the atmosphere was lively and fun. Our waiter, whose name I cannot remember at this time, was excellent. I liked the vegetable chips, a housemade chip blend of plantain, yucca, malanga and tortilla, and spicy guacamole that we munched on as we scanned the menu. For my meal, I opted for the appetizer of Brazillian Churrasco Trio: Grilled skirt steak, chicken, and chorizo sausage on skewers with housemade chimichurri sauce, and served with grilled fingerling potato salad and tortillas. My husband had the Feijoada Stew: Brazil's National Dish that blends slow roasted pork, spicy chorizo sausage and black beans with housemade pickled jalapeños and sofrito veggies with rice. This place is just a little different than most other places in the area. The atmosphere and menu offerings are very unique and the drinks are fantastic. It can be a little loud, and sometimes I think the seating is not very comfortable (we always end up sitting on wooden chairs). It's a great place for a good meal when you're in the mood for something different, and want to be in a lively environment. This evening my spouse tried the shrimp and grits special and she was very happy with this section. I had their newer version of the rio style chicken tacos. The overwhelming flavor was the coconut milk that the chicken was cooked in. Our server was extremely attentive, checking back frequently and the other staff worked together seamlessly to give us a great dining experience. Started with the spicy guac, mussels and tostones for apps (both of our favorite part of the meal) and had the Brazillian stew (no idea how to spellit anymore!) and the crusted tilapia with churros for dessert.
