  • "I was introduced to Paladar in 2010, when I was visiting my company's corporate headquarters in Cleveland, OH. The food is very unique and simply terrific - there's not much you can go wrong with, though my favorite meal is the braised beef ropa vieja. I have been to every open location in the country and have to say that this is a real up and coming restaurant chain. It's great that Paladar is in Tyson's corner now, just a 15-20 minute drive from where I live in Loudoun County, VA."

  • "THE FOOD WAS GREAT. WE WERE A PARTY OF FOUR AND EACH OF US GOT A DIFFERENT ENTREE AND TASTED ONE ANOTHER'S. WE ALL AGREED THAT ALL THE DISHES WERE OUTSTANDING. THE PORTIONS WERE HUGE AND WE TOOK HOME FOOD. THE CHIPS AND SALSA WERE TO DIE FOR. WE ALL LIKED THE VARIETY OF CHIPS PRESENTED. THE DRINK I ORDERED WAS THE POM-BASIL MARGARITA AND IT WENT EXTREMELY WELL WITH DINNER. IT WAS REFRESHING AND TASTY. WE WOULD HAVE LOVED TO ORDER DESSERT BUT WE HAD NO WHERE TO PUT IT!!! WE WILL GET TO IT NEXT TIME AND THERE WILL ABSOLUTELY BE A "NEXT TIME." !!"

  • "I made reservations on a sunday evening. The restaurant has parking in the rear. Clearly marked parking spots in the garage across the street. We were seated immediately. It took some time for us to get our drinks. I ordered the red sangria as my drink. Excellent choice....lateness overlooked. We ordered appetizers, chicken empanada, plantain crusted crab croquets, and cheese fondue with chorizo. my favorite definitely the cheese with chorizo. For meal I had the rum glazed pork, very very tasty. would definitely return."

  • "We met up with friends for brunch at Paladar in Tyson Corner on Sunday which recently open. They had a fairly small section for brunch and the description sounds wonderful, however the execution left a lot to be desired. My husband ordered the Chipotle Honey Chciken & Cornbread and I had the Maple Pulled Pork & Fried Eggs. Both of our dishes were served on top of the thinnest, dry square of corn bread we ever had along with 2 egg that were suppose to be over easy but the yolk was cooked all the way through. The deep fried chicken that was topped over my husband dish was dried as well. My pull pork was a little on the dry side but bearable. They comp our meals when we told them about our meals due to our waitress and the manager."

  • "This was my first time here and overall I was pleased. The ambiance was appropriate for a rum bar and the scene was pretty lively. The Pineapple Capirhina was excellent, as well as the Steak Churrasco. Unfortuntately the beans that came with the steak were bland, and so were the Chicken Empanadas. In a nutshell I was a little disappointed with those items, but I would go here again!"

  • "This place is awesome! The menu is fantastic. Already a big fan of the duck tacos with coconut mango rice side dish. My dining pals raved about the Cuban sandwich and the fish tacos. The guacamole trio appetizer is a MUST. You get traditional, spicy and chef's special along with a fantastic assortment of plantain, tortilla and other chips to scoop with. Delicious! Service is great too. We had Melissa as our server this last trip and she was great. Friendly and efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped with a recommendation for our pickiest eater and they loved their dish. Alvaro, the manager stopped by to say hello and made sure our special occasion lunch was going well. Been 3 times already and will be back for more!!!"

  • "Overall, I loved it! My family and I had dinner here for Father's Day. The food was delicious, it came hot to the table, and the ambience is beautiful. However, the only complaint that I have is that the service was a little slow. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very kind, though. In the end, I enjoyed it, and I would come back and will recommend this place to my friends."

  • "We were a party of 6, and it was our first time to any Paladar restaurant. We ordered the quac and salsa assortments for appetizers, and we could not finish them!! The chips are amazing. Each of us had a different entre ranging from brisket tacos to shrimp and grits. Some of us had dietary restrictions, and they accommodated us without hesitation. We did not drink at all; only had the food (appetizers mentioned, soup, salad). For a party of six the bill came to about $150--again no alcohol. Oh, and this was b/lunch."

  • "The Tysons location is still new, but not THAT new! We ordered drinks. Waitress said my beer was out, so chose another. Manager hurries over with mine, but not wife's, and asked if she had ordered anything. He had another manager rush over the split of brut--He dropped it on the table and left without opening. Ordered soup for one, a shared app and mains. Soup came--very good. Then mains. Manager who had left wine came over. First checked the computer and said order had not been put in--and what did we want him to do about it? He should have immediately picked up our plates and brought the app. Staff was running around all night. Could save a lot of trouble with a little organization!"

He was so hospitable and professional, he explained the menu to us, what his recommendations were, very engaging, constantly asking if there was anything we needed, he even brought out a birthday dessert for one of my managers (he had overheard that it was her birthday, that was a very nice surprise) …..awesome, awesome, awesome! He definitely “Made a Difference” (which happens to be our motto within the brand and we will be back. Thank you again for everything, we will be back!"

My grilled skirt steak was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly, and one of my dinner companions enjoyed the ropa vieja appetizer so much that she ordered the same for dinner. Unfortunately, the service was dismal. As I noted in my first review, the wait staff seem inexperienced, but our server today was surly and inattentive. She got orders wrong and wouldn't make eye contact. I'll definitely return here for the good food and fun atmosphere. But I'll make a point to avoid her table."

  • "the guac was great! A little short on the portion size compared with the chips that came with it. But the chips were great, especially the plantains. I ordered the salad with chicken, peanuts and cilantro. I didn't like it and wouldn't order it again. My friend ordered the mango chicken salad and loved it. The waiter was new and his English was not good. He had not memorized the menu either, and forgot to bring a few things. the tendency was to get the entrees ordered and on the table very quickly and we had to ask twice to not bring the entree yet. Just growing pains; I'm sure they will improve the service."

  • "I reserved a table for 8 and it was ready for us, all set up, and ready with the friendliest wait staff for my friend's surprise birthday luncheon. Everyone LOVED their food & drinks! We ordered: the skirt steak with sautéed kale, veggie quesadilla, calamari, tilapia ceviche, roasted corn meal, sandwich wrap, etc. Our waitress took note that it was my friend's birthday, and brought out a birthday flan! The decor of the restaurant is lively and fun (it's a new restaurant too, so nothing is outdated), the staff was wonderful, and parking is available in the multi-level lot next door! We will be back!"

  • "It was my turn to organize a birthday lunch for a group of girlfriends, so was looking for an interesting place in Tysons Corner that didn't require an expense account. Palabar turned out to be perfect. The manager made excellent suggestions, especially for dessert. The fish tacos as good as any in Key West, and the Cuban sandwich was a big hit. The lunch plates are quite generous, but save room for the freshly-fried sweet potato doughnuts. The bar boasts a wide selection of rum, which we look forward to sampling at a more appropriate hour, as some of us had to get back to work. The staff seemed a little inexperienced, but made up for it in friendliness and courtesy. I look forward to my next visit."

Our server gave us tons of attitude and looked at people like they were crazy when they asked for all rice and no beans or when we asked him to split the check between two credit cards. It was like he had never worked in a restaurant before. Not sure if we would return after that experience. "

  • "We dined here on a Saturday night with a large group. The atmosphere was fun, warm, and welcoming. Food and drinks were outstanding. We ordered the trio of salsas and guacamole for the table and each had a unique flavor. Everyone ordered a different entree and we were all in agreement that the food was delicious. I had the braised beef tacos and my husband had the Feijoada stew, both of which were spicy and satisfying. Cocktails were great too! The only small issue we had was with the waitstaff. There were a few hiccups (drink order forgotten, entree customization forgotten, ceviche ordered as an entree came out as a appetizer, etc.). Hopefully this will improve once everyone gets a little more experience under their belts."

  • "I dine at the Paladar in Rockville frequently so I was excited to have a location closer to home open. The decor and ambiance are closely related and beautiful. The service did not live up to my previous experiences. The waiter was very subdued and seemed uninterested. He forgot multiple items from our order on several occasions. My son ordered his favorite, skirt steak, rice, and zucchini. Which was still amazing, the only critique is the zucchini is usually served on the side and a healthy portion, which was not the case today. I tried something different and ordered the honey chicken and cornbread which was nicely seasoned but alittle dry. My friends ordered the seafood stew and chicken tacos and were underwhelmed by flavor. "

  • "We had a reservation but still had to wait almost an hour for a table. Once we we were finally sat we saw our server (at our table) only 3 times. No one even refilled water... But the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The ropa vieja was awesome. As a chef and someone in the food service business, I understand that it takes a little while to work some of the kinks out of a new restaurant. I can definitely see myself eating at Paladar on a regular basis as long as the service gets better. "

  • "I discovered Paladar's food when it participated in the Taste of Vienna festival and thought their tacos were incredibly fresh and tasty (I tried their fish and their brisket varieties ... both winners!). I went to their new Tysons location to eat in for brunch and again was pleasantly surprised by their food, which includes unique and inspired Latin flavors, combinations, and spices. The food seemed a tad slow in coming out from the kitchen, but the staff were incredibly friendly and professional so service overall was excellent. I was too full to sample dessert, so I'll definitely be going back another time."
