Diner Reviews
  • "This was my second time dining there and I must admit, its like something new each time. I love that they change their menu with the seasons so there is never a dull moment. Pairings Bistro is a must do!!"

  • "Our first time here. Really enjoyed it. The food was great."

  • "Happen to come across this little café by chance. Has become one of our favorites. Price is a little higher the other surrounding options but the creative dishes justify the cost. If there was an area to improve, it maybe the size of the main dining area which runs smaller in comparison to other venues. Otherwise highly recommended!"

  • "I had to get into Pairings to try the new spring menu and it did not disappoint. The Hearts of Palm "calamari" was amazing, along with the Warm Chocolate Brownie -- I could have eaten five of those, they were so good. The wine recommendations provided by the staff were all spot on as well. Guy and Nick took great care of us, the rest of the dining room staff took the time to chat with us and say hi, and the kitchen was friendly and welcoming too."

  • "Absolutely fantastic farm to table cuisine and fabulous wine and beer pairings. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will definitely return. The service was great, too!"

  • "The fried Brussels sprouts have become my new favorite here. They are a generous portion and a fun appetizer to share. The turtle cheesecake is also a must have. Eric is an excellent server. He was very attentive and allowed the perfect pace for our meal."

  • "get rid of them. there are enough in bel air. we could have gone to duclaw or looneys...."

  • "Had raved about Pairings to friends in Pennsylvania and finally were able to get together and go. Although the service was as exceptional as ever, the steak au poivre that two of us had was a bit disappointing. Not tender and a little too well done for medium rare. The fried brussel sprouts were very interesting and the sauce served with them was wonderful. Don't think our friends thought it was quite worth the trip but as always, there was a very relaxed and unhurried ambience that gave us time to talk and catch up."

  • "There are plenty of places to eat in the Bel Air community, some chains, some rustic pubs. Pairings is a great choice for something a little more sophisticated. Doesn't break the bank, entrees come in prix fixe and full entree versions. The 4 or 5 course pairings option is actually a good amount of food with a 3 oz pour with each course. Always a treat."

  • "Went to Pairings Bistro for my wife's birthday. Great place! Excellent service and amazing food. Had the prix fixe with the wine pairings - wow! Great presentation and interesting touches to all of the menu items - try the Grilled Romaine Caesar Salad - absolutely wonderful, as were all of the other items we had. We will definitely be back."

  • "Was extremely pleased that I discovered this wonderful little wine bar located nearby the Aberdeen proving ground area, since there are NO decent restaurants nearby the base at all. The bar scene was quaint and the server was very pleasant. Food was wonderful as well. Look forward to returning back during my next visit to the area."

  • "Food was fabulous. Service impeccable. Looking forward to trying new seasonal menu. Highly recommend."

  • "We have been to Pairings Bistro a few times and we love it. We have never had a bad experience there. The food is always great and the staff is always friendly. The only thing this time is they ran out of their special dessert key lime cheesecake but i just got the turtle one instead."

  • "My wife and I make this a special night out each year now. The food was great and our waiter was phenominal. We can't wait to go back again. If the prices were a little lower we would go more often."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Wow! Was extremely impressed with everything I ate. They offer a 4 or 5 course pre fixxe at an extremely reasonable price. The cream of crab was out of this world, followed by an amazing couscous salad, leg of duck and then great chocolate dessert! From the first bite to the end was just extremely mouth watering. Also, you can pair with wine for a nominal cost. I chose not to this time but since I was at the bar it was happy hour and had 2 great glasses of wine at half price from 4-7. I will definitely go back again if in the Bel Air area!"

  • "We have always enjoyed going to the Pairing Bistro and this time was no exception, but I feel the food was not up to their usual standards. One course was just not right even though they tried twice (at least they comped that course, thank you). The service was as always very good, but the waiter tended to get lost."

  • "Asked for the salmon to be medium rare and it came out well done."

  • "I had an enjoyable evening with a few friends. The food was great. Atmosphere delightful. I am not a wine drinker, however, I had a small glass and it was perfect for me. I live in Towson and it was worth the trip."

  • "Pairings is a great local place to find decent food and wine. If you don't feel like traveling to Baltimore, then this is the perfect option for a night out. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass which you can purchase in 1/2 or whole glass increments. They also suggest wine pairings with all of their dishes. The food is ok. Some things are quite delicious (like the cream of mushroom soup) but other items (filet mignon was dry and chewy) are not quite what I would expect given the price of the meal. All in all, this is a fun place to go (if you want to stay within Bel Air) to enjoy some wine and some of the food."

  • "We went for dinner. The food was excellent, as always, but this was the best."

  • "Our first night out in months without our toddler and it was the right choice. Cozy setting (acoustics could be better but it still felt intimate) with excellent food, wine & service. Our waiter was attentive without being obtrusive, and the 4-course prix fixe option really showcased the quality menu without making us feel like we overdid it. My husband sampled a red wine flight, and I opted for a large single glass of Riesling - perfect choices for our palates and tolerance levels! All in all, it's a great neighborhood find that satisfies our foodie tendencies without requiring us to drive more than a few miles from home."

  • "We went on Valentine's Day weekend so there was a set menu to choose from. Our food was amazing, but our service was unbelievably slow. Other diners who came in after us were do e their desserts when we were just getting our main courses. Other waiters/waitresses were quick, so I think our waitress was having an off night. Great atmosphere and definitely excellent food."

  • "My husband and I enjoy going here for date night. Good food good wine and good company. The service is great."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "My husband and I have eaten here twice! We love their food and their staff is very knowledgable, accommodating and friendly. This is the place to go if you want a nice wine pairing with dinner. Even if you don't do the wine with dinner, their food is amazing. A little pricey but well worth the money."

  • "A great find in Bel Air, Maryland. The area is full of chain and commercial food establishments. So happy' to have a place that is local, unique and with excellent food. Thank you!"

  • "Small, cozy venue with upscale menu and unique wine list."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The tables are far too lose together. On a busy Saturday night, everyone is jammed in there, forced to hear conversations of neighbors at the same volume as your own table... raise the prices a few dollars and get rid of a few tables.... will do wonders for the "feel"."

  • "We are so lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber right here in Bel Air! The food is consistently fantastic and we look forward to seeing what's new on the menu. The wine is great, the service impeccable and again - THE FOOD IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!"
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "My wife and I had a wonderful time at Pairings. We did the Four Course dinner and everything we had was great. The cream of crab soup is delicious - much lighter than I've ever had. The portions are just the right size considering the multiple courses. The dining room ambiance is more intimate than the bar - so request a spot there!"

  • "Enjoyed returning here. Very good dinner selections and we especially enjoy the wine samplings (of course). Seated on the bar side which is a bit noisy. Probably wouldn't have been a problem at all except the fellow sitting at the table next to us was loud and talked constantly. Otherwise a very nice evening. Well recommended."

  • "Tried when they first opening and was surprised to see how they have grown! Brunch menu is lovely---flavors for every taste as well as options for portion size. Service was lacking---had to ask for coffee and water refills repeatedly---major lag time from beverages to order taking to meal to clearing dishes. There was a large group in another room which may been the reason behind lackluster care. Will go back again as the options for locally-owned places in Bel Air are slim and known!"

  • "Great place for a double date! The food was excellent & the service was amazing."

  • "Do not understand why they continue to put sausage in the fish stew."
    Dined on 1/31/2014
  • "Very nice menu and look. Bar / Bistro area and separate more formal dining room. They match wines with meals and you can buy a bottle in their little wine shop to drink or after, if you liked what you had. This is the "most gourmet" of options in Bel Air and its arrival matches the increasing demand for sophistication in the area."

  • "The new dining room (the barrel room), is now very pleasant after the noise reduction measures taken. So that gives you tow perfect lunch/dining venues plus great outdoor dining (summertime of course) in the same place. The current menu has something delightful for everyone, while keeping the perennial favorites. My soup (curry/veggie broth) was to die for and the duck fell off the bone! Same for my beloved who had the short ribs. If you cannot find a suitable wine, either on the list or in the shop there's something wrong with you. In short, highly recommended."

  • "We have been to Pairings numerous times and have never been disappointed. The food is great and service is pleasant and usually spot on. This time the service while very gracious and courteous was slower than usual (we were seated almost 45 minutes before the first course arrived and most of us had already finished the wine pairing by then). That not withstanding we will happily go back for another celebration."

  • "We have been visiting Pairings BIstro since they opened. We just love the menu and the presentation of the dishes and the wine pairings are spot-on. The cream of crab soup is the best we have ever tasted! Always a great choice!"

  • "With a surplus of chain restaurants in Bel Air, Pairings stands out with its more sophisticated menu and wine tastings. The menu is well thought out with seasonal changes and nightly specials. The small plates are a fun way to share and taste a variety of dishes and the portions are generous. With very few exceptions, we have always had a delightful meal with dish combinations that were not only prepared and presented well, but were a gourmet treat. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, wine , and beers. Certainly a gem for Harford County."
