Diner Reviews
  • "I read some of the reviews and was slightly disheartened to hear that some individuals had a negative experience here. I had quite the opposite. Our server was very attentive and the food came out delicious. Both of us got the Pago burger and it was excellent. Both were cooked to perfection and the truffle frites on the side were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this dish to anyone looking for a great burger!"

  • "The food was awesome! I loved the food. The only issue that I had with Pago is that our waitress was not very good. We went on a Saturday around 12:30. The restaurant was not very busy, there were plenty of empty tables. We did not see our waitress for probably 20 minutes after I had give her my credit card to pay for the meal. We only saw her two other times, once to take the drink order and once to take our food order. She also was not very friendly. I will try it again as the food was great. I hope I get better service."

  • "Such a superb experience. We were there for a special occasion and the food was delicious as always and I have to say the service was the greatest."

  • "Although several blocks from the 'tourist' centre of Salt Lake City (i.e. Temple Square etc), this restaurant is definitely worth a 10 mins taxi ride. The food was creative & delicious with organic ingredients that are locally derived, the service friendly & attentive & it is obvious that the staff work together as an efficient team. So much better & fresher than the standard 'American' fare that is prevalent near the city centre. It seems to be very popular with the local residents (usually a good indication of quality dining) so you must book in advance to be sure of a table."

  • "My husband has had a lot of burgers at some of the best restaurants and he says this is best burger and frites he has ever had. I had the pasta and loved it as well. We will be back."

  • "My second visit to Pago for brunch on a Saturday around noon and had an excellent experience. Their food is superb. Had to wait a little longer this time, but it's well worth the wait."

  • "Most enjoyable dining experience with great friends. Service was superb. Food most excellent!"

  • "Delicious food, beautifully presented. Eclectic list of wines by the glass was unexpectedly perfect. The decor is funky but the only problem is the chairs outside looked like they were going to be comfortable but in fact were very uncomfortable otherwise perfect dining experience."

  • "Pago is a neighborhood favorite of ours. We are regulars for "meatless" Mondays, where Pago adds 3 or 4 different vegetarian specials to the menu. The menu is small, interesting, and changes regularly. They try to use seasonal and local ingredients when they can and it shows in the freshness of the food. They always have interesting starters, try the carrot plate as a great salad alternative. The chicken, pork and fish dishes are always nicely prepared, they often add a little ethnic twist. Like the menu, the wine list is limited, but carefully chosen. Enjoy!"

  • "Although our wine was great, when we received the bill we didn't realize that each glass was $19.00. We live in Park City and that's high for even the 5 star resort hotels! It was the only pinot option and there were 2 prices per glass- apparently one is for a tasting pour and one is for the full… If we return we will bring our own wine as we could have had a really great bottle for the prince we paid for 4 glasses. Food was incredible as was the service. Recommend highly."

  • "Pago has a very small menu that features some special offerings. Prices are a little high and the dining areas are a little cramped and noisy. We were given a subpar table by the door and not offered the patio. We had a cheerful waiter, but the timing of items from the kitchen and bar marred the overall experience. Although there are some nice menu items, there are superior restaurants for foodies in SLC."

  • "Inspired presentation of well conceived menu items. Terrific service!"

  • "Upon entering the retaurant we requested a booth. The server checked with the manager and told us booths were for parties of 4 or more. As we dined we noticed a party of two seated in a booth. As the only person of color in the restaurant I was highly offended. The manager came out at the end of our meal and apoligized and said the server was not correct in the information she provided about the seating restrictions. Needless to say I will not be going back to Pago."

  • "My pork tenderloin was a bit salty, but still great. The fish and wine was fantastic. Always a great time, but expect to spend ~$60 per person"

  • "Pago is one of my favorite SLC restaurants. It's a given that the food will always be excellent. I love their wine selections and how the wine list constantly changes. The service is always top notch as well."

  • "Have dined here 4 to 5 times. Have not had anything but a great experience. Staff is very competent and friendly. Wine list and capability among strongest in SLC. Grab help from Evan for an extended experience."

  • "I've lived in Utah since 1993 and travel quite a bit for work. This is the best overall meal I've had in Utah. We had the chilled soup, smoked beets w bbq (phenomenal), asparagus w mushrooms (awesome), artichokes with farrow (perfectly balanced), sea bass, and bacon wrapped pork loin. This place is great! Bay area quality right here in Utah. I'd skip the desserts next time, the deconstruction didn't work for me."

  • "I visited Pago for brunch on a Saturday. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for brunch. Beware- mimosas aren't available until 11.30!"

  • "This was our third time eating at Pago . The food was delicious but the dessert choices were limited and disappointing . I should have gelato across the street. But everything else was very good. "

  • "We went to Pago for the Birthday celebration of my boyfriend, and we had a wonderful time. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was incredible and unique. And the red velvet beet cake knocked our socks off! "

  • "Love the food combinations and prep. First time eating lunch here (usually a dinner spot for me), more than happy with the experience. "

  • "Last night was our second visit to Pago. As with the first, we were promptly greeted and taken to our reserved table that was away from traffic. Our server was courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive. Our starters included a berry salad that was perfection only to be topped by the gnocchi with tender baby peas, blanched almonds and a light yet smoky sauce. "

  • "Amazing creative food. The brunch special today was Morgan Valley Lamb belly with a Duck egg over grits. Beyond GOOD! Also, always get the scone as an appetizer."

  • "This was our first time eating at Pago. It was fantastic! The flavors were so unique and good. Our waiter, Taylor, was excellent and was very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. We'll come again!"

  • "Food was fresh, but there is too much going on on each plate. Lost the flavor and ability to focus on the simple joys of the main food items. Seating is cramped."

  • "I travel for a living so I eat at many restaurants. One thing about this restaurant is it has great reviews online. The plate presentation of every meal was amazing. While on the other hand, each meal lacked flavor. "

  • "Brunch menu is short but tasty. This was the 2nd time we went to brunch at PAgo, but this time we set on the patio. I was concerned about the car traffic noise, but it was nice a fairly quiet for a relaxing brunch. I took the Croque Madame (for the second time ;-)). My husband took their lamb belly special. He was kind of disappointed at first (look?) but found it very tasty. Maybe the grits could have benefited of a touch of truffle oil to light it up, but very good. The bloody mary is cheap, so don't expect anything big, or just skip it and take a really good OJ. My 14 months old was with us, and enjoyed our food as well. Staff was nice with the baby but don't expect high kid supplies. Our server did his job, but expected better though. "

  • "I like Pago--was shocked though, when served the oyster appetizer ($12.00 for three) two were smaller than a dime..."

  • "Great Burger and fries. Gnocchi waaay too salty. Good service, but slow kitchen. They comped the gnocchi, which was very nice. Great locale, high energy. Mediocre drinks. So-so food. All depends on what you want. Pago has perhaps not lived up to its early promise."

  • "We chose this restaurant based upon online reviews. The food was incredibly flavorful and well presented. The wine list was creative. Service was excellent and the waitress was very knowledgeable about both the food and wine. The neighborhood is nice and safe. This restaurant is a real find. "

  • "Pago has an extensive wine and beverage list with excellent choices. They also have a season-specific menu with artfully chosen dishes. This is not run-of-the mill fare. I've visited the restaurant twice, enjoying a vegetarian dish the first visit and sharing a whole trout the second. Each dish was unusual, flavorful and delightful. It's location in the trendy 9th & 9th neighborhood makes it easily accessible. There aren't a lot of tables, and each table was full both times I've dined there (on weeknights), so a reservation is recommended."

  • "Found this restaurant while on vacation from NYC. Google told me it won the 2014 award from Salt Lake Magazine. They were right! Great atmosphere- not stuffy at all for a "fancy" restaurant, fabulous wine, amazing food (the kale Caesar salad actually made me enjoy kale!), and much more affordable from New York City. Bravo!"

  • "The chefs create some amazing dishes mixing uniques flavors. the menu, though small suits all palates. I had sable fish, with fried polenta, delicious, accompanied with grilled and pickled turnips, they were fantastic, yet I wouldn't put the turnips at the top of my choices for vegetables..The restaurant is small and quiet. The service was great."
