Hostess ignored us, then refused to seat until reservation time b/c we were 10 mins early. Out of many items on buffet and the cheeses melted. 3 tries b4 we asked a passing attendant if they would replenish the buffet. Our waiter kept asking the table next to us if they had received their entrees yet. Uh, what?? Out of entree items. Ordered eggs over easy, got fried & rock hard. Were told that’s the only eggs they make. Wait time was over 30 mins. Everything overly salted & inedible. Overcharged by 1 buffet and 3 alcoholic drinks. Didn't order alcohol. He argued, then “corrected” the bill & included a 20% gratuity. Credit card was charged 3 times and $250 over original amount. Will be reporting fraud to credit card co. Do not eat here!!!

Overall, the title says it all. The patio is a great place to dine, weather was great and I was looking forward to a great meal. However, the server acted like it was a task for him to wait on us and was not engaged at all. He had a "too cool to be a waiter" attitude. To compound matters, the first thing he says when he comes to the table is, "we are out of the duck, the fish and a couple of other things." The Paggi House's menu is quite small, so being out of three main items really limits your choices. Food was average and the menu was "confused." Being in the culinary business, it appears the chef is trying to do something trendy or hip, but the menu is not good. The need to get the basics correct before trying a complex menu.

I probably would not have gone to Paggi House without a coupon, but I am glad that I did! The food was excellent - perfect-sized portions with lots of flavor that were filling without being too heavy. Our appetizers came out first, then the small plates, and then one of our main courses - luckily we were sharing everything, but it took awhile to get our other main course (mahi mahi - when it finally came, it was excellent). We had to take our dessert to-go because we were late for other plans, and we finally got it an hour and 45 min. later. Overall, it was worth it, and our server was very attentive and friendly.

I was a fan of the Paggi House of years ago because of the fantastic steaks. There wasn't even a steak on the menu when we went this week. The salad with goat cheese and the scallops were a great substitute, but quite pricey for the quantity of food. We also had an order of raw tuna which turned out to be about 6 tiny bites. I think we weren't expecting the small portions. The dessert, a caramel brownie with Cheerios, cost $9 and was a tiny portion of average-tasting sweets. The service was great. We sat in the bar area because of the nice feel of being outdoors with the great lighting. If price isn't an issue for you, then you'll probably enjoy the Paggi House.

On Saturday (5/10/14), I took my fiance to Paggi House for dinner before going to the Ballet. It was my first time at Paggi House. Everything was excellent. A starter (bread and butter) came out late (after our meal) but our server was very nice, professional, and provided great service. He removed the starter from our bill without me having to say anything at all. I know things will happen but how you handle them makes all the difference...and that certainly did. Our water glasses were always refilled before we even noticed we needed more. All the staff was smiling and very friendly. Excellent experience all around. Thank you!

The service was not just slow and unenthusiastic but there were also a few downright bizarre moments. This is a very beautiful restaurant but our group was seated in a remote corner facing a brown wall. The "large plates" that were supposed to be entrees portion sizes varied drastically from one dish to the next and some of us were left so hungry we had to hit Gordoughs donuts on the way home. The only nice moment was the very friendly and helpful valet service.

Our decision to have our brunch served on the shaded terrace outside was so right. The food was excellent and ample. Our only modest disappointment was that food, including that in the buffet area, was not hot. Cold breakfast potatoes won't work. Nor do I understand how the sausage in a supposedly heated dish could be cold. The lox was wonderful. And, overall, the experience was very good.

We were seated in the outdoor area that backs up to the Bridges Condos. Every few minutes we could smell garbage. I don't know if it was the dumpster from the condos or Paggi House dumpsters but it was off putting. The only remedy we could think of would be to have a large fan blowing out towards the garbage to keep the odor from wafting towards the restaurant.

First time visit for middle aged couple with hopes for a memorable evening of great food and service. Paggi House hit the mark well. Our waiter was most attentive, but no overbearing, great explanation of appetizers vs entree selection. Stupendous combination of flavors and textures in each dish. Perfect for what I, the wife, was hoping for. We both left very satisfied and happy.

We enjoyed sitting in the patio and enjoying the cool spring evening. We were, however, disappointed by the food. Our group of 8 ordered various dishes from Froi Gras to Duck and none of the dishes were impressive. Some dishes needed seasoning and others were just plain bland.

I recently took my wife here for her birthday and she absolutely loved it. As soon as we arrived, the complimentary valet service had us feeling like VIPs, and the excellent service of the staff kept that feeling going the whole night. Our Host found us the perfect table, nice and quiet with good view, out of the way of traffic. The dishes were all reasonably priced, even the lamb and duck, which we had and were absolutely satisfied with. The Mussels were also quite delicious, as was the blackberry bliss cocktail my wife ordered, and the pistachio/blackberry creme brulee was the perfect end to a wonderful night, we will definitely be coming back!

Paggi has been there a while but still makes a good meal. Not much white tablecloth pretension, but some. The dishes are artful, a little small but well thought out and pretty good. Very uncrowded inside because most folks like the patio. Their valet only parking lot is annoying and seems a little abusive of customers money (I parked a a meter down the street). Wine is overpriced and limited.

I have been to Paggi House for brunch before and decided to get together with friends to celebrate my birthday there. To call the service horrible is an understatement. A person in our party of 8 ordered eggs and never got them and glasses of water, cups of tea and cups of coffee went empty for 10 minutes before we even saw the waiter to ask for a refill. Paggi House serves a great brunch, but after my experience on Sunday I would say it's horrible for groups and would certainly hesitate about going back there myself. And of course, because there were eight of us in our party, we had a mandatory 20% gratuity, so there was no way to monetarily express our displeasure with the service.

We have been to PH many times over the years. This was the last time we will go for three reasons: 1. The menu is unclear. While it is divided into four sections, one of which is Starters, there are appetizer portions mixed in with the other three sections, Green, Sea, and Land. A gentleman in our party order fish from the Sea section. It was an appetizer portion, very small. I know he went away hungry! 2. The service was kurt at best. Not more I can say about it. 3. Our food took a long time coming out and was not hot, but luke warm when it did arrive. Too many options in Austin for mediocrity to be paid for.

Great restaurant with fabulous food but it was the service that really made it outstanding. Our waitress knew each item on the menu incredibly well as well as the entire wine list. She was fantastic! The lamb entree was out of this world but the mussels were a little too salty for our taste. I would also recommend the cheese board as a starter.

My girlfriend and I agreed that the food was just "ok" and the service was awful. I made a reservation on OpenTable; upon our arrival the hostess declined our request to sit outside, claiming that since we didn't mention it in our reservation, we would have to sit inside. The atmosphere inside was comfortable, but the walls were completely bare - no art or pictures anywhere. There was nothing to look at as we waited for our food, which took unusually long to prepare and serve. It was an hour before we got our appetizer, and another half hour before we got our main course. The mushrooms (appetizer) were great. The scallops dish was good, but the duck breast dish was undercooked, very dry, and overly salted.

Sat in the patio, and while it was nice, it was very windy and the tent was pushing over our table. We moved to the bar and waited about 10 mins for service. We ordered our entrees, and then another 20 minutes later the waiter came and asked us if we were ready to place our order again. He had forgotten to put in the order originally, he apologized and said he would have the chef put a rush on our order. While the food was tasty, the buffet food was good but so much for the rush on our entrees, as they were only lukewarm. The waiter didn't charge us for our drinks due to his mistake (we had coffee, juice and tea). Would have liked to just have a manager apologize, wasn't even asking for a discount, just an acknowledgment, never saw one.

This eating establishment is both upscale and comfortable, the old of a historic registry home featuring comfortable, modern decor. The wait staff is very attentive, the menu creative and the wine list, although not lengthy very adequate to most needs. We enjoy the fact that it is located very near the Long Center for Performing Arts and other performance venues making it an easy walk to and from the venues. On this dinning occasion we were encouraged to stay parked at Paggi House while we enjoyed the Austin Symphonies performance. I'm know we will continue to return for many great meals in the future. Where has the old Paggi house gone? Extensive wine list had very few California reds (maybe 3 cabs) and it used to be one of the best in the city. Food was hit or miss. Menu was extremely limited without a light fish or a steak listed. Scallops were delicious, mushrooms had no seasoning , duck was too gamey for anyone to eat and deserts weren't memorable. Atmosphere was a little boring and not near as hip a vibe as it once was. Very pricey for the experience we had. We brought friends from out of town and was hoping for a beautiful dinner but still with a happening vibe. Sadly, this doesn't seem to be te case anymore. With so many new restaurant options in this city, I can't say we will ever return. It used to be a favorite!

This was among my favorite restaurants in Austin. I was really disappointed with the menu change. Only small plates, and not as good as I would have expected. Even worse, I actually went for a business dinner and set very high expectation on the place among my guests. What a disappointment!

Not only did she act as a downer, but she continued to act like it was a burden to resolve seating issues, when the restaurant was less than 50% full. Most of the wait staff are very upbeat and would make a much better initial impression. I hope the restaurant management looks at the personality and observes the reaction of diners, and hires upbeat people to great guests in the future. Austin has way too many fine dining venues to patronize one that makes you and your guests feel uncomfortable.
