  • "I wanted a place where we could walk to after work rather than spend and hour on the Gardiner getting somewhere. Found this well-recommended place listed and decided to try it out. Calamari and Shrimp appetizer for the wife and I had the "caprese" salad. She had sea bass and I had osso buco. She had tiramisou and I had chocolate mouse. Each course was excellent (she liked the crispy crust on the fish and I liked the saffron rice), well timed and sized right. Service was great and friendly. I always like it when there is nothing on the plate I don't want to eat! I expect we will be back. Quite surprised there weren't more diners, but it was a Monday night."

  • "Very good Italian food. Service was a little stressed at times but recovered very nicely. Servers recommendations were appreciated and enhanced the evening. Kitchen a little slow but worth the wait. Not overly crowded for a Saturday night but still bustling. Two signature dishes are Fungi risotto and pasta with squid ink and lobster. Both quite good but color of the pasta turned off my date...purple blackish from the ink. Risotto has a strong flavor as there are truffles in it. Must love mushrooms to enjoy. Had a nice bottle of Amarone Valpolcella $75. on the heavier side of medium but went very well with the meal."

  • "What a great experience. We went with another couple and we had a great time. The waiter was very knowledgeable regarding the wine list and all of the menu options. My husband had the risotto with pheasant. It has a unique taste and is quite delicious. I tried the halibut and beet risotto, also very good. We will come back to this restaurant."

  • "One of my favourite vacation places is Italy and dining at Paganelli's reminds us of the great meals we've had there. The charcuterie options are numerous and platter with the Parmesan cheese basket is provides a favourite fir everyone. The favourite dish in our group is the Strozzapretti ("Strangle the Priest") pasta. The risottos are terrific - my favourite is the seafood one -they are always perfectly done, not too soft, not too hard. Pizzas are nicely done too - and you can enjoy a good pizza without lining up at the "trendy" pizza establishments in the city. Sometimes when we can't decide what we want, we'll order a pizza to start to share."

  • "Incredible food, way off the beaten path. Best lasagne and risotto in the city. This isn't a hot spot though... no reservations required. Food quality and price equate, but the ambiance does not match. If all you care about is incredible italian food - honestly some of the best this city has to offer - this place is for you. If you want a hot spot, where you can see and be seen, go elsewhere. I'd recommend giving it a try though, if you're at all on the fence."

  • "I walk by Paganelli's a few times a month so when I saw al unch deal on one of the group buying sites I thought I would give it a try. Service here was the best part of the experience. Loved our server who was attentive and funny and full of life! Food was good but I wouldn't pay full menu prices for it. I probably won't go back only because the prices are way too high."

Three of us ordered different kinds of risotto (one with lobster, one with wild boar and one with veal) - and we got a little bit of meat and the rest of it was risotto....for $30 a plate. None of us were too happy with our meals, they were just OK. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant."

  • "The food was unfortunately terrible. I got the daily special which was risotto and halibut. The halibut was over cooked to the point where it tasted like canned flaked tuna. My mushroom risotto had no mushrooms in it. I told our server and he said that this is how the dish is cooked. That dish was $29 and definitely not worth it! It's really too bad. We live so close and I really want to like this place but we wouldn't go back."

  • "This place has a great look, excellent waiters, very good food, a good wine list. We had the house Valpolicella, excellent, but a little pricey for house wine. The food is may be a bit overpriced for the portion size, but not exorbitant. Clearly, the food quality is above average. It was a little loud; they could use some kind of noise dampening if possible, but again, not a deal breaker. Overall, this is a good place for a "special" meal."

  • "This restaurant has been a hidden gem in the market district for many years; hidden around the corner from the vibrant St. Laurence market bar scene (on King street), this restaurant attempts, and achieves to recreate the feel of an Italian country restaurant. The food is fresh and hot, delicious pasta and superb risotto are the top choices for the authentic experience. Have no doubts, the food, and just as importantly the service is amongst the best in the city. There are a lot of Italian restaurants in Toronto, many are very good and some (including Paganelli's) are excellent and we will be enjoying another meal here as soon as we can!"
