Can't say enough about the food, their chef certainly know how to make a delicious soup that's more interesting than, the usual run-of-the mill restaurants.   • "We had a glorious beet salad..... fresh greens, tasty dressing and candied walnuts. The halibut was a little disappointing as the fish did not seem fresh, the broth was warm but not hot. Service was spot on.... friendly and attentive. Should have stuck to pizza or pasta."

  • "Celebrated my husband's birthday with 2 other couples and enjoyed the food very much. Noise level was high at times but no worse than many other crowded restaurants as it was a Saturday night. Could have used more staff as our service was a little slow. Had a round table so made for better conversation as everyone was visible. Everyone enjoyed their choices and drinks."

  • "The food was fantastic, in particular the arctic char, however, it was quite evident that our server did not want to be working that particular Friday night, and was certainly unimpressed by any additional work created for him such as having to ask about the kitchen about ingredients in a dish or discussing menu options. Hostess was equally unenthusiastic about her job although she was incredibly busy! I might try it again for the food and hope different staff is working or having a better day! Everyone has off days and I got the impression our server was not performing up to his usual standard."

  • "My wife and I have now been to packrat Louie's a couple of times and it has been a terrific experience every time. We have ordered different things each time we have gone and have not been disappointed with anything. This time I got the beef tenderloin and my wife got the chicken supreme and both were excellent. We finished of sharing the sticky toffee pudding and I would say it is the best dessert I have ever had. On a side note when you go there ask to not be sat at the back, it gets very cold in the winter."

  • "The food was phenomenal! We have been to this restaurant a few times and have never been let down. Service is always the best and the staff is very knowledgable. Food is always fresh and flavorful. I got the halibut and it was to die for. My other diners got the Tagaliteli and chicken supreme. We also had the patato and leek soup which filled the soul. This will always be one of my favorite places to eat!"

  • "The evening was good, my only complaint would be the scallops were almost raw and the plates needed to be pre heated. Our food was stone cold within minutes of being served. Hot plates would aleiviate that issue. Wine list was good, however a few more Canadian wines would be nice, there a hundreds of fantastic wines available right here in Canada."

  • "The service was not the best, it took over 20 minutes to get the first beer. It was a bottle, all they had to do was twist off the cap and grab a glass. No reason for it to have taken that long. The spicy Hawaiian pizza was really good but the chicken dinner was bland. The coffee was good and even though it wasn't on the menu, they had cabo wabo tequila so for that I give them thumbs up!"

  • "Have always loved this restaurant . Good food- good atmospheres- good hard working staff- willing to adapt recipes for gluten free diet- I was able to get calamari gf as a starter... Very nice. Also,,, their ticininese salad has been on the restaurant for years and years and is always delish! Ps it's in a lovely area of Eonton- nice outdoor seating area under the trees on a lovely summer day."

  • "The first time I came here, a long while back, I was thoroughly impressed and really enjoyed the experience - probably one of the top 10 dining experiences I've had in Edmonton, to this day. Since then, I've been here a few more times, and I think that ownership has changed twice, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the experience for me has trended downwards. Based on this most recent experience, this descent has brought my rating from incredible to alright. There wasn't anything bad, per sé, about the experience, but the food is quite average now, and there are definitely better places to go in terms of quality for money. Nothing against the place, and it's pretty good as far as Whyte is concerned, but I won't be back for a while."

  • "My wife and I went here for an early Valentines dinner and had a lighter meal of calamari, caesar salad, and the lemon cheese pizza. The flavours in each dish were perfect and so well balanced. There is a LOT of cheese on the pizza, and the lemon balances it out well. The restaurant was busy and quite loud, which isn't great for a quiet romantic dinner, but the food, service, and ambience were great."

  • "I decided to take my lovely wife out for Valentine's Day and beat the rush. Since it was a romantic dinner we decided on a series of appetizers instead of a large meal. We started with a watermelon martini which started the meal off on the right foot. We began with Herbed Goat Cheese Bruschetta and a Stuffed Portabello Mushroom both were tasty. We then had half orders Packrat Caesar Salad and Beet Salad both gently caressed the palate. We finished off with their Spicy Hawaiian pizza-watch out for the banana peppers WOW. We were too full for desert. Service was good. There was a long interval between dishes that normally might have been unacceptable but romance was in the air so we just enjoyed the time. Overall a very enjoyable experience,"

The only reason for the lower rating on the service, was the mood of our waitress.........she must have had a bad hair day. We've all had those! Next time will be just as good with the higher level service we have come to experience! Must try it!"

  • "It was great to see an old favorite is still a happening spot in Edmonton. It was great to be in vibrant room on such a cold night in Edmonton. I met a group of friends for dinner and we all had an awesome time. For an appetizer, I had the goat cheese bruschetta and this was excellent. One of my friends had the Prawns Louie and that looked excellent. For dinner we all tried different entrees and everyone was really happy with the food. Our server picked several bottles of wine for us and we enjoyed all of them. I look forward to going back again soon!"

  • "We waited over an hour for our food to come. The food was ok, but nothing special. I chicken I had was very dry, and was average. My mother makes better cordon blue. The waitress avoided our table because the food was taking so long, it would have been nice to hear from her to explain the delay, and not just leave us sitting, thinking we had been forgotten. I will not recommend to my friends."
