A word from Pacific's Edge Restaurant
Perched high atop a granite cliff overlooking Point Lobos State Reserve, migrating whales may be seen from every table in the dining room. USA Today selected us as "One of the Top 10 Restaurants in America With a View." Sunsets here are so spectacular that the entire dining room often breaks out in spontaneous applause. Pair a bottle of Domaine Bertagna Vougeot Clos de la Perriere with our Maple Glazed Smoked Duck Breast with Duck Confit and Strawberry-Rhubarb Chutney. We have just been awarded Zagat Restaurants' Guide "Best Decor" award for the entire greater Bay Area, including Napa, San Francisco, Monterey and Carmel. Amber mica lanterns, Santa Lucia fir beams and granite boulder walls evoke the local mood of the Big Sur rugged coast and mountains. This is the premier place for a special occasion when people like to dress up, look their best, and go somewhere they shall always remember. Come delight your senses in a magical setting.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Gorgeous Views of the bay in a misty forest setting. Expansive windows in an open upscale lodge atmosphere. Perfect for twilight cocktails in the lounge upstairs and appetizers. Kitchen closes at 10pm so plan on eating in the restaurant early."

  • "This is an expensive restaurant, but well worth the cost. The setting overlooking the Pacific is perfect, service is attentive but not obtrusive, and the food is beautifully prepared and flavorful. The wines are very pricey, but you can find some more affordable gems if you look. This is a place not to be missed on the CA central coast."
    Dined on 8/17/2014
  • "This is the place for a special occasion dinner. Cannot beat whale-watching from your dining table!"
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "Selected this beautiful establishment as the place celebrate a milestone occasion. The Pacific's Edge delivered across the board. People, service, food, view, total experience."
    Dined on 8/13/2014
  • "This was the perfect place for a romantic dinner. The service was great, the food was even better and the view could not be topped."
    Dined on 8/12/2014
  • "One is prepared to pay for lease value with normal bottles of wine at least twice a distinguished restaurant. Service on this night was a bit off. The busboy did deserve an "extra" handshake as I like to see one hustle and take pride. For prices like these you have to be on your A game all the time. Food was splendid but not over the top. One has to be comfortable in knowing a dinner for two can exceed $500 as you will want to complement your meal with a good bottle or two. Until next time here, Cheers!"

  • "Pacific's Edge is a wonderful location with a stunning view. However, it's associated with Hyatt and been turned into timeshare community. The food was good, the service was poor, and the prices were very high. There's much greater value to be found elsewhere in Carmel."
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "Would be tough to match the Pacific Ocean view. Nice local wine list. Menu had a nice variety of offerings. Yellow fin tuna, salmon and filet were excellent."
    Dined on 8/3/2014
  • "We were here a few years ago and had to come back. The view takes your breath away... Learned about it from an article in USA Today featuring restaurants with the best views. So there's all that but the food and service are wonderful as well. I highly recommend this place and we will return."
    Dined on 8/1/2014
  • "For a special occasion, this is the place. The staff is attentive, the view and food excellent. Beautiful place with lots of history."
    Dined on 7/30/2014
  • "We were there a little late due to traffic and hostess was FABULOUS at managing to get us a great table! It was much appreciated as it was a special milestone birthday. Food was delicious. We had the yellowfin tuna and rack of lamb. Both were done nicely! The view is magnificent as always being able to catch the sunset over the ocean."
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "Pacific Edge was fabulous. Not only was the ambiance, view and food delicious we had a bonus with entertainment from the many whales swimming around in the ocean. What a special evening...."
    Dined on 7/22/2014
  • "Second visit was not as memorable. Food was ok. Hotel connected is very noisy and not worth the price."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "Overall it was an amazing place to dine. The view was amazing! Our waiter Frederick gave excellent customer service! I would recommend this to my friends and family and I would come back here in the near future."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Pasific edge met all my expectations of what fine dining should be. I booked the hyatt for a romantic getaway for my boyfriend and i. I thought the resturant would be just as nice so I reserved that also. As we walked in around 8:30 we had the most amazing sunset view overlooking the ocean. Priceless! We got a corner table with an incredible view! The wine list was endless and the service was on point. We each had Filet mingon. I can say the best I've ever had. Well worth the cost. I definitely recommend it! See you all soon!!"

  • "We had a nice dinner, but their prices are not competitive w/ most of the best restaurants in Carmel. Go there if money doesn't matter. No complaints on the food or service. The ambience and views are great, but next time we'll eat in Carmel 1/2 the cost."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "Frozen peas used with the salmon dish fell short for me with a plate price of $32. Besides my poor selection of entree it was extremely nice"
    Dined on 7/9/2014
  • " We were given a nice table facing the window on the 2nd level where we both had to sit on the same side. The hostess greeted us and said Happy Anniversary and told us it was a special anniversary table. Unfortunately, that evening it wouldn't have mattered where anyone sat as the coast was fogged in. The server took very good care of us. We didn't have to wait long for anything. We each ordered an appetizer. My husband ordered tuna tartar which he said was good. I ordered the heirloom caprese. The tomatoes were not that good. We both ordered steak for our dinner. Mine was a filet. It was good, but not foodie good. My husbands steak was good too. However, We've had great steak elsewhere for a lot less money. The wine list was decent."

  • "This place has one of the best views in the area. And the food and service match the view. It is a little expense (including appetizer, entree, share side, shared dessert and wine with tax and tip it was around $220 for 2). But it was a special occasion and well worth it."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "amazing food. Great service. If you are in the area, go!!!!"

  • "I was underwhelmed by the experience. Too much hype about the view but not really impressed .overpriced cocktails that tasted watered down, food was overpriced and acceptable at best. The band was loud could hear them in the dining room. Been all over the world ... Only the view was world class. Price does not match the value of the dining experience."

  • "Brought in a bevy of exceptional wines and the very classy somm was utterly superb – Don? Extra/special requests were honored wonderfully by Bart. Absolutely terrific experience at the best table in the house (as per request). Will always be a personal favorite recommended to all special visitors."

  • "This is a great restaurant with an awesome view. If price is not an issue this is the restaurant of choice in Carmel."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "Came to celebrate our 30th anniversary and they didn't disappoint... we were seated in the corner with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, and were treated wonderfully by all the staff. Definitely worth it."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "Absolutely amazing view. The food was very good - not great, but good. Not a foodies paradise, but more than acceptable. The service from our waiter left much to be desired. He was just not friendly. The young man who brought our bread was exceptionally personable, but the waiter seemed quite cold. I will recommend for the view alone."

  • "A little different life experience but I asked my future mother-in-law for her daughters hand in marriage. She's a single mom and her daughter is her world. I so wanted this night to be her night, for her to feel completely comfortable and special. We arrived and for the first 10 minutes all I heard was her gasping at how amazing and breathtaking this restaurant was. When I made the reservation I requested a table with a view for a special occasion. Little did I know they were seating us at THE TABLE! It was a corner table for two that had te premier seating and view in the entire restaurant! The evening went so much better than I could have ever hoped for. We ordered a Bordol wine, filet mignon, ravioli, side of potato grais ad asparagus"
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "The view is spectacular! Only dine here if the day is clear and you can watch the sunset. If food is more important than the view for you, then I would dine elsewhere."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "This was an all-around terrible dining experience, irrespective of the cost of the meal. The service was terrible and the food was even worse. The only saving graces were a nice bottle of wine and lovely views."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "We loved everything about this restaurant. The scenery overlooking the prestine Carmel coastline was picture perfect and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend it for any special occasion."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "Can't beat the view! Wonderful steaks, but very pricey! Price of wine is ... High! Accommodating, friendly staff."
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "Spectacular view! The food was really good, too! Attentive, courteous service. They don't seem to enforce their dress code too firmly, as I saw jeans and flip flops on the premises... Wine is a bit on the expensive side, as most bottles were >$100. Single glasses were much more reasonable, but I did note many of the expensive wines were rare finds."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Our food must have come not 10 or 15 minutes after ordering. The service was very quick! The view was spectacular. Later in the evening it did get a little noisy, and I don't recall any muzak to add to the class, but the dining was fine. They opened the blinds during sunset; I definitely recommend going later in the evening (in summer) to make that part of your experience."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "The Best view ever and very good food. The sunset was spectacular and overall a great experience"
    Dined on 6/16/2014
  • "A spectacular view of the California Carmel coastline makes the evening worth the visit itself."
    Dined on 6/16/2014
  • "The Hyatt influence has not been kind to the Pacific's Edge food, service or ambiance. In past years, this was THE fine dining and special occasion destination on the Monterey peninsula. Not any more. The entire experience has slipped. It's still "Gary Danko" money but without the unbelievable culinary experience, superior, seamless service or elegantly subdued atmosphere. The only thing that hasn't changed...the view."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "been there a year ago and everything was pretty good, but this time, it was disappointing on all levels, service very poor and food barely edible, will not go back. a bad joke for those prices..."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "The first thing you notice is the view which is one of the best: Pacific, white water, sunset. The service was excellent, the entrees delicious. Definitely a place to go for that special occasion."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "The view is great if you are by the window. They take their time in food delivery and don't drop by the table very often, leaving you to enjoy the view and your time together. But they will jump on your needs if you ask them for something. Our dinner was about 2 hours, so if you want someplace that hurries you in and out, don't go here. If you want quiet, serene atmosphere it has it."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Nothing beats the view at the Pacific's Edge, that has to be emphasized! The food and service were good. We had dined here a few years ago and this visit, the atmosphere was very different, not as reserved. This was pleasant and comfortable. We will probably return when in the area again, and we would definately recommend Pacific's Edge to friends."
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "The obvious perk is the amazing view from this restaurant. We watched seals and whales out in the ocean as we dined. The food is superb as is the selection of wine. The service was also outstanding with several people attending to your needs. There was also live music (a piano player) and dancing in the bar. It is an expensive place to eat. Our meal for two was about $300. But that's with a bottle of $100 wine. Definitely go for a drink at the bar at least. Then you can get the view without the cost being so high. I'd go early to ensure you can get a good seat. Reservations for good tables are fairly important."
