A word from Pacific'O
Sunset dining at its best! Pacific’O is located on Lahaina's most beautiful white sand beach with panoramic views of three neighboring islands. This was the chosen residence and "playground" for Hawaiian royalty; here ancient kings and queens feasted and made merry. Today, enjoy the same pleasures in Pacific'O's open air dining room or on the romantic beachside patio. Long recognized as a leader in local, organic dining; Pacific'O was the first to establish their very own island farm. Each day the table is set with just harvested macrobiotic vegetables and fruit; and local fishermen deliver fresh fish still dripping from the sea. Pacific'O is a local favorite since opening in 1993.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "For the view and water front location this restaurant can't be beat. Our table was closer to the restaurant side on the outdoor patio but the view of the water and Lani'i was spectacular. The server was good but could have been more engaging. Not sure if he had too many tables or if that is his nature. We started out with the tempura battered oysters and they were very good. I had the coconut crusted macadamia nut mahi-mahi and it was tasty. My friends had the tempura tuna and they liked it. Much of the menu seemed to be overpriced. Especially when both entrees had the same sides. The wine list was extensive and easy enough to find a reasonably priced bottle. Overall good food but a much better view. "

  • "Food was mediocre, we were stuffed in a corner by a fence, couldn't see our food, it was mediocre tasting. Nothing special. One poor tasting vegetarian meal option ( which was different from the open table dinner menu selection). Over priced, mediocre food. Service was awkward, odd, nice but poor communication skills by waiter. He did offer to refund our vegetarian meal. There are so many fabulous places to eat in Maui, don't waste your money here."

  • "We were sat on the patio, perfect temperature with the umbrellas shielding us from too much heat and then taken away just in time to see the lovely sunset. Four of us dined together, sharing the shrimp wontons as a starter. Very tasty! I could live on the chopped pineapple served with it. Each of us tried a different fish dinner, mine was the coconut crusted mahi mahi, it was excellent. Around the time we were finishing our dinner, we started noticing over powering cologne drifting our way, it got so strong as the evening wore on, we were unable to try any of the desserts, opting for a hasty departure on a lovely evening."

  • "My husband and I came here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. The food was fantastic and our server was great! The restaurant was right on the beach and we sat out on the patio so it was very romantic. My only complaint is that I ordered a $10.5 glass of wine and they only filled my glass about a quarter of the way."

  • "We loved it so much we went back twice in one week. Sustainable farming practices, organic local foods is what brought us there. The preparation of the food is what brought us back. Simply and delectably delightful!! Oh ...and wonderful servers...all so friendly and professional, and they really know their menu"

  • "I had high hopes for an amazing meal based on the buzz and ads in all the food magazines. We have traveled to maui 3 times in the last few years and I would say this was by far the worst meal I've ever had here!! Don't waste your money on horrible food and horrible service!!"

  • "We had an enjoyable dinner outside with our children. The food was very good overall. We did experience one mis-step in that an order of Mahimahi was overcooked and too salty. We brought this to the attention of our waiter, and very quickly a new serving was delivered to our table. This fish was prepared quite well, definitely an improvement over the first piece."

  • "We found this restaurant in the menu magazine along with it's recommendation on the Maui channel. This is a farm to table restaurant. Everything is fresh and organic; sounds like it will be perfect! But when it comes to the food, it was bland and the server wouldn't give us the time of day. He wouldn't give eye contact, and conversation was minimal. On top of the service, we are on the patio, which was beautiful at dusk, but once the sun set it was so dark we couldn't see what we were eating. Needless to say, this is not a restaurant to rave over!"

  • "It would have been nice to have a drink in less than 20 minutes after being seated. The fish was overcooked and I only had one bite, and the server paused when he took away my plate and I mentioned it was too dry and he said nothing and took away the plates. I would not recommend dining here."

  • "We were seated in the last 2 top next to the fence. view was compromised! server was very good. food was fine, especially the salad. However, when the sun set, we couldn't see what we were eating :( poor visibility. Plus, way too much on the plate. Seemed like the chef put everything he could think of on the plate. less is more :)"

  • "We go to Maui at least once a year and had not been to Pacific'O in a while. We had loved it a few years ago but it seemed to have lost something. But we were very happy with our meal and especially the service when we dined there this month. The food was great. My husband liked their seared ahi dish better than Merriman's (whose version has lost Peter's original greatness). The highlight of the evening was Jeff, our server. He was friendly, knowledgeable and overall great. He helped one of our party who has difficult allergies work thru the menu. Best server of our two week trip to Maui. We will definitely be back."

  • "We started our day in upcountry at O'o Farms where we toured the farm that supplies Pacific'O. We had lunch there prepared by the talented chef JJ. We didn't think it could get better, but then were treated to their own micro roasted coffee and hand rolled truffles. We ended our day at Pacific'O where we had perfect drinks and dinner with some of the best service we have had on the island. We are impressed with the farm to table movement in Maui, but in particular this talented group of entrepreneurs. It couldn't get any fresher unless you eat it directly from the field and their organic practices make it even better. Thank you for the wonderful experience. It was our best day during our 3 week stay."

  • "This restaurant has excellent service and food combined with a picturesque view. It is somewhat expensive but well worth it. It is definitely one of the best restaurants on the island, especially if you are looking for a fine dinning experience while still right on the beach. I would highly recommend this establishment."

  • "We had a 6pm dinner reservation and we're seated on the outside patio - almost on the beach. The ambiance was wonderful. Great food, attentive service and a beautiful sunset. This was our favorite dinner of the vacation easily beating Kos and Nicks Fish Market in Wailea. Highly recommend."

  • "I will keep this simple. Was looking for quality meal and a great location and stumbled upon this place via OpenTable. It looked great and the reviews were fantastic and in short it lived up to its billing. It was a beautiful night, calm with a dark starry sky. We enjoyed the last of sunset, tiki torches, and fantastic fish meals... The food is very good but it's the location and atmosphere that defines the experience. Do it. And hope you get a great weather."

  • "I loved the view from my table, inches from the sand on the beach and the sunset was spectacular! The Seared Ahi over roasted veggies melted in my mouth and my husbands ono was delicious. Our desserts were amazing and enjoyed them more being gluten free! We appreciated the service giving us some space and still keeping our water glasses full. I enjoyed my romantic experience."

  • "Incredibly fresh food with distinct and dynamic flavors. From the cocktails with fresh muddled fruit, to the fresh seafood and local produce. We didn't expect this level of food or service when searching for a place to eat and were pleasantly surprised- I'm sure more word will get out and the tables will get booked. Liked it so much, we are going back for a second visit on our week in Maui."

  • "The Bling Bling was done to perfection and dessert, well, the Lumpia was a real beach side treat. Had the chocolate martini with dessert as suggested in the menu, could not have been any better. Great restaurant in a great location."

  • "We come to Maui every year but usually stay at the other side of the island so have missed this gem. We had a wonderful time and service. We were seated outside and the rain started, the staff was amazing, re-seating everyone, clearly they have had practice but they didn't miss a beat in service. The food is all local and so you feel you are supporting the local economy and people. We will be back."

  • "It never seems to rain in Maui but it did on this day. Pacific'O relys on their beach tables but with the rain they had to put everyone inside. They dealt with this unexpected event extremely well. We were still seated within a few minutes of our reservation. The service was prompt and professional. Seafood entrees and the wonderful fresh vegitables and greens were exceptional. We asked the waiter for a wine selection (by the glass) and he did a great job with a perfect match."

  • "It had rained so reservations ran behind- they handled well. Sat outside which was nice but they did not have enough lighting, literally could not see menu or food without cell phone light. Still really good experience overall."

  • "We had a great view of the sunset, and couldn't help laughing at a dog on the beach that was trying to dig to China. the ceviche appetizer was amazing, and both our entrees were very delicious. Service is more laid back than we are used to, but is in keeping with the island vibe. All in all, a very enjoyable dinner, a great view, and quiet atmosphere."

  • "We dine at Pacific'O every year when we come to Maui. It is a lovely, romantic, ocean front restaurant that gives you the feeling you are dining in someone's backyard. The food is excellent as it the service. Last year, we watched a young man propose to his girlfriend. Another year there was a wedding on the beach in front of us, This year's treat was a brightly lit cruise ship anchored nearby. We highly recommend Pacific"O for a romantic dinner or a dinner with family or friends. You can dress casually or wear a special island dress."

  • "Outstanding preparation and presentation of food! Wonderful setting with dining almost in the water. Unique Hawaiian fish on the menu...never had Hebe before. Outstanding. The Phillipono "egg rolls" for desert were great! Good wine list and fancy drinks are very well done! Maybe a little more light on the table would be good when ordering...but not a huge problem. Service was very good!"

  • "My wife and I having been coming to Maui since 2006 On each of those trips we have dined at Pacific'O and have never been disappointed. Regardless of who we talk to about Maui, Pacific'O is always the "go to" restaurant for that special occasion ( even if the special occasion is just Tuesday night)."

  • "This was a delight from start to finish. Great drinks with local liquor and friendly bartender. My fish entree (Hawaiian Ono) in a bed of arugula and rice with goat cheese and avocado salsa was stunning!! Ceviche appetizer was equally fine. Will be coming back here when on Maui, that's for sure!!"

  • "We discovered Pacific'O several years ago on a trip to Maui. The island itself has gotten so crowded and expensive that we usually go elsewhere in the Islands now. But this year we are back and were able to return to our favorite restaurant on Maui. The food is as fine as our very first time and the Mai Tais are to die for."

  • "I have not been here in 2 years, and it was better than I remembered. We sat at the bar and the bar tenders were great. They really made our dinner memorable and special. The food here was the best we had on the island and we went to Merriman's and Mama's, both of which were excellent too. The sommelier was great too. He recommended a dessert wine and told us he would pay for it if we didnt agree it was better than something else we asked for and they did not have. We were glad to pay for it after we tried it! We are looking to come back and enjoy the great food and the great staff."
