Pacifica Seafood RestaurantOne of the bestWe go to at least one new restaurant a week for dinner and have been doing this for quite some time. We have experianced some wonderful restaurants in the Coachella Valley but the Pacifica is one of the best. I had the Salmon upon the waiter's reccomendation, it was great. The ambiance was very comfortable and the view breath taking. It's a little pricey but well worth it. It's one we've noted to go back to for brunch.and whenever we can. The food is great (especially seafood), it has a a fun bar w/ great happy hour prices for drinks and bar food, the dinning areas (inside & out) are up-scale, quiet and very relaxing. We received a table in the back of the restaurant - very quiet and comfortable, perhaps the best table in the house. We all had dinner drinks and some of the best seafood we have found in the area. Our group ordered halibut, salmon, linguini with scampi, swordfish and the chilled shellfish platter (oysters on half shell, shrimp, lobster and king crab legs) - arugula salad with toasted hazelnuts and strawberries. Deserts included creme brûlée with fresh berries, a date cake, and ice cream. Excellent staff too - wine sommelier was very helpful with wine selection. The food is always top shelf, the service warm and efficient, the overall atmosphere superb. We ordered from the restaurant week menu to try something new, and everything was exceptional. Can't find a single flaw, if you haven't eaten at Pacifica, you are missing one of the best restaurants in the Coachella Valley. We love this restaurant. We have a second home in the desert and enjoy trying new places during restaurant week -- we'll be back to Pacifica. Many places seem to 'short-change" customers with pre-prepared foods (e.g., Restaurant Depot cheapies ) druing restaurant week. This was NOT the case at Pacifica both the Salmon and Halibut were creative and cooked to perfection. Dinner was delicious, (Halibut) but the service was lacking. Our server, Andy, seemed to disapppear on me & my guest after our dinners were delivered. He didn't ask if we'd like another glass of wine nor did he check back to see if our food was "tasting good". We ordered desert and it took quite awhile for it to arrive and when it did, it wasn't our server. No one offered coffee or an after dinner drink, which we would have ordered. Thrilled with our decision. Our 7:30 dinner reservation allowed us to sit on the patio, had a very pleasant and attentive but non-intrusive waiter, food was excellent! Oysters in the half shell were delightful, Cobb salad was crisp and fresh, and our entrees (Scallops with bacon risotto & seared ahi tuna) were fabulous! Most entrees in the $30's range. Meal including a wonderful bottle of wine and a couple great vodkas from the vodka bar was only $144! The price was definitely helped by the Tuesday special of half price bottles! From the cocktail...double berry lemonade...to the heirloom tomato salad with basil crystals...to sea bass, the bacon risotto with scallops and/or,shrimp and chocolate semi freddo...it was one of the best meals we have ever had. Enjoyable service that was just fast enough and just slow enough for us to not feel rushed. For the menu we chose to share their calamari appetizer (enough for 4 and on my top 4 list). Three of us had the Chilean Sea Bass - amazing and - dare I say it??? - almost too much to eat. I had only put the birthday info on our open table reservation (didn't speak to anyone there) and after we finished eating the waiter (gem) brought a desert - not one dish, but two for the four of us. We were there for over 2.5 hours and had a really great time. The food was excellent. I am an East Coast gal and I had high expectations of seafood - they were definitely met here. For lunch my favorites are One Heck of A Salad and the Crab Louie.....both exceptional. This time I had the sugar spiced salmon and the waiter suggested a ginger buerre blanc as I didn't want the mustard sauce. It was unique and delicious, a perfect touch. My friend had the white fish and thoroughly enjoyed it. The bar was quite lively and noisy but we were seated in the back so it was private and quiet...just perfect. The waiter and busboy were attentive to our needs without being in the way. We booked the reservation online and asked for a table along the wall inside, but that was not evident by the table to which we were shown - it was in the middle of the room. Fortunately, the table beside it along the outer wall ( with the plastic curtains) was unoccupied and we asked for the switch, which was accepted. The wine price list is too pricey for the standard selections and out of reach for the specials (for some) but the selection is outstanding!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGo to Pacifica if you haven't goneWe've been coming to Pacifica since moving to Palm Desert a hundred years ago, and having moved to Indio, continue to enjoy the restaurant. We have friends who bought a house in La Quinta that do not explore much. We introduced them to Pacifica this past Friday evening and they were blown away. They, as are we, vodka drinkers. When our server came over he was asked about the vodka selection and was told to surprise them with on the rocks cocktails.
Cocktails were perfect for them, and my Crater Lake martini (first time for this one) was delicious. In fact we each had a second.
Food taste, quality and presentation were spot on and you didn't let us down in our raving about Pacifica.
