Diner Reviews
  • "The food and service are always very good. I arrived 15 minutes early and was told my table would be ready at my reservation time and was asked to sit at the bar. A half hour later, I still had not been seated and there were plenty of tables. The hostesses were very young girls and could probably just use some training. The bar tenders and waitress were all very helpful and friendly. Again, food is goo; not stellar, but reliable and always a nice evening."

  • "We went back to Pacifica for the third time this season. It's always excellent. The help is so friendly and accomodating. This time we made reservations for 4 and at the very last minute, 2 more were included. Pacifica didn't bat an eyelash and seated us on the patio. What a gorgeous view at sunset! Everyone tried everything from seafood platter to mahi mahi and salmon. We all came away full and loved the whold experience. And the espresso gelato is to die for!"

  • "Every time Cathy and I visit the desert we visit Pacifica Restaurant. From one of our very first dates, to now 3 1/2 years later, Pacifica never fails to impress. The Chilean Sea Bass is definitely a must have. Thanks to the staff in the front of the house as well as the back, we will continue to let everyone know about this place. "

  • "Fabulous food! Must try the salmon and the shrimp scampi fettuccine! We'll be back..."

  • "The food was very good but the service was a bit too good, we felt rushed. Nice outside spot suffering from a little neighborhood noise, probably just that night as a bunch of banging and crashing went on throughout our meal. Staff very friendly and helpful."

  • "Great waiter. Excellent short ribs and oysters. Great wine list."

  • "Ate at Pacifica during our annual golf trip to Palm Desert. A seafood restaurant isn't the first thing we considered in the desert but happy we chose to eat here. I had the Mulligatawny soup and Chilean Seabass. The soup was good but the seabass excellent. The seabass is their recommended signature dish and I understand why."

  • "Pacifica is one of our favourite restaurants. We love the outdoor patio area overlooking El Paseo with a view of the mountains. Appetizers, salads and entrees are always consistently high quality. The Sea Bass entree is excellent and one of our favourite items on the menu. Pacifica has a significant wine list and an excellent selection of premium vodka choices, We would highly recommend."

  • "I had high expectations of Pacifica from friends, but this place did not measure up. The service was mediocre (something I would expect from a chain restaurant) and the food was OK. Definitely not worth the money."

  • "I went to this place for lunch and it was very quite so good for a business lunch. I had the crab Louise salad. It was ok... nothing special. I drove from Downtown Palms Springs and wasn't impressed."

  • "Service, atmosphere, food are all consistently great at Pacifica. Primarily seafood, but even the Filet Mignon was excellent, and prices reasonable for a higher end place."

  • "The food is nothing special. Have been coming here for years and nothing changes except the food becomes more tasteless. Great place to have a drink and bar food with friends. Not noteworthy for a romantic meal."

  • "...they really have an incredible choice. I tried a Moscow Mule made with Russian Standard, long time a favorite, and it was great, but I needed to ask for mint to put in it. The classic drink includes mint but it wasn't in their version. Adding it made all the difference in the world. The fish was excellent, as always, and dessert to die for. Sitting on the patio at night is a delight--but hurry, for the desert only allows this for a short time of year."

  • "Pacifica has been and still is the preeminent seafood restaurant in the desert. Their Chilean sea bass is famous, but is only slightly better than their other seafood entrees. Eat In in the bar - fun; eat on the patio - beautiful, when the weather is right, which it usually is; eat in the restaurant - classy & romantic. Pacifica is well know for their Vodka selection and they have a very good wine list. If always thought you didn't like catfish, try theirs, it is fantastic."

  • "We went here for our 25 th anniversary. Our table was ready upon our arrival. Server was knowledgeable and efficient. We were no it rushed at any time. Calamari was fantastic, as was the seabass. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I guess one of the best ways of noting approval of a good restaurant is to continue to frequent the establishment, which we did. We had two excellent family dinners during our week stay in Rancho Mirage."

  • "This is a very nice seafood restaurant. The service was exceptional, but the entire restaurant was very warm. I had a group of 11 and we were put in a private "wine" room. I have to guess that the temperature was at least in the 80's. By the time dinner was over all we wanted to do was settle up and head for cooler pastures. The temperature did take the edge off what otherwise would have been an exceptional dining experience."

  • "Delicious. They do know how to cook a piece of fish. Mahi mahi, short ribs, whitefish, oysters were a hit with our party of 3. We definitely recommend Pacifica."

  • "As bizarre as it sounds, this is an awesome seafood restaurant in the middle of the desert! Lobster tails and sea bass fantastic, kids menu was high quality with plenty of real choices for older kids. A must when you visit palm desert"

  • "First, I always question a restaurant that does not keep their online menu current - it feels like bait and switch to me and shows the proprietors hold the ability of customers to review a truthful menu in disregard. We looked at the menu online in anticipation of our experience and were very disappointed many items listed online were not on the menu. I am not describing items which may be seasonal - seafood risotto can be had any time of year. The fish selection was minimal sea-bass, salmon (yuck) and halibut. Our waiter (Mario) was extremely intrusive, The Dénouement of the evening was our waiter, Mario, hoovering over me (truly, not an exaggeration) after he returned the check and credit card so he could observe the tip."

  • "I made a reservation for 12 people for a Friday night, on our way there I received a call telling me it will about 10 more mints for our table to be ready which I thought that was nice. Still we came on time and waited an extra 40 mints the mean time they apologize only once, when we got our table the waiter wasn't any better they didn't even offer something for the inconvenience. My husband order a Chilean sea bass $38 which it should have been only $10 it was rediculos how small compare to the other dishes. I order a rib eye steak which was a bigger portion, but over cooked and hard to eat.. And again our server no where to find her to ask for the check and to bring the copy back to sign the slip.. Not a happy experience at all..."

  • "We visit Palm Desert for one week each year and we always eat at Pacifica during our visit. The food is outstanding and the 50% off wine on Tuesday nights is a great deal! Through a misunderstanding on their website, we showed up expecting the wine night on Wednesday and did NOT receive a discount off the wine. When i returned home I called the manager, explained the issue and after checking the website, he agreed that there was a mistake on their website. We received a check in the mail for more than 1/2 off our bottle of wine that night. That's what I call GREAT customer service! We'll return again next year!"

  • "The restaurant has too many tables and people are tightly packed in. We were squished against a wall and the only thing positive was it was quieter. We were told the patio has better seating. Sent our Halibut back once because it was over cooked but it came back just the same. The service was very good and they tried their best!"

  • "I'm an East Coast Seafood snob who was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of seafood at this California desert delight. The menu had tremendous variety. Presentation was lovely. The three of us ordered different seafood dishes and were all very pleased with our food. I tried the NE Clam Chowder with trepidation, and was very pleased with the West Coast version. Broth was a little heavier than on the East Coast but very tasty and filled with claims, bacon and potatoes. The wine list is very impressive, and the service was excellent."

  • "we always enjoy dining at Pacifica .. revent visit for a little celebration. appetizers Caesar salad & calamari were very good .. a lot of places do NOT know how to get calamari right, but fortunately Pacifica does do it right. we were both in the mood for pasta and so we both had the shrimp scampi fettucine alfredo, which was excellent. nice range (price-wise) of wines. Very nice waitress, we enjoyed talking w/her. Pacifica is always on our list of favorite dining-out places."

  • "Quite nice for what it is. There are many more tables per square foot in this restaurant than would qualify it for truly fine dining. The menu offers a solid selection. The ceviche was truly excellent, and the ahi tuna tartare was good enough. An excellent caesar salad was a real surprise, it felt like the dressing was made from scratch. Our entrees were well prepared - swordfish perfectly cooked; sea bass also. The cocktail and wine list comes on an iPad. Decent selection of wines by the glass. Kind of reminds me of a "Roys" - too many Asian-influenced sauces is my only nit-pick. If you are craving seafood in the desert, this will satisfy."

  • "Great food. Great wine selection. First rate service, if not at times a bit harried and less gracious. However..... try for a table out of the busy traffic pattern.... say, on the perimeter. If you're looking for a quiet romantic spot, or intimate conversation, this may not be it, as the energy level from well oiled diners may preclude normal voice conversations - even on the terrace. Our adjacent table of diners broke into an inpromptu barbershop quartet (seriously), during our after entree course. Still, a top consideration when entertaining. It's a happening place."

  • "I loved the ambience on the outdoor patio. I met two friends there and we all loved our food. The service was good but we never felt rushed. It gave three friends time to be together and catch up after not seeing each other for over a year."
