Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent meal! Would highly recommend the scallops. They were cooked to perfection and the sauce with the jasmine rice was a delicious blend of coconut and mild curry flavor. The dressing on the house salad was delicious as well."

  • "Our group of eight enjoyed a variety of appetizers, entrees and drinks which were all thoroughly enjoyed because of the great ingredients and beautiful presentation. Service given by server Mike Firn was outstanding, attentive and accurate clarifications on menu items. Thank you."

  • "Pacific Rim is one of the best restaurants in Ann Arbor. It is certainly our favorite. I recommend it without reservation. The food is incredibly good and the service is excellent."

  • "We went as a family to celebrate a birthday during Ann Arbor's restaurant week. The restaurant week menu was fantastic with many options and it appeared the restaurant did not cut back on anything. All of the dishes were wonderful! Between the 5 of us, we tried a number of items and they were all very good. Most impressive was the variety of flavors that were introduced. If you like some asian flavors with beef and fish, this is a great place!"

  • "Pacific Rim is lovely -- and nice that their menu can't be found other places in town, with a sophisticated twist on Asian cuisine. My Hamachi filet was delicious -- subtle, yet full of flavor. My co-diner was pleased with the lamb -- which was a healthy portion. My only disappointment was the crab cake appetizer, which I found doughy and perhaps best left to New England. While the indoor ambience is serene and romantic, we chose the sidewalk seating this time, and it was very pleasant. Their speciality cocktails also are a treat -- well balanced and tasty."

  • "We had an outstanding experience beginning with exceptional service and delicious food. The house infused vanilla vodka was a welcome surprise along with their exceptional tap offerings. Overall, a great experience! Will definitely be back."

  • "An Ann Arbor Classic…never disappoints! Everybody should have a meal there if given the opportunity."

  • "In my book, this is the best restaurant in Ann Arbor for consistently excellent food, great service and nice atmosphere. And that's saying a lot because Ann Arbor has some great restaurants. There is nothing negative to say about any of my experiences at Pacific Rim over many years - beginning when it was a tiny hole in the wall on the corner of Washtenaw and Huron called 'Kana.' We worried when the family sold it, but it hasn't wavered in quality in any way. It's always been a favorite for us. One complaint: the old 'Kana salad' should be consistently on the menu. I miss it sometimes. Thank you, Pacific Rim, for another wonderful dinner."

  • "Great food with a nice wine pairing. The Lamb shank was incredible. Their real prices do give me a jolt, the $28 dinner was a pocket save."

  • "We visited Pacific Rim during restaurant week in January and couldn't wait to go back again in June. The food is wonderful and this time we splurged on the wine pairing as well and were glad we did. The food looked as good as it tasted. Each plate was a work of art. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. We will definitely return."

  • "I had been trying to get Restaurant Week reservations at Pacific Rim for a few years now, so I was so excited to finally have the opportunity to go. Needless to say, my expectations were pretty high going in after such a long wait...and Pacific Rim delivered. From a great appetizer to amazing salad and an out of this world entree, I left feeling great about my dinner. The food was carefully prepared and well presented, with the wait staff being very attentive. The selection of food is great and there is something for everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience."

  • "This restaurant has a great selection of menu items. We tried three different fish dishes and all were excellent. We are looking forward to returning to try the chocolate cake dessert specialty. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food well prepared and served by a knowledgeable and low key waitstaff."

  • "An Ann Arbor restaurant that does not disappoint. Ever. Excellent on every level--food, service, ambience. My favorite restaurant in town for fine dining. The seared black eye tuna was divine, melt in your mouth delicious. The Thai calamari was cooked to perfection--a rarity at many other restaurants. Always leave happy and totally satisfied!"

  • "We have enjoyed the food and service at Pacific Rim for many years. The food is consistently good, the service excellent and the noise level is moderate. We often go with friends with food sensitivities and they are always helpful. We love the duck and the salmon, also the short ribs in the winter."

  • "We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at Pacific Rim. It is by far my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. The sable fish is my favorite dish but every item on the menu is delicious. The service is outstanding and the ambiance is perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a number of occasions including anniversaries, birthday celebrations, office/business meetings etc."

  • "We had a great meal. Everything was delicious, especially the grilled veges that came with my entree. And don't miss the chocolate cake -- best ever."

  • "I've eaten at the Pacific Rim twice; first on business and then on my anniversary. Both times the food was excellent. The wait staff are very personable and knowledgable about the food. It's a small place. The five spice Old Fashioned was the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. The warm chocolate cake was worth the wait. I have this restaurant marked as a favorite on my open table account."

  • "Had the basil pasta dish and scallops. Pasta dish was okay, thought it lacked flavor. Scallops were delicious, but the curry sauce was way too strong. The best item had was the soup special, a cold avocado soup....Awesome!!!!! Desert was chocolate mousse w/passion fruit, also outstanding!!! Good beer list. Our waitress Marie (recent M grad from Indiana)was excellent"

  • "I have worked in fine dining for the past 20 years. So, I am always very aware of my surroundings, the service, and food. The host, was great and seated us at the best table. He said, "We like to put our most attractive couples right in front of the widow so others can see us as they walk by!" I thought that was so nice to say, and we both got a kick out of it. The waitress did a great job. I know when waiting on tables, you have to have the ability to read the table. We all have had the experience of when the waiter, hangs around too much, starts telling you about their life, I even had a waiter once sit down at my table? Our waitress gave us our space, which is what I wanted!! The food was amazing and the service was perfect!"

  • "Fantastic cocktail menu and very extensive wine list. Menu does not seem to change, but that's okay because everything is done well and tastes great. They had no problem going off the menu to create kid-friendly dinner either."

  • "My husband and I drove 90 miles to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary at Pacific Rim. It did not disappoint. The food was incredibly delicious. The calamari, ginger tea and sable fish are absolutely the best. The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. "

  • "We love Pacific Rim. I have given gift cards to others for here, and we love dining here ourselves. I am especially fond of the scallop dish. Celebrated 2 birthdays there this week -- Tuesday & Wednesday nights. Had the scallops both times. Every other person in both groups loved their orders: the duck, the salmon, & the tenderloin. Presentation of food is attractive and appealing. Restaurant was nearly filled both nights making it hard for me with hearing aids to hear people at our own table."

  • "Pacific Rim is my go-to restaurant for a special night out. My favorite meal in town is: Mansoon Platter appetizer, Japanese Sablefish entrée, and chocolate molten cake for dessert, all paired with a great Scotch list. "

  • "We had the sable fish and tuna and it was delicious. One of the most flavorful meal we have had in a long time. The presentation of the tuna was so nice you didn't want to eat it."

  • "This was the second dining experience for my wife and I at Pacific Rim. Our first experience was great. We both really enjoyed the appetizer and our entrees during our first visit. This time, that wasn't the case. Service and atmosphere were excellent. For an appetizer we order the disappointing pork belly. It was just way too fatty, even for pork belly. For an entree, I had the Tenderloin. It was delicious and prepared correctly, no complaints there. My wife had the Thai Basil Pesto Fettuccine, and it was not good. The noodles were mush, not even close to al dente. The entire dish just seemed like an unappetizing mush of noodles and vegetables with no texture and poor flavor. We'll try again, but to sum it up, the food is hit and miss."

  • "Once again, our dinner at Pacific rim was absolutely outstanding. Our waitress was excellent as was the rest of the staff. I highly recommend the Big Eye Tuna - once you have had it, you will never be satisfied anywhere else!"

  • "Pacific Rim was recommended by Bob Bao a fellow Spartan. I have been a host mom for high school boys for 3 years. We came to celebrate my son's accomplishment in his first year at the U of M. A 4.0 avg and in the top5% of his class. I was so proud. My son this year is about to go back to Taiwan for the summer. I am hoping he will return next fall! We had excellent food and service!!! Thanks "
