But, we all learn, so don't count againt her or Pachamama's. Just odd for the the price of a very expensive meal. Noise on south room was very high because of a group across the aisle. Made difficult to hear at out booth. This has always been a problem with this location. Do not expect a private, romantic evening at this restaraunt. But, if you enjoy food, this is the place."

  • "Pachamama's is great! The menu is creative - not the one fish entree, one chicken entree, a steak and one or two other items that you see on many menus. The food is always delicious and creatively prepared. The wine selection is good and reasonably priced. The waiters are knowledgable about the menu and wine list and make good suggestions. The service is very good. We noted they always serve on the left, clear on the right. The atmosphere isn't fancy, but is attractive. It's not stuffy. We live in Kansas City and visit several times a year because we enjoy Pachamama's so much."

  • "While the decor in the dining room is interesting - much use of shattered-glass panels - the real draw at Pachamama's is the food. My wife, who is not an adventurous diner, really liked the pepper-crusted marlin and lemon-grass risotto and was tempted into trying the seaweed-crab citronette with which it was served. My rosemary and fennel grilled pork chop was excellent, very moist and tender even though completely cooked. The blend of blackberry gastrique with the morel spaetzle and fiddleheads, which you might think of as "too many flavors" was, instead, a tasty accompaniment to the pork. Pair the great food with really good service and we had a completely enjoyable birthday dinner."

  • "This restaurant tries to be good and the service is very good. However, for an expensive restaurant the decor and feel of the restaurant is too casual. Additionally, many may find the menu quite limited and very "artsy" for a college town. My wife felt that her food was not sufficiently warm. Two other issues: 1. We had a reservation and when we arrived they tried to seat us at the absolutely worst table in the restaurant (next to the kitchen and where the wait and bus staff come in and out). While many restaurants do this, it is always very dissapointing. We politely asked for a different table and they had no problem with the change. 2. There was a group in the restaurant that was extraordinarily loud. The staff did nothing."

I have now been on three different occasions in the last year and a half, most recently for Mother's Day Brunch, and for each of those occasions I have been satisfied but not impressed. Pachamama's no longer wow's me, and I am saddened by that."

We are seated next to 5 loud drinkers and at no time did management attempt to quieten the table that was disrupting the entire side of the restaurant. We had family visiting from out of state and it was not the dining experience we had promised."

Lately, they seem to have fallen into a rut of serving the same basic dishes all the time, the names may change but the flavors are the same. It is still very good food, so I worry the chef is "playing it safe" but sticking to what has been popular instead of experimenting."

The food was over the top good, starting with a delicious pork and black eyed pea soup and their fabulous onion rings. The service, however was super slow. I appreciate that at dinner, but not lunch. It took is an hour and 45 minutes to eat. I'm not sure if the issue is the kitchen or what, but the dining was not full and I never saw a manager. I highly recommend the food, but be prepared for a long, leisurely lunch. I'd like to try the dinner service, though."

  • "This is one of my favorite places to eat in Lawrence, however I dined there on Valentine's Day and it was probably my least favorite time I had been there. I made reservations weeks in advance on open table and when we got there they stuck us in the back room which is fairly gloomy. Unlike the modern and up-beat front dining room this back room was so cold and drafty that I had to wear my coat the entire time. I asked the waitress if she could turn up the heat but it never got warm. It is a great place to eat but just ask to sit in the main dining room."
