Diner Reviews
  • "Another great meal at Oyster Catcher's. The tuna tartare was perfect and the grouper had an inventive preparation that beats the ever popular fried. Service is crisp and efficient and helpful. When weather cooperates, the outdoor area is very special for a quiet dinner. The indoor part does get loud when large groups are there."

  • "I travel to Tampa on business a couple times a year and I make sure to dine at Oystercatchers - whether for a business meeting or just for myself. The food is to die for and the service is out of this world. Not to mention the fabulous view. I highly recommend it!"

  • "Whenever the mood strikes us for seafood they are the first choice. Food is always the finest. Service is exceptional. SO just a fantastic place to go"

  • "Great seafood! My husband had steak which was just OK for the price (expected more). Server was nothing special (expected more for fine dining)."

  • "I remember Oystercatchers as being a very attractive and service orientated restaurant. What a pity that their standards have declined. We almost felt like intruders when we arrived and were shown to the cocktail bar. The person there was somewhat irritated (it appeared) that we may have interrupted his siesta. There were no 'nibbles' on any table. When shown to a table there was no-one to assist the lady in being seated and no one to arrange the serviettes. There was no butter knife on the side plates and onl one knife and fork when it was likely several courses would be consumed and no soup spoon either. No fish knives and forks. The standards and service are severely lacking."

  • "We met friends for dinner, and wete all extremely pleased with the grouper, Chilean Sea Bass and snapper meals. The view is gorgeous."

  • "We were looking for great food, great service and a great view. Oystercatchers did not disappoint! It is a perfect anniversary location."

  • "I ordered oysters, and they were way over- priced and small. I have ordered oysters in high-class restaurants, and they were not as expensive. I am sorry, but I was disappointed with the food in general."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious! Oyster Catchers is very secluded and it's almost as if it's on an island. The restaurant overlooks the beautiful Tampa Bay."

  • "My husband and I were in town to visit relatives, and asked our hotel concierge for a nice restaurant. We weren't looking to travel very far from our hotel, but when she described Oystercatchers, we decided pretty quickly this is where we would go. (It was about a 30 minute drive.) And I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. Arriving early, we had a cocktail at the bar, where we found the bartender to be engaging despite how busy he was having to take care of tables as well. For dinner, we were given a table by the window with a great view of the sunset. Our server Michael was really friendly and gave us some great recommendations. The special was a tuna filet and shrimp with 3 sauces, each as good as the last. What a wonderful night out."

  • "Went with a party of 6 and enjoyed excellent service & fabulous food. Our server and his assistant were just helpful enough with refilling water glasses and accommodating us without being too overbearing. A talented pianist played a great variety of music, including "Letting Go" right after my daughter walked by him to use the restroom (sweet). The seafood was fresh, the portions were ample, and even for a vegetarian like me, there were enough salad and veggie side item options that I had more than enough to eat. I appreciated that when I ordered the braised greens side, the server was kind enough to ask me if it was okay that it was braised in duck. They offer a kids menu too, although I would not recommend it for young or loud children."

  • "I treated my boyfriend to a birthday dinner at Oystercatcher. We sat outside. It was hot, but the mist fans made it quite comfortable, and the view was breathtaking! Our server was extremely attentive and kept our glasses refilled and the bread coming. The food was delicious. I ordered the Mahi and my boyfriend ordered the red snapper. Both were wonderful! And our crab cake appetizer was the best I've ever had :) To top off the experience, our waiter brought out a birthday dessert of fresh berries and cream.....amazing! We will be back."

Space where were seated was very sterile......Server were good but very overbearing to the point of hovering and interrupting our conversation to ask if we needed anything which was obvious we did not....Probably will not return even though we have many pleasant experiences there in the past.....disappointed"

  • "During a get-away weekend to Tampa from the Sarasota area, my husband and I, and another couple celebrated two birthdays at the Oystercatchers Restaurant. They seated us at a window table for a fantastic view of the Bay. Our waiter, Charlie, was excellent; attentive, fun to interact with, and made great recommendations for everything from appetizers to desert. The Crabcakes have to be the best I've ever tasted, even compared to the infamous Maryland crabcakes! Everyone's entres were fresh and bursting with flavor. The She Crab soup is a must as well, but can be shared to save room for the dinner. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a great experience all the way around."

  • "Oystercatchers remains one of our favorite brunch spots. But, the quality and variety of food has diminished over the past year. $50 is a hefty price for the food they serve. There is alot of it--but the beef is not grass fed and not cooked well. They used to have turkey and ham as well. The fish (snapper) was dried out and swam in a heavy sauce. There was no hot poultry dish. The marinated mushrooms were exquisite as was the asparagus salad. The mixed vegetables were ok. The highlight of the brunch was the omelette bar and the two young gentlemen who went out of their way to find habanero peppers to spice them up. Sitting outside was great! If you like to sit outside, eat alot of food and don't mind paying for it--this is the place. "

  • "I had been to the bunch a few years ago ... It is no longer worth the cost .. It was loud and the food was nothing special .. I can get the same food at many other places in the area for half the cost .. Go to the Hard Rock ..for better food and better service "

  • "Great food and ambiance! We read reviews prior to going and weren't sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised...great service and food! The jumbo shrimp and mahi were perfect...and the prices were on target for the location and experience."

  • "Went there to celebrate a birthday. Amazing view but the service not so amazing. The server could have tried a little harder. She didn't ask if we were celebrating anything or if it was our first time there. We asked if we can get our oysters lightly steamed. Her response "uh i don't know, I guess" ....... Really ? She just wasn't friendly & looked like she had a long day and didn't want to work. I wouldn't go there again, it was a special day & we just had to focus on the good day we had so far rather talk negative on how the service was at dinner. Won't go there again. "

  • "Two couples celebrating 77th and 80th birthdays. A beautiful site, splendid food and wonderful service from the moment you arrive to departure. Only negative was a table of six 30-something guys and gals just behind us. Loud and inconsiderate. Nothing we or our server could do."

  • "The food prepared to perfection and there's a nice variety. Highly recommend. While the Oystercatchers isn't inexpensive it is worth every penny and you don't have to eat a ton of food to make that happen. Love it!"

  • "We dined with another couple from out of state. We started with a cocktail on the deck. What a beautiful view sitting on a comfy couch. Our dinner inside by a window also had a gorgeous view, The guys had oysters and we had salads, the strawberry and the Caesar. Excellent and filing. Tasty bread with a sea salt accompanied these. I had the gulf shrimp which was a lovely presentation. All the meals were above average, portions generous and service outstanding."

  • "Had the South East which was a couple large scallops in a black bean mango jalapeno puree . It was delicious as I saw on the deck watching the sunset . Only dislike was oysters a la carte . They were small compare to what I had just had in New Orleans and over priced it seemed. The ceviche app was a must try as well . "

  • "Went for dinner after show and it did not disappoint. Elegant atmosphere inside w/o being pretentious. We would've loved to dine outdoors but the noseeums were out in full force. Service was perfect, timed well by various wait staff w/o being overbearing. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Enjoyed Canyon Wines made especially for them by Michael Mondavi. We will definitely return. "

  • "Oystercatchers was a hit with our guests from out of town. It was the Florida experience for which they were looking: great view, great food, friendly service. The initial noise level when we arrived for our chosen dining time (2030) was fairly high, but the crowd quickly thinned and we were able to converse in comfort. The food was excellent and the portions generous. Fresh seafood at its finest. We had to wait on our server to express our needs a couple of times, but he and his associate were very friendly. After dinner we had a nice, relatively bugless, stroll on a boardwalk out over the estuary, thanks to the helpful and colorful (former FSU football player) valet who brought our car to us. "
