  • Hip and Chic place in Tampa

Favorite spot in Tampa area for lunch and or brunch. The ambiance is hip and chic for our Tampa standards, finally a place where you feel like you are in a vibrant city (which Tampa is not). The coffee and tea selection is fantastic and presented beautifully. Food is quite good - haven't had a bad meal there yet, but nothing that makes you crave it days later - though the sweet potato fries are yummy. The portions are quite big. Have had the same server there every time we've come and that is my only complaint - he has absolutely no people skills

Not sure what happened to our server but he hardly checked up on us. Anytime we needed something we had to track him down and had to ask him things a couple of times before he would bring it to us. Later on we saw him at the coffee bar chatting up with young females. For the price we pay to dine here the service should be on par.

I've been to Oxford Exchange several times. Every time I've been there for dinner or tea, I've had to deal with inadequate service at some point during my visit. The latest time, the hostess told me that I did not have a reservation at 5 PM even though I showed her the reservation confirmation noting that I did indeed have a 5 PM reservation. The result was having to wait half an hour to be seated. However, I keep going back because the food is good and the atmosphere is outstanding. Hopefully the service will get better soon. I want to mention, however, that the baristas at the coffee and tea bars are excellent, both in terms of service and in the quality of the product they serve.

  • Great atmosphere, too noisy

OE is a blend of bookstore, coffee house, funky finds and restaurant. When it's not very crowded, the noise level is great and the food is ok. In their rush hours, the food is still ok but the noise rises to the point that it feels like you're at a concert. People have to yell to be heard among their own table. This is probably due to the wood floor, brick walls and high ceilings. It's a beautiful restaurant, but throw some fabric or foam on the walls and floors to absorb those deafening sound waves.

Being at the OE is a little like being in NYC and I'm so happy we have you in Tampa! However, the dining room is much too noisy for my taste, particularly for business meetings, the patio is somewhat quieter. The food is different, good and above average, but it is not excellent. I've only been there for lunch so things may be different at breakfast and dinner!

The Oxford Exchange was a unique experience! The atmosphere stimulated my senses to a point of pure bliss! I have been raving about OE to anyone that will listen! Being a tea and coffee fanatic, this place is the perfect set up to bring a date, friend or family. As far as the food it was mediocre nothing spectacular. I wouldn't go back to eat, but to have a tea and a small muffin or pastry would be enough to satisfy.

  • OE Changed the Dining Scence in TPA
    passionate4food

The OE has changed the dining scene for the better in Tampa. Once a little on the boring side, OE gives Tampa access to great food and ambiance in a cool historic building in the heart of Tampa. Now, many others are following their lead, proving that Tampanians do have a pallet for something other than cookie-cutter food establishments that serve up copious amounts of questionable food cheaply in a dull, boring atmosphere devoid of any character.

It was our first stop after arriving at Tampa International Airport. Buddy Brew cappuccino and iced Caramello hit the spot. The mahi sandwich was deliciously spicy and the slaw is a refreshing change from run of the mill cole slaw. The Oxford Exchange is breathtakingly beautiful and is always a favorite when we are in Tampa.

This is the fourth time in 2 years that I have been to Oxford Exchange to eat lunch. After the first time, it was always at the suggestion of the friend I was joining for lunch and not my choice. This time around was basically like the last three times, the service was poor to middling and the food was just okay and overpriced. Two salads, an iced team a diet coke and a chickpea appetizers for 61.00, that was after the diet coke was taken off the bill (we had to ask) for having a piece of tinfoil in it. The best thing about this restaurant is the ambience. Next time I will make the suggestion of where to have lunch.

Oxford Exchange is a great addition to Tampa - very energetic and fun with a cool vibe. Food is always spot-on incredible. Service is usually a bit slow, but the languid pace provides more time to enjoy your company and meal. We asked three times for more water before getting any. The menu is fabulous; I've never had anything but delicious food here. The noise level is fine for a party of four, but anything larger, it would be difficult to communicate. I actually like the noise level as it indicates excitement in the air.

The ambiance of the building itself was amazing. The food was good, not exceptional, but still worthwhile. Considering the cost, I would not go frequently, but it was a good experience. Our waiter was nice, seemed a tiny bit cocky, but not too bad, so I just overlooked it. The building and the TU campus right there is lovely and a must see.

I came here with three of my friends from school, were all 15 and the service was amazing. They treated us like adults and were amazing servers. The food was great and we had fun looking around, afterwards, we walked over to oe market and it was really cool, I got a juice and one of my friends got a kale and quinoa salad. The only thing would be spacing the tables out a little bit, because we were next to a party of 16 and it was really loud. Other then that it was an enjoyable experience.

The atmosphere in Oxford Exchange is unique and splendorous. For dinner, I had the organic fried chicken breast over mashed sweet potatoes and collard greens. The chicken was perfectly cooked and everything was deliciously seasoned. The only reason I gave four stars for service is because we had a new server in training. But overall, I will return to the palace that is Oxford Exchange.

The menu at the Oxford Exchange is always excellent. I have been there many times throughout the past year or so, and it's always a treat, whether I go for a family brunch or just coffee with friends. Usually the service is adequate. However, this past time, the hostesses did a very poor job. They forgot about my party. In addition, I needed to add a 7th person onto my reservation (you can't do this online) and I left two messages (day before and day of) and no one responded. When I went to the restaurant, they acted like they wouldn't seat us. They ended up letting the 7 of us have a table upon our persuading, and it was reasonably comfortable.
