Getting there

  • Parking Details: We have 20 paid parking stalls directly behind the restaurant. Parking after 6:00pm is a $5.25 flat rate through IMPARK. Street parking is also available for free, 7 days a week after 6:00pm, as well as on Sundays and holidays.
A word from Ox and Angela Restaurant

Ox and Angela is a Spanish inspired restaurant and tapas bar that is dedicated to the easy, good food and dining attitude of Spain.

We use local, Alberta product as much as possible and change our menu seasonally.

Come for a custom or classic cocktail in the bar before joining us in the dining room.

We are open seven days a week for lunch, dinner & drinks, and Saturdays & Sundays for brunch at 10am. Please refer to our website for a current menu and upcoming special events.

  • "Heard great things about this place, decided to try it out on a date. Did not disappoint. Menu was slightly overwhelming at first (doesn't help we are both extremely indecisive people)but eventually we settled on the tuna, scallops, meatballs, lamb sausage, broccoli, and stuffed pepper. Tuna was phenomenal. Scallops were outstanding. Just overall a fantastic meal. The six dishes were more than enough for the two of us, probably could have done with five. Noise level rose as the night went on, by the end it was fairly loud. But overall, a great experience. Would not hesitate to come back here."

  • "This was my second time there and it was awesome on both occasions! The feel of the resturant is very homey and welcoming! They have a great food and drink menu, and the food is awesome and flavourful. The one down side of the resturant is it was pretty busy both times and it's not the largest building, therefore it gets pretty loud when they're full, but hey that's got to be saying something if they're always busy!! ;P awesome resturant definitely recommend it!!! ;D"

  • "Looking forward to lunch only to have the experience ruined by rotten service. Not familiar with a menu term I asked our server what the word meant. She sneered "its Spanish", then pronouned the term - very abruptly - and walked away. Of course it was Spanish (hallo? we are in a tapas bar!). I went ahead and ordered without asking for advice/suggestions on menu items. I didn't like that all of our tapas were served together and one item came out 25 min after (brought to table by someone from the kitchen - I think the waiter left it sitting). The service ruined what could have been a good meal. I told myself 'everyone has a bad day' and left 18% tip. Fed up with servers treating customers like morons."

  • "I love Ox and Angela, the relaxed welcoming atmosphere, hands on wait staff and delightful food. What's not to love? The tapas is always a delight, the stuffed Persian dates to a fresh Kale salad. Every bite is full of flavour and freshness. I've been for brunch and dinner and always go with new friends to watch their reactions to each dish. Never disappointed. Always delighted. Make sure you book a reservation although if you do end up sitting at the bar, you get to watch the bartender hand cut sangria and squeeze blood oranges for samosas, which are to die for. This is a beautiful restaurant with tons of different things to try, I will never get tired of the Ox and Angela."

A great atmosphere however we would likely only come here on special occasions as the price is a little beyond our every day dining budget.   • "Disappointing. Drinks are expensive at $13 per Mojito. We requested "complimentary" bread while waiting for our meal but were charged for the bread. We also requested the sausage be excluded from the paella, it was not removed, the dish was luke warm and portion size very small, certainly not a dish for two as listed in the menu. Our waitress kindly removed the charge for the Paella. However, I would be reluctant to return to the restaurant or refer friends."

  • "We love tapas, and the menu didn't diappoint. We ordered 6 dishes among the 2 of us and were stuffed. We did order the 16 oz ribeye which came under cooked for my hubby as I ordered it med/rare but it came rare which was a shame.. But it was delicious for my liking. The wrapped figs and cauliflower were amazing. Tables are spaced quite close but that's basically what u get downtown now a days.. Definitely will return."

The food at Ox and Angela is exceptional as well, but for us, the service made this an amazing experience. Everyone that came near our table provided exceptional service: from the man who brought our wine and chatted about the menu, to a different server who brought a dish, to a woman kept our water filled, to our wonder female server. They all worked together as a team. It was perfect."

  • " I understand that on a busy occasion you can expect slower service, but after we received the first 3 plates together and then waited 20 minutes for the other 3 plates, which arrived together. Meanwhile, our server was far more interested in flirting with the two intoxicated girls at the table beside us than us, as when we wanted to order more it was impossible to get his attention to get a menu and once we got one he didn't return to take our order until about ten minutes (and two visits to the drunk girls) had passed. Same deal when we were ready to order dessert. The food is always amazing, but this server was not. I wish I could deal exclusively with the BA's and bussers who are always so kind and clearly work the hardest."

Also, the food was served on pieces of wood, which looked cool, but there were cracks in and the server who brought our food took away the plates on the table; our eggs got into the crack and leaked all over the table. We were told by our server (whom I had to flag down for a plate because she was effectively ignoring us) that she usually recommends that the table keep them. We have to replate our own food? I understand that presentation is a huge part of eating out, but why would you make your table replate their food instead of presenting them with dishware (or even sealed wood plates) that is suitable to be eaten from? Completely ambivalent about returning."

  • "My boyfriend and I came here for dinner at 9pm on a friday night and it was a good thing we made a reservation because there were only a couple empty tables and more people trying their luck as walk-in diners. The atmosphere is great, the décor is lovely, but during the time we came it was so loud that we had to lean over the table and strain our voices to have a conversation. There is really not much that can be done about this and you get used to it after a while (and some drinks) but it's good to keep in mind in case you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner. We ordered 6 dishes and loved 5/6. I have been here before and always order the sourdough, asparagus, mushrooms, meatballs, and churros for dessert. Didnt love the new kale salad."

  • "The host & servers made a concerted attempt to meet our needs without being intrusive. Our waiter was knowledgeable about wine and knew both the wine & food menu well. He easily gauged our priorities. The restaurant was very busy and, while it was nice not to feel rushed, there were some long gaps in the service. We loved all the healthy choices on the menu and the tapas menu allowed us to taste a wide variety of choices. Everything was delicious! My favourites were the duck breast and kale salad while my companion's top choices were the tomato salad and the ahi tuna. Sadly, I'll have to wait for a special occasion to come back; dinner for two, two glasses of wine each plus tip was $180!"

Their recent modifications to The Spanish Table were very tasty. The wait staff was very attentive, yet they did not interrupt us while we talked (I wish that more restaurants would figure this out). I would (and do) recommend this restaurant to everyone."

  • "Been to Ox & Angela on quite a few occasions. Food is always spectacular. Service is always fantastic. On three separate occasions there, I have had the privilege of have Nathaniel helping me out. He is extremely attentive, his menu knowledge is always incredibly accurate, and he has an awesome attitude. I started the evening with two people, then my party grew to around 8 people, 2 hours later. Nathaniel, and the whole Ox staff were extremely accommodating with the tables and space, and didn't at all seem annoyed or displeased with the situation like almost any other establishment would. Keep up the good work. Thank you Ox, and a HUGE thank you to Nathaniel."

Barb was our server and she let the evening unfold with layers of tastes, wines and information on the food. The food presentation was artfully crafted. This has become my new favorite place to eat whether I'm entertaining or just want to enjoy a romantic dinner. Amazing!!"
