Diner Reviews
  • "Very good food, great wine listing and excellent service made for an enjoyable evening to meet friends. Noise level went up and down dependent upon how full the restaurant was, but overall manageable."

  • "We loved the relaxed, casual atmosphere of this restaurant. We wanted somewhere where we could catch up with friends over great food and wine and we we able to do exactly that. The servers were knowledgeable and attentive but did not hover and make us feel uncomfortable. We really enjoyed our evening here and will definitely recommend it to friends."

  • "The best food in North America. I fly from New York just to eat here."

  • "My friends and I had a great experience at lunch enjoying the travel through new tastes and combinations. The restaurant was quiet enough to easily have conversation and we had a great time. Certainly would recommend this spot."

  • "Great atmosphere, wouldn't take clients again but definitely with a group of friends!"

  • "Ox and Angela was so-so for me. Their tapa selection is vast and the ones that stood out most definitely were: - Scallops - Asparagus - Tuna They were great but IMO, isn't enough for a second visit. Other than that, it was lackluster. The paella wasn't bad but wasn't stellar. It was typical stuff with nothing new to rave about. Portions are odd: big, giant spoon that comes with the paella is useless in a shallow serving pan. I most likely would not return."

  • "Ox & Angela is consistently fantastic. A beautiful space, with tremendous service and delicious food. It is surprisingly reasonably priced considering the amazing quality of the food. It can get quite loud in the evening (i.e. not the best choice if you're looking for an intimate place for deep conversation over dinner) but it's great for a group gathering. Everything on the menu is amazing, never once been disappointed in a dish. Brunch is also fantastic. Wine list goes on for days and is full of excellent choices."

  • "I have been now to this restaurant 3 times, and each time my group has experienced high-quality food and the highest quality of service. Though the price point is a bit higher than I would regularly pay for a dinner out, it is worth every penny. I am definitely a loyal Ox & Angela customer and am excited for my next opportunity to eat there again."

  • "Incredible food an service. We were not disappointed. We ordered 10 dishes for the 4 of us. We found it to be a little too much food so I would recommend 2 dishes per person. Every dish was delicious! The tuna was the highlight. We had the rose sangria and everyone loved it! We will go back."

  • "Food was delicious, service was excellent. We were there at 5:45 on a Friday; SO GLAD I MADE A RESERVATION. Ox and Angela was a very busy little spot, I highly recommend a reservation."

  • "I took 3 clients for dinner on Friday, bill came to $250 with drinks. Service and food-taste were good. Portions were pathetic. My only "wish" was to try the Paella ($35). What came was a tiny "cute" fry pan with a couple of small pieces of chicken. Totally disappointed. If you have had Paella in Spain - lower your expectations. Go for the drinks - I wont be back for the food."

  • "we had their sunday brunch tapas to share. The price was very reasonable especially considering the quality of the food. You could tell they used very good ingredients. Our server was very informative about the menu and very attentive. Everything was delicious. Only complaint is that it seemed very loud even though it wasn't that busy."

  • "I've been to Ox & Angela a few times before and this was a disappointing experience. Every time I have had The Brunch Table menu they have either removed an item from the list or shrunk the serving size without changing the price, this time the eggs benedict was half the size. There was too much salt on half the dishes. The food took a long time to come for the second wave of dishes and was a bit cold. The server did not check in on us and we had to ask someone else for the bill."

  • "Great dishes and wine list, the brunch table is a great opportunity to try a few different dishes and also perfect portions. Will have to come back and check out your evening dishes. Great job !!"

  • "Our group of six was seated quickly. The service was some of the best I had in Canada (I'm from London, UK). It was discreet and polite with adequate presence without being overbearing or too familiar. It was too noisy for me. Most of what my friends were saying most of the evening was unheard by me if they weren't shouting—hardly a recipe for a civilized conversation. The food was tasty and menu choices were comprehensive, but the portions were small and the prices were big. Four small pieces of gluten-free bread was $7. I will probably not eat there again because I thought the food overpriced. I would recommend it to others though for the menu and for the quality of service."

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Ox and Angela! The fried goat cheese was amazing!! The only negative is that the tables are a bit too close together! Once another couple sat down we felt they could hear everything we said! Maybe a table or two less in the dining room!"

  • "This was our first time here. The food was especially good and unusual. Each Dish was served one at a time and was piping hot. The service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely come back."

  • "We chose this restaurant as something new to try to celebrate a family birthday. To start, we had the stuffed dates (fantastic). We chose 3 tapas per person as well as the paella. Way too much food! We were stuffed. Some dishes were meh (like the patatas bravas) others were fantastic (mushrooms). Overall I recommend this dining experience."

  • "This past weekend was the 4th time I've been to Ox and Angela - the menu has changed and did not fail to impress...once again! Our group of 4 all had The Spanish Table. I can't recommend it enough, everything was tasty and portions were perfect. The only thing that was a little off-putting was the noise when we first arrived - we had a small table but it was hard to hear the person across from you speaking. It did quiet down shortly after 8 so the rest of our meal was enjoyed in a nice atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We frequent a lot of Calgary's great restaurants and this was by far one of our best experiences. We highly recommend the spanish table. Everything on it is amazing and the pace and service that it is served at is fantastic. We were extremely impressed!"

  • "We have been coming to Ox many times this summer, and multiple times a week. We were incredibly disappointed and embarrassed during our recent encounter. An effort was made in the end to have the situation rectified, which was appreciated. But it should never have gone as far as it did."

  • "Of the 9 dishes our table ordered it was hard to pick our favorite, but we finally settled on the stued persian dates. It was a wonderful dinner with great service."

  • "The chef must be very highly trained or a natural artist when it comes to preparing fresh ingredients. By far the best dinner I've had in Calgary."

  • "No any seefood in Pealla at all. Hanger beef and duck brest are not tender and juicy at all."

  • "I had never been to Ox and Angela, neither had either of my friends. I'd heard that the food was pretty good, and tapas dining appeals to me because you get to share and try different dishes you may not have tried before. We really enjoyed every dish we ordered, the food was excellent and our server was really good, attentive, and very friendly and accomodating. I think it could be good for certain business lunches, as well, anyhow, I'll certainly return."

  • "Ox & Angela will not disappoint! Providing a range of tapas from the mouth watering stuffed dates (I literally need a 5 minute cool down after eating one due to the mix of sweet and savory flavors with the perfect hint of course salt), to the fresh salads, Serrano ham stuffed pepper and a notable wine list. This is the perfect restaurant for anything from a quick glass of wine and appy to start the night, a fabulous preset 10 tapa Spanish Table dinner where you take your time and enjoy the flavors and atmosphere, or even a post-show dessert (the Churros are amazing) and glass of port. A must try restaurant in Calgary with something for everyone!"

  • "The food is great! The service is amazing! It's my go to restaurant for whatever occasion."

  • "Fantastic restaurant. Plenty of great dishes to share with your friends and/or family. The service was great. They made sure we were taken care of and the food came out quickly. Expansive drink selection. They have a few signature cocktails that are all good. My favorite was the Ox. It packs a punch but is still very smooth and enjoyable."

  • "This really was an incredible dining experience. Every mouthful of our dinner was a taste treat. We began with the stuffed dates which we're misture of sweet and salty - very tasty. Next we had the stuffed peppers which were amazing. The scallop dish was cooked to,perfection and the lamb sausages were a nice spicy end to the dinner. We accompanied our meal with a glass,of tempranillo a perfect pairing choice. Our only regret was that we had no room to try more of this delectable food. Ox and Angela is a real find."

  • "The chairs we were sat in are made of metal and very uncomfortable. My wife is pregnant and so we requested to be moved to a cushioned seating area- After many uncomfortable minutes, the server came and finally agreed to move us. You would think I had asked them to rebuild the entire restaurant, and it wasn't even busy! - We both felt uncomfortable and so we left."

  • "Ox is a go to for us. Incredible service and authentic dishes that bring me back to Barcelona. A little noisy on the busy nights for a dinner, but great overall."
