Getting there

  • Parking Details: We have 20 paid parking stalls directly behind the restaurant. Parking after 6:00pm is a $5.25 flat rate through IMPARK. Street parking is also available for free, 7 days a week after 6:00pm, as well as on Sundays and holidays.
A word from Ox and Angela Restaurant

Ox and Angela is a Spanish inspired restaurant and tapas bar that is dedicated to the easy, good food and dining attitude of Spain.

We use local, Alberta product as much as possible and change our menu seasonally.

Come for a custom or classic cocktail in the bar before joining us in the dining room.

We are open seven days a week for lunch, dinner & drinks, and Saturdays & Sundays for brunch at 10am. Please refer to our website for a current menu and upcoming special events.

  • "We had a 10pm reservation and we still had to wait, however the hostess came over with champagne and offered an apology by 10:20 we were seated. Our server was fantastic, she was knoelegable about the food and had great suggestions for how to order for a group of 6. The food was delicious, there were a few true foodies in the group and even they could only find slight flaws! I haven't had such a great server in a long time and it's amazing how much she contributed to the overall dinning experience!"

  • "We went on Saturday night and ordered the Spanish Table. Great decision! Every one of the ten 'courses' was spectacular. The portion sizes are just right, so at the end we were full, but not bursting. Our server was fantastic - always there at the right time and had great wine recommendations as we aren't up on Spanish wine. This is by far one of my favourite places to go in Calgary and I recommend it to everyone."

  • "I can't believe it took us this long to check out this restaurant. I had dismissed it previously as somewhere that was just trendy and cool with certain crowds and maybe a place to see and be seen; I don't even care about any of that anymore, because if there were any hipsters or "cool kids" in the crowd they faded out when the wonderful service and incredible food took centre stage. Our server was exceptional and recommended an amazing glass of wine after I didn't love the cocktail I ordered (she said that she would not charge me for a drink I didn't like), and I actually told the guy who brought us one of our dishes that the food was "stupid good". Eat here. We will return!"

  • "This was my first time to Ox and Angela and was very impressed.....with the ambiance, the service, the pricing, and of course, the delicious food. We ordered the Spanish Table menu for two plus an order of duck breast. We don't eat large meals and the server thought ordering the duck breast might end up being too much...she was right. We did our best and ended up leaving some Mediterranean salad and pan con tomate untouched. It was really nice eating tapas style...a good variety of dishes, nothing boring, no tastes duplicated...and it was especially great having our dishes served at a relaxing pace, not thrown on our table all at once...received three dishes at a time, never got the impression we should eat faster, and new dishes came only after we were done with the three on the table...Really appreciated that. I had heard good reviews about the restaurant for a couple years but just didn't make the effort to go until now. Will definitely be making the effort to visit more often."

  • "This is the fourth visit we made to this establishment, and Ox and Angela proves that even if you have fantastic items on the menu, sacrificing them in order to introduce new items is an extremely successful strategy. The fact is that the changing tapas on offer not only keep the restaurant interesting, but underscore the point that Ox and Angela strives to emulate a truly Spanish tapas foundation - find something that is good at the moment, and offer it to customers. Moments change, ingredients change - but the overriding principle at this place appears to be to stay just ahead of the curve, so as to delight the customer and ensure they come back for more. This is a recipe for success - I will definitely be back again, and again."

  • "We ordered the Jamon Serrano for $15, and out came 5 thin slices on a piece of wax paper. I asked the server if this was the usual portion, i.e. $3/slice. She responded by saying, "Yeah, it is coming in all the way from Spain". Fair enough, it is coming from Spain, but so are most deli meats at Mercato's and Teatro's and they aren't marking it up 200%! To end this note we ordered with the Jamon, a $4 order which was four slices of sourdough bread and a 11" pan of paella ($36). I consider myself a foodie, dining out at least 4x a week to places like Mercato's, Cibo, Teatro's, Divino's, Market and Model Milk, and I would only recommend Ox if you are desperate to eat at a non chain restaurant and all of the mentioned restaurants are full. Really meager portions even for a "trendy" restaurant."

  • "I had heard about it from my friends at work, and I wanted to have a celebratory dinner for my best friend! Booking a table for 6 was very easy and we had an great time! Tapas was an awesome I dea for a group, we just kept on ordering throughout the night! The food was so great, my favourite was the sautéed mushrooms with the poached egg! UNREAL!"

  • "A good meal, not a great one, but the night was a success non the less due to the combination of ambiance, service, wine and food. We started with the olives and anchovies, which were decent but very small servings - I know it's a tapas restaurant but still... Then we moved on to patatas bravas - wow! This is an outstanding dish and highly recommended. We had these arrive at the same time as our mushroom/toast/egg croquettes which are very good as well. We followed this with the duck, a mediterranean salad, and some more wine. Service was phenomenal - they were there when we wanted but not too hover-y. A great evening thanks to the leisurely pace and wonderful variety of food. Recommended."

I would highly recommend coming here and ordering a wide array of items - the fun of the experience is trying tons of new things. Service was good and quick, never had an empty wine or water glass and the food came out surprisingly quickly. Will be returning."

  • "The food was excellent, I had the 12 oz. Wagyu. I would rate it 4.5 stars if that was possible. It was delicious, half a star off because it started to taste oily and salty after a couple of bites. The service is top notch, water kept on being refilled after couple of sips, waitresses often coming by and asking how we're doing and if we need anything else. Lots of first dates going around. I went with a friend and we had a corner table, it was a good spot to people watch. ;)"

  • "Their raison d'etre is Spanish tapas so sharing is the order of the day. Ordered 6 dishes plus the paella. Wanted to order more but our server advised otherwise and he was right - we were pretty full by the time we finished. Best dishes for me was the beef short ribs (so tender!) and the scallops. A hiccup or two with the wine - they did let us sample our 1st choice which led up to pick another one which was not in stock so we ended up with our 3rd choice. Small quibble - I sat facing the banquette and the available light was too dim for my fading eyes to easily read the menu."

  • "The restaurant staff were attentive; however, we felt like we were rushed with the food. We chose the Spanish Table to be able to sample a variety of items. The food came out so fast that we didn't get to take our time to enjoy each item. It was not like they had people waiting for tables either - there were several tables that were empty. The food was good for the most part. Found one of our two short ribs to be all fat which was disappointing as they were flavourful. Favourites were the Croquettas, Tuna and Patatas Bravas. We were looking forward to a grown-ups only evening enjoying tapas and unfortunately dinner was over in less than one hour! We had a hard time finding parking as well. Won't rush back :("

  • "The food is great, service is friendly and prompt and there is a European feel. The tables are very close together and you are surrounded by conversations (I like it). Next time I go I want to sit at the bar where the action is and maybe even figure out how they make those amazing Blood Orange Margaritas. There was four of us going through the Tapas menu and having a few drinks and it did not break the bank."

The eggs benedict with blood orange hollandaise was good - perhaps my expectations were too high after reading about this dish and all of its glory in Avenue Magazine. However, the eggs were poached perfectly. The breakfast hash dish looked promising but ended up being basically potatoes and mayonnaise with an egg on top. We did receive excellent service."

  • "I was terribly disappointed. O&A has been my favourite restaurant for years, however for my friends birthday it was another story. I had raved about this restaurant and the service. Our waiter was not wanting to be there & in turn was incredibly rude. We had one person order the paella, two order steak & the other two were sharing tapas. Our tapas were out within minutes...leaving us feeling incredibly awkward that we were to eat without the rest of the table having their meals. About 20 minutes later the paella and about 15 minutes after that the steak. After being shocked as to how quickly the tapas came out we requested that they please hold off on our plates until all of us could eat together, we were refused."

Our dinner service was over within about 30 minutes, when what we wanted was to sit and enjoy ourselves a bit. Unfortunately that sullied what would have otherwise been a great dinner experience."

The energy is alive and well. Not really a place for a romantic dinner fro two. The décor offers relatively clean lines, simple yet classic. Glass cased wine display with open floor concept, black leather booth seats , soft white lighting and an engaging bar area tempts the visual senses . The food is tapas style- several tasty spanish morsels that you fills your appetite rather quickly. Paired with a perfect spicy red wine and you're good to go.It is on the rather loud side but this is to be expected for a long overdue friends catch up coupled with really fun food!"

  • "Great date spot because you get to do share-zies with multiple little plates of yummy goodness (tapas!). I find Tapas great because the ingregients and flavous are so unique. A whole meal of just one of these dishes could be overwhelming, but the smaller portions allow you to mix things up and try things you maybe wouldn't order off a conventional menu. Great service and wine list too! Warning: Although I said it a great place to take a date, it is definately NOT an intimate and quite spot. Be prepared to have to lean in and speak up, but that's just part of the vibe... awesome!"

  • "We chose this restaurant specifically for the Iberian ham. Everything about the evening was exceptional. Our server was delightful, professional, experienced in Spanish tapas and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. She was also helpful in explaining how to order from the many tapas choices. We each chose 2 items plus some extra almonds and olives for the table. Each dish was unique, flavourful and nicely presented -- offering a taste to each of us. It was exactly enough for the 4 of us. The wine was outstanding. We will definitely be back -- often."
