Our server was so polite and very, very friendly but he was really new and had a thick accent and struggled a little with the English language. It did cause a little bit of frustration and delay but overall, he was so nice we were able to overlook it. He just needs more practice.

Great food. I had the papparadelle bolognese and it was delicious. They make their own pasta at the restaurant as well as the sauce. Our party ordered a variety of dishes which were also good and They had a nice selection of draft beers and wine. Parking can be problematic and I wish I knew about the complimentary valet parking before scouring the area for a space. While our waiter was very good, it seemed as if they were short staffed so service was slower than I expected. Although part of this's as our fault as we wanted to chat over drinks before ordering. The noise level was such that one side of the table could not hear what the other side was saying. We will return for the food is good.

We sat outside and had the pizza and salad. The bibb lettuce was sprinkled with dates and gorgonzola, and a nice dressing. The pizza was terrific. as usual, with a thin crisp crust, and the sausage was wonderfully seasoned. Nice beer and wine selection.. We love this place!

Caesar Salad: straightforward and delicious, crunchy romaine, tangy dressing with a good hint of anchovy Arancini: deep-friend rice balls with mushrooms, like the high-class version of hush puppies with savory goodness, would be a great bar food Braised beef ravioli: reminded me of beef stroganoff, not outstanding but tasty Spaghetti Fra Diavlo: the shrimp were delicious, unique pasta noodles with a flavorful tomato sauce accented by great seafood Service: very attentive and friendly Outdoor seating availability is a plus, wish I got to sit in one of the cushy wingback chairs for dinner all the time!

This was probably our 5th or 6th time going to Ovvio. We go there both as pre-show dining when heading to Angelika theater in Mosaic District and when we're just looking for good Italian dining. Continues to deliver good food at reasonable prices. Service good, too.

Brunch includes $1 mimosas - oh yeah! Husband had filet & egg. He complemented the chef on cooking a perfect egg, and a filet cooked just right. Would have preferred some potatoes instead of arugula with the meal. Pizza with sausage, mascarpone, burrata and black truffle was tasty and rich. Couldn't really taste the truffle. Crust was crispy and chewy. Tasted even better with my husband's arugula! Restaurant has never been full on any prior visit. Great food, good prices and lunch/happy hour offers.

We had the same experience on both visits. The food is very good though the portions are a bit small. The decor is beautiful - sort of a contemporary bistro feel. But the service, while friendly, is a bit lacking. The servers don't know the menu, and service was erratic despite being only one of a handful of tables each time. I hesitate to criticize the staff because they were very nice, but they need a lot more training. I hate to think of what would happen if it was very busy.

Beautiful night to dine outside. Service excellent. Love the special drinks on the menu, especially the pear martini with prosecco. Cheese & sausage plate was perfect - flavorful tastes that everyone really enjoyed. Pizzas here are awesome, including the Bianca & the veggie. Tagliatelle bolognese & ravioli really hit the spot & were perfect with the pizzas we all shared. Will be back again soon!

Ovvio Osteria has an immense amount of potential. But it's falling just short right now. In a 90% empty restaurant, the hostesses didn't know where to sit us when we arrived on time for an early reservation. The wait staff doesn't know the menu like a wait staff should. When asking for a recommendation, the server shouldn't have to come read the menu over your shoulder. The signature cocktails were delicious, though slow to arrive. We always start with a charcuterie and cheese plate. When asking what our choices were, we were directed to two large chalk boards, neither were legible from our seats. The pasta and risotto dishes we ordered were rich, balanced and delicious. But slightly overpriced for the area/quantity. It can be great…soon.

Low/medium budget atmosphere with high end food prices. The food was good but our waiter was not. He left the menu with us the entire meal - they are huge and we had a tiny table. We were seated next to the waiters computer and it felt like the waiters were on top of us. The atmosphere is very much like the Chipolte food chain restaurants.

Happy hour menu is interesting. The daily special bruschetta was generous, but had a slightly unusual flavor that we couldn't identify but did't really care for. The salami platter presentation was lovely and interesting, but the amount of salami was a bit skimpy. We shared a mushroom pizza - again delicious but not overly large. Service was a bit spotty in the bar area. We would go there again because everything was tasty, but not if we are craving a hearty, filling meal.

Looking forward to trying a new place with friends, we were a bit put off by the industrial setting and loud noise (from not many people). The food was okay -- arancini were good, but the bruschetta was nothing but tomato with basil on undertoasted (i.e., limp) bread points. Service was good -- sommelier was quick to replace a bad bottle of wine once we pointed it out, but had recommended something quite off the mark to one of the party. All in all, seems much more a convenient place for after-work Merrifield folks than a place to actually seek out for dinner.

Convenient to the Dunn-Loring Metro stop, this neighborhood gem provides consistently good Italian food at a good price. The quick lunch special (M-Sat; appetizer and brick-oven pizza) for $12.00 is spectacular! The modern decor and open kitchen concept combine to create an elegant, but warm and welcoming, atmosphere. Grazie mille!

Our dinner was enjoyable. More like 3.5 stars. I had the salad with pears ( canned I think) - it was fine. I also had the short rib ravioli which was tasty but had several large lumps of gristle which detracted from the dish. My dinning companion had the caesar salad and pasta with ragu - enjoyed with no complaints. We both had the chocolate desert which was excellent. We enjoyed the dinner and would recommend the restaurant.

We ordered few different entrees , bolognese was great although a bit on the salty side , seafood pasta was good, ravioli with braise beef was great, sausage and margherita pizza was also very good, the calamari and burata cheese appetizer were also very good. Our waiter seems very knowledgeable about the menu. The chef said hello and checked up on us ,he delivered the pizza himself to my little niece, and nice enough to accommodate my sis in laws special request, since she doesn't like spicy food. Overall it was a great experience except for the parking. They have valet parking, it was raining really hard when we got there and the valet guy, I guess did not want to get wet, he told us we can just park ourselves.

We went to dinner for the first time at Ovvio Osteria on Friday, and though the food was ok, nothing special, we did not appreciate the proximity of the other guests dining around us. It wasn't all that crowded, yet we were placed about one foot apart from customers on either side. I understand the use of limited space in places, but the proximity to others just takes away from the overall experience. We do not plan to go back to the restaurant.

Great food in a great package. The only issue I had was that I noticed the restaurant was a little understaffed in my opinion, based on the fact it took a while to get our food. The bartender had to keep running back and forth to check on orders while also tending to the bar guests.

I went with a small group of friends. My second time, my friends first time. The restaurant is located in the newly hip area of Merrifield (never thought hip and Merrifield in the same sentence). This is a foodies place. Really great entrées with unusual twist (wild boar anyone?). Meatballs....yum! Smoked mussels...wow! Cannot complain about tbe food. The first time I want to Ovvio, the service was fantastic. This last time...scored a BIG zero. The waiter was terrible. ..slow...not knowledgeable. ...just all around bad experience. Even the staff that brought the food...would hastily place the food and run off. The restaurant wasn't even that busy to warrant such bad service. I will give it one more shot and hope for the best.

The service was so poor, I have a hard time recommending this place. The food was good, but there were 6 of us having dinner, 5 of our dinners came out after a fairly long wait, the 6 dinner didn't come out for about another 15 minutes (I think the dinner should have been comped, but we barely got an apology), I believe the waiter said something like, "I said something to the chef.....sorry it was so late." Then we asked for dessert - 30 minutes after ordering dessert, it hadn't come - 2 different times I went in and said it was getting late - we had been there 2 1/2 hours and we wanted our check. It took 10 minutes after the second asking to get the check and then the dessert came out! Nothing had been comped - we spoke to the manager.
