My boyfriend and I went out for a date night. Over the Moon Cafe was an awesome choice. I had the bourbon glazed salmon and he had the porkchop. My dish was so good, I definitely was part of the "clean plate club" that night. For dessert we ordered the cinnamon roll cake. OH. MY. GOSH. I never want to eat anything else, ever. Do order this dish. Wonderful atmosphere, romantic and intimate. Definitely will be returning. A short trip from UWT, as well.

We were looking for a quiet place to have dinner with some friends we hadn't been out with for many years. Over the Moon Café was the perfect spot. The restaurant was quiet and we didn't feel rushed to leave once our meal was complete.

This was my first experience at OTM.... let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC! The food was excellent!! The one thing I would highly suggest is that you have to make a reservation! The main dining space is pretty small, and so if you don't have a reservation, you are pretty much shooting in the dark if you will get a table. That being said, I did make a reservation, but my friend and I showed up 30 minutes early... they were VERY nice and seated us right away anyways. Great staff and fantastic food and in a very unique atmosphere.

The food was good but the service was terrible. The server was not friendly, attentive or welcoming. A table next to us didn't get their appetizer until after their meal was served. They had to request it as the server forgot it. Another table ordered dessert and coffee. The server didn't get them their coffee until after they finished their dessert. It was noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation. I wish I would have taken the other reviews criticizing the service more seriously and picked a different restaurant.

Everytime my husband and I have the opportunity for a date night, which is very seldom, we choose to dine at Over the Moon. The food is so consistently delicious and the service is a balance of attentive and familiar. They make you feel like family. Typically it's just my husband and myself, but we have come before with a group as large as eight. The food can't be compared to any other restaurants and pair this with the ambience and service and it makes for a wonderful experience.

My 2 long-time girl friends and I love to find a reason to celebrate; Friday night we got to celebrate our friendship. My Bourbon glazed wild salmon filet was cooked to perfection, as was the Sage Chicken my friend had. The Argento malbec may or may not be what a wine connoisseur would recommend, but my taste buds loved it. The ambiance enabled us to talk, relax, then walk a few blocks to the theater. We booked an early dinner and the helpful waitress inquired if we were going to the theater so she could serve us in a timely manner. I've been here many times, feel Tacoma is lucky to have this gem as a dining place. Glad to live close enough to go when we have a special reason to celebrate!

Our server, Alex, was very attentive despite being super busy. He was great! The food was great as well, particularly the crab bisque and the duck. Yum! It's a little expensive for just a normal dinner out; two entrees, an appetizer and a bottle of wine put as $100. But for special occasions it's perfect.

Every part of the experience was exactly what we had hoped for on our first(but definitely not our last) visit to Over the Moon. We were celebrating our 47th anniversary and wanted some place different, but special. BINGO! We went at 6:30 on a Tuesday, which may be why we found the noise level to be quiet. Our waiter was attentive, but not clingy. The spinach and heart of romaine salads were a good size, fresh and nicely dressed. The Tuscan Chicken and the Flat Iron Steak entrees were excellent! Both were deliciously hot and tender, perfectly seasoned, nicely accompanied by vegetables done just so. Everything was as the menu promised. OTM provides a generous pour of wine, and an interesting dessert menu. No dessert for us, though.

I came here with 2 girlfriends for an early dinner at 4:30 on a Friday - we made reservations which was a good thing because the place got full closer to dinner time. The atmosphere is super romantic and cozy with low lit lights but pretty small. Large groups probably aren't what they are known for. They have more tables for 2 or 3 people, with cute cushioned, floral print chairs. Our waitress was very nice and on top of things. The cook made a mistake on one of our orders, it was ordered gluten free and the chef made it with noodles. As our waitress was serving the dish she noticed right away that it was not gluten free, apologized profusely and took it back to the cook to correct it.The food was amazing though, overall great experience.

There were at least 6 or 7 of the entrees that I wanted to try. I choose the duck breast which was the best I've had since France - perfectly medium rare and tender with a delicious port/cherry reduction. I liked the timing of the service - not a long wait between courses.

The novel of a wine list introduction would make you believe that they would have some good finds, however, the Melbac we ordered was not even as good as the buy one get one frees they have at Bevmo. Food was just OK. Service was less than stellar and the restroom was dirty and a mess. Since it is family owned and I had heard good recommendations from friends, I had high hopes for a new best place in Tacoma.

The restaurant was almost five stars. The food was remarkable and was priced just about right. The ambiance was almost great being kind of a small place it got loud at some times and I was seated on the bottom row which is next to the kitchen and there was no wall or curtain which stopped us from looking into the kitchen. If you book here I would highly recommend requesting on of the top tables. Unfortunately though the service was mediocre at best we waited for half an hour just to get drinks. Hand to wait another hour after that to get our food. So in all it was almost a great place.

What a wonderful, charming spot for date night...my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal from appetizer to dessert...and we highly recommend the ragu entrée! Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. The table we were sat at was tucked away and had a giant book of name meanings, which was a unique way to pass the time. The ambience was enchanting, and Opera Alley, where the restaurant is located, is a special find. We will return!

The service is what really made the night. Our server was very friendly and fully knowledgeable about the menu and what would work best for us. The crab bisque was very good. The wine recommendation fit very well with our meal. All of this while sitting in a kind of goofy romantic little old opera house. Just different and that is why we liked it. We drive up to Tacoma from Portland just to eat at Over the Moon. The plan to have the mushroom mac and cheese was thwarted by the special dungeness crab mac and cheese and it was fabulous, as was my husbands Moon of Montana (roast beef) and Monte Cristo, which was baked, not fried, giving it a fresher taste. Next time lunch will be on Friday so we can have the crab bisque (since dinner is harder for a day trip), which is among the best things I have ever tasted.
