  • "Hidden away in the old town area of Tacoma lies this 5 star restaurant with the most friendly and accommodating staff in surprisingly romantic atmosphere. The experience is incomparable."

  • "I was very impressed with the decor, service and food of Over The Moon Cafe. Such an outstanding find in Tacoma. I am anxious to try dinner. I was also impressed with the communication the cafe provided, down to confirming my reservations and directions. Thank you MJ in Graham"

  • "Amazing, delicious cuisine, but unfortunately we were distracted by the steady noise of an old fan. I've been here at least 3 times before, don't recall the loud, obnoxious droning background noise of the fan. It was so disruptive that it was hard to carry on a conversation and my friend developed a bad headache from it. There were a few quiet moments, but the server said that was because they weren't cooking, didn't need the fan on. The building is so old that the fan is noisy. I sure wish they could resolve that problem, as it had been my recommendation that we go there. Now I'm not so sure if I'll return."

  • "Celebrated our 5 year anniversary at this place... It was our first time to Over The Moon Cafe... But after how good the food was... It will become one of our favorite go-to places for a good date night! Had a great experience all around and can't wait to dine there again :) "

  • "What a great find in Tacoma. We went for my husband's birthday and we will definitely go back. The waitress is the owner's daughter and she is so very friendly and fun and tried so hard to make everything perfect. The restaurant was full and yet she took time with everyone. She is amazing! My husband had the pork chop and it was great and I had the salmon which was also good. The strawberry shortcake was wonderful and I had the gluten free three berry dessert that was almost like a cheesecake and it was fantastic. The restaurant is in a cute little alley down the street from the Pantages Theater so it would be a great before theater treat. There also seemed to be a large "local" crowd as well. Overall it was a wonderful experience!"

  • "Over the Moon Cafe is such a great little place in Tacoma that most people would never find. Opera Alley is such an off the beaten track place that it is very difficult to even find Over the Moon---but it is well worth the effort. The Moon over Montana sandwich on the lunch menu is my favorite. It is a very tasty sandwich on Dave's Killer Bread with a bit of a spicy taste to it. The hostess is wonderful...you have to feel sorry for someone who makes tens of thousands of trips up the stairs from the kitchen. We just love going there."

  • "We always love Over The Moon....We live a couple of hours away and actually make it a destination when heading South. The staff is very accomodating and pleasant.....and the crab cakes are the best anywhere! I wish we lived closer!"

  • "I really liked the ambiance and the service was excellent but I would have liked more than one dinner option that was vegan friendly. It was pretty good but they definitely specialize in meat-based entrees. The spinach salad was great. "

  • "My friend and I went to Over the Moon Café for lunch before a show at the Pantages Theater. I found this restaurant online and the reviews were good. It is a very short walk from the theater. The food was delicious, healthy and well presented. There was a decent wine list also. The atmosphere is cozy and can be intimate if you go with your sweetie. The service was outstanding. This is a little gem in downtown Tacoma that I will revisit!"

  • "Never disappointing. OTM makes the 3-hour trip from Portland worth it. Fabulous crab bisque and the duck breast did not disappoint (but it never has). As always the server was efficient, friendly and helpful. "

  • "The food was not good. I had the spinach salad and it was like the chef just dumped a bag of spinach on my plate and a hard boiled egg with a tiny bit of hard bacon. There was not enough dressing for the salad either. The salad did help me stay on my diet though!"

  • "Tiny gem in the theatre district of downtown Tacoma. Nice for a quiet romantic dinner. Food was delicious. Only downside - not enough vegetarian or vegan (read none) options!"

  • "We have been to Over the Moon three times now and have not been dissappointed. Great food, wonderful service, friendly staff. Great choice before a show. We used Open Table and it was glitch free. We're glad we did because they were booked up! Over the Moon is my new Tacoma favorite!"

  • "Went here before a show at the Pantages and it was great. I loved the bourbon salmon dish! Very moist and flavorful. The atmosphere is really fun too-nice chairs and curtains everywhere to make it very comfy."

  • "Four of us dined for the first time at Over the Moon a Cafe on a busy Friday night before a concert in the theater district. Despite the fact that ours was one of the last parties to be seated on a night when 90% of the restaurant's guests had the same curtain time, service was superb and cheerful and we were out with time to spare. Food was very good and the ambiance was warm, ecclectic and inviting. Anxious to return. "

  • "We've been about a 1/2 dozen times for dinner and and everything has been good to excellent. Had their take on shepard's pie using short ribs last night and it was terrific. My wife had the prawns in a cream sauce and she could stop raving about the sauce."

  • "I have lived in the area for six months and have been exploring local restaurants. This place stole my heart. The food is consistently the best food I have ever had; high quality and full of flavor. The ambience is peaceful and charming. The staff is friendly with fun personalities and the owner has a true passion for what she does. I want to point out that I travelled a lot prior to moving here and found several really good places throughout the country. I would rank OTMC above them all."

  • "I have had wonderful dinners here on two different occasions - salmon and chicken. Two people at our table had the Shepard's Pie which was not a hit. Service was slow - there seemed to be only one waitress on a Saturday night. Desserts, salad, & bread and wine where great. Nice ambiance."

  • "We all enjoyed our dinners very much (group of four). The waitress was very good at her job, but I think she may have been alone. The crab bisque was superb."

  • "I picked this restaurant based on other reviews I read online to surprise my wife and thankfully we were not disappointed. Friendly staff welcomed us upon our arrival. The main course was delicious (duck and salmon) and reasonably priced. We splurged for dessert (cinnamon roll & apple crisp) and while they were good, they weren't worth their cost. Overall I'd recommend this little secret neighborhood restaurant."

  • "I am usually not one for leaving reviews, however my experience at this restraunt deserves one as I myself am in the food industry. Upon arriving the wait staff was very pleasant and directed us to our table. The menu is small, but has a lot of variety for those that are picky eaters. I had the Australian lamb steak and let me tell you that it was cooked just how I ordered it. The portions were a decent size for the cost of the items and my wife even had leftovers. I will definitely be returning to this gem!"

  • "Had a great meal at Over the Moon...will definitely add this to my growing list of Go To places in T-Town. It's small, maybe a dozen tables, so definitely make a reservation, especially for weekend dinners."

  • "We arrived on time for our reservation and stood in the entry way for almost 10 minutes while the waitress /hostess went up and down the stairs to "check on something." We were then seated right in front of the door, so we were able to enjoy the blasts of freezing air every time the door opened and shut. We couldn't enjoy much private conversation as every patron entering the restaurant was told to "wait here" right next to our table. The food was just ok. The salmon was over cooked and the chicken ragu was one note, one texture. Everything was over salted. We won't go back."

  • "I took my wife here for our anniversary and I must say I was quite impressed. They gave us a secluded dining location to increase the intimacy of the evening. The food was amazing (duck, lamb, asian pear salad, crab bisque) and we both had an amzing time. The waitresses were pleasant and brought us whatever we needed. The food is expensive but it is amazing nonetheless. We could only go there once in a blue moon (no pun intended) but they exceeded my every expectation. Thanks OTMC for a fantastic evening!"
