Diner Reviews
  • "If you're looking for a nice atmosphere with decent food but steps away from the Wolf Trap amphitheater then this restaurant is ideal! It's a nice view of the extended lawn at Wolf Trap and you can literally help yourself to the buffet and have a glass of wine minutes before any show starts!"

  • "This buffet restaurant provides a good parking space when going to Wolf Trap. Although that is the major reason for going here, the food is actually pretty good."

  • "Our group of 4 had a wonderufl dinner at Ovations the night of the Harry Konnick Jr. concert. It was our first time and I would highly recommend it. Since it was buffet style, we thought it would be more like an old fashioned cafeteria style. We were all pleasantly surprised to find a variety of foods available - something for everyone - and a lot of it was quite healthy, We were pleased with the entire experience and would definitely dine there the next time we attend an event at Wolf Trap!"

  • "love the vegetable options, especially the roasted brussel sprouts and the green beans. Gazpacho is good, too."

  • "We enjoyed the buffet with enough time before finding our seats for the performance. I was disappointed the al la carte menu was not available BUT I understand that the CROWD makes it difficult to get al la carte items ordered, cooked & presented quickly. So the buffet is the best way to serve such a big group of people. Food was GREAT especially the roast beef, salmon, fried chicken & brussel sprouts. Desserts looked yummy but no room. $30 was more than I planned to pay for dinner BUT the food was PERFECT. I look forward to my next OVATIONS dining experience - under the tent at Wolf Trap. Thanks so much for a memorable nite!"

  • "So I posted earlier this summer that, in going to an all buffet format, Ovations had improved the quality of its food offerings. Maybe that was just a slow night and they had more time to pay attention, but on this visit the warm (note - not hot) food was pretty much inedible. The salads were not very good but at least seemed fresh (don't bother with the shrimp which had no flavor at all). When the highlight is mass produced ice cream, you know you're not in for much of a meal. At least this time the service was much improved, although still could be better. Considering they are serving the same thing every night to a somewhat captive audience, you'd think Ovations could do a better job, but they obviously just don't care."

  • "Food quality very good for buffet. Very convenient to show as it it just a short walk to theater. Service was very good, friendly and at $29 was a fair value."

  • "Great way to dine before a show. Food is good and varied. But not $100 dinner for 2 with 1 cocktail each."

  • "very convenient when doing a show at WT. The server staff are college students who are always cheerful and attentive"

  • "Ovation is what there is at Wolf Trap. The weather was predicted to be rainy, we had tickets to Wolf Trap and so we reserved at Ovations. This year they have only buffet! It was OK. The setting is lovely and the college servers are in good spirits and try their best to make you feel comfortable. I had a small piece of nice rare roast beef which was good and lots of salads, but there is nothing exciting about either the food or the wine selection. Ovations is the only "game in town" when the weather is predicted to be such that one cannot picnic. I just wish it were a bit better in the food and wine category"

  • "Feasted on salads and vegetables; gazpacho was very good; mashed potatoes and corn excellent. Wait staff was great: friendly college kids working hard over the summer."
