  • "Otto will never fail to please. Nothing on the menu will ever disappoint. "

  • "Food is great, prices reasonable, and great atmosphere. They accommodate children. The tables are arranged so that you can have a conversation without having to speak too loudly."

  • "You can graze for hours here on plate after plate. Each dish as yummy as the next."

  • "Based on most of the reviews I read I thought this would be a great spot to take out of town guest. I was wrong, the food was just ok."

  • "i have been here before, but wow has the service gone down hill. the crowd was annoying (spoiled college kids) and the service was lax... there's a difference between being casual, which i expected and is totally fine, and lacking attention to detail or any notion of seeming like you care. i think mario himself would have been mortified... he needs to spend more time at this location and get it back on track."

  • "Everything is awesome. Pasta was cooked al dente PERFECT! The only let down was the mussles appetizer, hardly any mussels in the dish and it was served cold. Was not a fan of that. Other than that, I loved everything!"

  • "The food was great; our waiter was not. I almost always eat at the bar at Otto and the experience there -- food and service -- never disappoints. I sat in the restaurant for the first time in a long time. We specifically asked to order our courses separately to avoid courses coming out in rapid succession as we wanted to enjoy a leisurely meal. Our server told us he wasn't allowed to let us order that way, but assured us that our courses would be well spaced. If well spaced means that our primi course would come out before we were done with our starters, then I guess he delivered what he promised and we'll have to agree to disagree. He was also absent whenever we needed to order a new wine."

  • "We took visitors from Belgium to Otto because we thought it would be a treat. Far from it. First and foremost, the food was nearly inedible. My husband and I had pizzas from the "special" Otto list. Both were highly seasoned and not in a manner we liked. Mine had some very strange uncooked grated cheese on top which had a sourish flavor. Our guests had pasta carbonara which they ate with little gusto. We had appetizers which were adequate except for my husband's Caprese salad which appeared to be made with canned stewed tomatoes. Hope not. Finally, the noise level at the restaurant was at an exceptionally high pitch. Very unpleasant. So, we will not be returning. Ever."

  • "I went to your restaurant for the first time in 2012, it was excellent !! second time last week and honestly the food was not very good...the pizza was fat and the entries were very simple..... sorry but I will not recommend your place and I will not be back !!!"

  • "This time we were seated in the back room surrounded by children and terrible decor, and a higher noise level of..children. I'd always been seated in the middle room with the dark wood, and will in the future ask to be seated there. Great food and wine, very reasonable prices."

  • "My daughter and I had a wonderful time and a fantastic and reasonably priced meal in a very attractive and fun perfectly lit setting. It was the perfect spot to celebrate her new job. I hadn't been there before (or at least not since it was One Fifth decades ago) and both of us agreed it would be a great spot we each will want to revisit with our friends. The crowd was also great - young, old, hip, not so hip, business, casual, whatever - t's perfect for anyone and for almost any occasion. My salad was fantastic and my pizza was perfect. The wine list is extensive, and I enjoyed my quartino, which was just the right amount for me. Despite being packed the noise level was moderate and we had no trouble hearing each other."

  • "I Love this restaurant. We had an early reservation, which I made very last minute. That meant that the noise level was perfect for us. By 7:30, it was more crowded and noisy. But the food is wonderful. I could eat their pizza every night! All the food is very flavorful and delicious! It's also very unpretentious for a star chef-restaurant."

  • "And the pasta is extraordinary too. I have been here so many times in the past 5 years and it's consistently really amazing food, great service and amazing value for money."

  • "Had lunch with my husband yesterday at Otto. While the food was absolutely phenomenal and service very good, the ambience was loud! Lots of running children. It's sunday in the village so we asked for it! But just be advised this won't be a daytime spot for a romantic meal ;). Still, very very fun and delicious!! Highly recommend the Goat Cheese Agnolotti, Cacio e Pepe Pizza and Asparagus with Pecorino. Mmmmmmm!"

  • "Was only in town for a night staying at a friend's place on the other side of the park after a long-haul flight, so my boyfriend and I were, in our zombie-like jetlagged state, looking for something easy and quick. We could have just opted for a deli, but for some reason I was obsessed with getting pizza... And it was amazingly good. Thin, crispy crust as it should be. Very reasonably priced for Manhattan and the setting. Ginger gimlet wasn't that gingery but still was really good. Rosemary torta was to die for. Restaurant was INSANELY loud though because there were two huge groups celebrating something. Had to yell to talk to my boyfriend across the table, but I dunno, even jetlagged, it didn't bother me really because the food was good."

  • "I came here with my girlfriend on a Sunday night, was looking forward to it. All in all, pizza was good, nothing special, pasta's were eh, (they don't use fresh pasta for 98% of their pasta), and ours came out cold so we had to send it back. The service was very bad, after our appetizers came, our waiter, who was MIA the whole time, cleared our table and gave us dessert menus (we were still waiting for our entrees). I had to ask 3 separate people for a straw, no one ever came over to refill our waters I had to ask 3 times, and I had to order a soda 3 times because no one brought it (unlucky # 3). Nothing special, prices are decent but there are other places with better options."

  • "These are not your standard pizzas. We ordered the cacio e pepe( cheese and black pepper) pizza which was very good and the prosciutto and arugula which was pretty bland- although the crust is quite good. We tried to vegetable antipasi- the cauliflowe alla siciliana and the fava beans fennel and mint. Bith were cold which I didnt expect. The fennel was good, the cauliflower might have been if it was hot- I would not order it again. The restaurant has s wonderful atmosphere and if you're in the neighborhood, the wine and atmosphere make up for just average food."

  • "Otto is one of my wife and my favorite restaurants. This time we were celebrating our anniversary and we were exceptionally happy with the service and the food. I recommend this restaurant to anyone with taste buds."

  • "This is now on my NYC must dine list! The food was perfection- loved our cheese choices and accompaniments! The salsify was a stand-out and the pizza was amazing. We had a great girls night and will be back!"

  • "So we know the MB group well and Enjoy most of the restaurants.based upon what we are after on a given day. I have to say, this overall review may have been jaded from the onset by what is some of the worst service (this as a very tolerant person in the industry most of my life) we have ever experienced. Highlights of server experience included.... waiting 10 minutes before server approached. 10 minutes before next visit with part of our drink order (part of that was wrong). 35 minutes before we ordered food even though we were ready in 10. Server NEVER checked on how we felt about food. Disappeared for 15 minutes when we wanted our check."

  • "We ordered a bottle of wine at the bar while waiting for reservation. Bartender was very busy and started our order, disappeared, came back....finally brought bottle and opened it but couldn't be bothered pouring into glasses. When seated, our waiter dropped off menus...disappeared. Took forever to order. Was hard to get his attention for dessert or more drinks. Busboy reached over me to next table and dropped something on my back. No apology until I called it to his attention. And unfortunately, it wasn't until I got home that I discovered a big stain on back of shirt. The food is decent for the price, but I would never go back. When you factor in the cost of the ruined silk shirt, all value was lost."

  • "We had the best Cacio & Pepe outside of Italy! Wine and cheeses were great as well. However: Our hostess, petite with the brown hair (sorry dindt get a name) needs to regroup and realize that if CUSTOMERS (who pay her salary), don't want to sit beside the bussing station, the response should be a polite Smile and agreement- NO attitude! , however, we politely requested different seating and she attempted to give us a table 2 steps away from the original one! finally got us a table elsewhere along with her nasty silent response. And I as a frequent restaurant diner don't care that the "tables were measured and you won't be disturbed."We all have bad moments /days please remember what really matters in your industry-customers service!"

  • "I went here with my boyfriend and had to wait 15 minutes before we were seated even though we had a reservation. when we were seated, we were stuck in a corner next to another couple. The waiter could barely serve the food easily because of where we were seated. The food came out really fast which was good if you were in a rush but we wanted to have a relaxing meal. Once our entrees came out, the goat cheese agnolotti was really good, but the fungai pizza had WAY too many mushrooms on it and tasted like dirt. I really wanted to like this place but after the experience I had I don't know if i'll be going back."

  • "We had delicious pizza, the place is cute, and not too expensive. The only real complaint was that when we arrived it was not busy at all, but they tried to seat us in the back section which has a bright, cafeteria feel, and there were a couple of families there with little kids. We had to ask to be moved into the main restaurant."

  • "We enjoyed the food very much. Problem was in asking questions about all the Italian food items on the menu...most of the waiters were not well versed in what the items were or the differences between them...i.e. different kinds of prosciutto. Our waiter had to find someone to talk with us, but he certainly wasn't an expert on the menu. I think to really appreciate a dining experience one wants to learn and know about the food."

  • "Air condition wass broken therefore it was a pretty miserable meal. They didn't even offer us anything to offset the very uncomfortable situation. We would have left if we had not already ordered."

  • "I am a fan of italian food and it is the worst tomato sauce i have ever tasted! It tasted tomato paste like if the sauce had been made long in advance! By far the worst italian restaurant I have been to and I have seen a lot!"

  • "Just love the anti-pasta here. Go for the mix of fish, meats and vegetables and you will get fingerlinckingly good food. Great quality of food. It's so Italian. The pizzas are great too. Try their pastas too. If you can, go for one of the fabulous desserts (if you still have some space left)."

  • "It was very loud when we entered the restaurant, tables are very close together. The couple next to us was not pleased and decided to leave before they even ordered, I think it was too loud for them. The table next to us also complained to the watier about the speed of their service. I did not care for the first pizza I ordered so I offered to let my husband eat it and ordered a second pizza instead. Food was okay but did not blow me away. Would not necessarily return to this restaurant again."

  • "No matter what time of day or season, Otto never disappoints. The food is delicious and varied, the room is lively and roomy, and the service is professional and attentive. Mario Batali really knows how to host his guests."

  • "Any wine list with a dozen entries from umbria punches above most everything else in town. I had the clam pie, which was a great blend of creamy and saline, with the clams done separately and dumped generously atop the pie. Very fresh salad and attentive wine service. I didn't like being seated in the back as much; louder and easier to be forgotten, so if you can sit at the counter, you really should. Still, a great spot and they were very good at getting us out early for the concert we were attending."

  • "This is the perfect spot for any occasion. You can count on great service, amazing food and a reasonable bill at the end. This is among one of my favorite spots and one of my go-to's. Great for groups, as well!"

  • "Pizza, pasta and salads were all simple but beautifully done; prices were quite reasonable, something of a shock in Manhattan."
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "Tasty food at very reasonable prices. Service was a bit off (bread was kind of quickly dumped on our table and we weren't offered any olive oil until we were essentially done eating it). Washrooms were a bit of a mess and had a surprisingly public feel considering the type of restaurant it is. Fine for good, simple and affordable Italian food."

    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "Not good for a large group! Our group of 8, most 6 ft and over, we're crammed into a small space making the dining experience poor for us and the tables around us."

  • "I've frequented several Bastianich/Batali restaurants over the past several years and I must say, all really reflect the quality one should associate with this cooking/restaurant 'dynamic duo'. I'm speaking about the casual, but excellent eateries in Eataly as well as Del Posto and of course, the lovely little Lupa. Then there is Otto Enoteca....the pizza and pasta were, frankly, 'ho-hum'....no seasoning, limited choices....in a pizza city like NY, this is not competing.... Ambiance: shall we 'NYU' ?, not a compliment! I usually avoid NYU area restaurants I did come away, however, awed over both the alcohol and dessert ! If I could, I would rate alcohol (including wine) and dessert four stars! superb!"
