Otto Enoteca PizzeriaGreat food...but noisy..Do not go here if you want to talk to anyone at a table for more than two people....ridiculously noisy...5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Value, amazing wineGreat Value, amazing wine list. Unique dishes with fresh, quality ingredients. Bold high quality flavors in their anitpasti, pastas and pizzas. Want to come back and methodically go through the menu.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem!My favorite italian joint. The ambiance is versatie, great for date night, groups AND families. The food is phenomenal and super reasonably priced, PLUS the gelato is amaaazing.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place! It's not New York pizza. It's Italian pizza. Paper thin. Saucy. Fresh (never canned) ingredients. No slices only large personal pies that you'll finish and want more.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMbetter than expected! We went to Otto Enoteca as part of a birthday weekend celebration. We chose the restaurant because the birthday person loves to watch Mario Batali on various cooking shows. The food was excellent, service was very good, and the atmosphere was good but very noisy.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is probably my 20th timeThis is probably my 20th time eating at Otto's. I've never been disappointed in either the food, wine or service. It is always fun and the food is delicious. It's why I keep going back. The wait staff is always gracious and accommodating. This was the first time I sat at the bar and the bartender couldn't have been more attentive. I love going there with my family and I love going there with my friends. It always delivers.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, great priceI'm not sure why Otto gets such a bad rap in some reviews. We had a reservation on a Friday night, were seated right away, and had attentive service throughout the evening. We shared the eggplant appetizer--a generous serving more than enough for two, and delicious. We then split a pizza and a pasta, and concluded with the gelato sampler, including the olive oil gelato. Yes, there were large groups near us and several tables with children, but we could still hear each other. Just because a restaurant is popular with tourists doesn't mean you shouldn't go. Besides, the prices are so reasonable you owe it to your wallet to give it a try.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AM100% awesomeliterally not 1 negative word to say about this place. fabulous place with great prices, great wine, and great food. may be my new favorite NYC restaurant!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful DennisAs a single lady of a certain age it is always nice to arrive at the bar at Otto and be greeted by Dennis, the friendly bartender who remembers my favorites and always has a smile. The food is delicious, but the gelato is superb.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Otto for lunch. PizzaLove Otto for lunch. Pizza is great and winter caprese salad is wicked.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAs two foodies but on a (prettyAs two foodies but on a (pretty tight) student budget in NYC for a long weekend, the quality of the food and wine that we got for what we paid was incredible. We both got starters, main course, shared a dessert and had a bottle of wine for $50 each including tax and a reasonable tip. The fresh pasta on the menu was delicious and the olive oil corbetta was so tart, fresh and flavoursome that we were "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" at every bite. I'd also recommend without a moment's hesitation the spinach and ricotta salad with truffle honey; I couldn't get it into my mouth fast enough. On a different note, we arrived pretty late, just after 10.45pm as we had been at a show, and the place was still hopping with people and we were not rushed out.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOtto Magnifico! Our Friday night dinner in NYC at Otto Enoteca Pizzeria, was a memorable evening for sure. From the helpful friendly staff, the incredible food and the vibrant ambience, our eating experience was a success. We chose the pizza "Funghi & Taleggio" which had the best stone oven thin crust I have ever eaten and the pasta Taccozette con Stracotto, came highly recommended via Tripadvisor, and did not dissapoint. The olive oil gelati was to die for. The wine list is extensive and caters to all price levels. Noise levels are high and are not for faint of heart. Reminded me of being in Italy, once again. Thanks Otto Enoteca Pizzeria, we will be back one day.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Place for DinnerWent here for dinner on a weeknight and I wasn't disappointed. Grabbed a reservation through Open Table, and was happy that I did because it definitely seemed like you needed one or would be waiting a while. That aside the food was good, we got a pizza and pasta to share and it did the job quite well. Had an awesome ice cream (made of the flavors we picked). Was satisfied and would recommend it, just under $100 for 2 so I recommend it for a nice dinner.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food, good valueMy friend and I both had pasta with a side of broccoii rabe to share. The portions were generous and the price very reasonable. And the food was delicious. I had a taste of my friend's sausage pasta, really al dente and you could tell that the sausage was home-made. I had a roast pork pasta which was also delicious, and a very generous portion (quartino) of wine. The only disappointment , which was good for my waistline, was that there was no dark chocolate dessert, so we skipped dessert. I would definitely go back for dinner. I understand that they have the same menu for dinner as for lunch, in which case the pasta at $10 each is a steal. Oh, one other thing: like many restaurants, they don't serve end pieces of bread. I like crust!!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a superb meal withWe had a superb meal with excellent wine recommended by our server. It's a trendy spot right off Washington Square, so it was packed with young families. (kids love pizza!) But we had reservations and were seated almost immediately. My only negative was the noise level.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPolite, enthusiastic service.Polite, enthusiastic service. Food is always good here and noise level is acceptable.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is delicious and consistentFood is delicious and consistent every time. The service is always super helpful and very friendly. Solid restaurant to go with a group of friends! Always on my list to return!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMawesome food. great placeawesome food. great place to take your kids for lunch and still feel like a grown-up4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for parties of 4 or 6Good for parties of 4 or 6 folks. I suggest going early because the place tend to get packed on Saturdays.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPolitely RushedFood is always fresh and simply delicious! Great for a big group and sharing. Went on a Friday night and the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was that things felt rushed at times, but in a politely-rushed way, if that makes sense. I hate nothing more then eating course after course right after each other with no time to just relax and talk in between or when the minute you put your fork down someone is standing by to grab your plate. Our group wanted dessert but wanted a "breather" so we ordered a bottle of wine between dinner and dessert to slow things down a bit. Other then that the staff was very nice and accommodating.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI was part of a group of graduateI was part of a group of graduate students that took a visiting scholar here for lunch. The pasta dishes were delicious and so were the pizzas. Definitely recommend trying the olive oil gelato.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLively, fun "pizza parlour" PLUSOtto is fun - we lucked out and got seats at the bar - one of the bar staff was a little arrogant and obviously wasn't having a good night however overall I thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine and ambience - noisy but fun.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMbe patient. it's worth the wait. This was our second visit. We made Open Table reservations for 8:30 and we still waited about an hour on a Tuesday evening. We didn't have anywhere to be after dinner so although mildly annoying it didn't ruin our evening. The service was excellent. The food was very good. We opted for the 2 meats, 3 cheeses and 2 vegetable options. Between the 2 of us we felt satiated but not overly stuffed and were able to get dessert. Gelati was excellent (chocolate, Caramel and coffee)...hazelnut was tempting but we were happy with these 3. Our waitress was very helpful with the wine list. It is very loud but manageable. Overall we'd recommend a visit. Expect to wait so be patient.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMJust ehThe restaurant had great decor and a very upbeat and energetic feel. My food, however, was less than stellar. As a native to New Haven, CT with tons of great choices for italian food, I was not impressed. My gnocchi was rather bland and the red sauce tasted like Hunt's tomato paste. My husband's meal was much better than my own. He chose the ravioli with sweet peas. If you do choose to dine at Otto, the spinach salad with a honey/truffle dressing was delicious. Although our reservations were for 7:15, we were not seated until 8:00.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal!Visiting NYC from Boston and had dinner with my family there on a Saturday night. Every item we ate was excellent, from the antipasti through the main courses to the desert. Great service as well. I wish that they would open a sister restaurant at home!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Reliable and DELICIOUS!Otto never disappoints and this recent visit was no exception! Everything is done perfectly there from the service to the food! Typically, there is a bit of a wait even with a reservation, but I don't usually mind since the wine bar is so nice and their wine menu is part of the experience there. However, this time I went on the earlier side (7p) and was seated immediately. Our waiter was prompt, friendly and very helpful. The food, as always, stole the show. Pizza (try the cacio pepe pizza), pasta and a cheese sampling is the perfect combo, topped off by AMAZING gelato in a unique selection of flavors (be sure to try the olive oil gelato as crazy as it sounds and the caramel). I will be back, as always!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNY for businessThe food was delicious. The pork shoulder pasta was out of this world!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here on the advice ofWent here on the advice of a friend. Great food, great ambiance and obviously a popular spot. Would recommend making a reservation. When we arrived the wait was 45 mins+ but we were seated right at our reservation time. Would definitely go back if I am ever in New York again.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Otto! Every bite wasI love Otto! Every bite was delicious and the black and white dessert was amazing I could have had that as a meal itself! I will definitely be back, this was my second time and both times were delicious! The only thing I would change is I wish that there was more variety for vegetable pizzas. The Quattro stagioni was good although it would have been nice if all of the vegetables were mixed together and not on separate quarters so that I could taste them all and not fight off my friend for it lol.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBe sure to save room for theBe sure to save room for the olive oil gelatto. Words cannot express...4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOtto is always fabulous.Otto is always fabulous. Cheese with truffle honey, wine, cardamom orange gelato - what more could you ask for?4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food. Great service,Delicious food. Great service, just soooooo LOUD that you have to scream over the din to talk to your fellow diners. Had a very young vibe and on Friday night, lots of kids present which added to the crazy and unpleasant noise level. Not sure what they could do to fix this but the acoustics of the place could perhaps be tweaked.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat to bring a kid to. TheyGreat to bring a kid to. They can make as much noise as they want and eat good pizza too. At the same time, adults can enjoy great wine and food.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMServer was excellent, andServer was excellent, and responsive to our time constraints.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAn authentic Italian experienceAn authentic Italian experience with the highest quality imported provisions.
Magnifico!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat more could you want? What more could you want? Mario Batali, excellent pizza, an encyclopedic wine list and a reasonable bill. They even take reservations on opentable. The caponata is amazing and they have the best pepperoni pizza ever. No complaints here.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI rediscovered this placeI rediscovered this place after a long absence. I will not let it become a long time before returning. Great pizzas, great service and even while completely full, you can enjoy a conversation at the table.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoy the dinner, goodWe enjoy the dinner, good food and service. But you can't not sit at the table before all the group was complete !3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe brought our Daughters toWe brought our Daughters to Otto Enoteca Pizzeria to celebrate our youngest daughter's 19th birthday. We had an absolutely terrific experience at Otto. The service was outstanding and very knowledgable, and the food was delicious!
Bravo Mr. Batali!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our second time diningThis is our second time dining at Otto and we really enojoyed it. From the charcuterie to the dessert, everythin was delicious.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat great food! We have beenWhat great food! We have been to the other Batali restaurants and they never disappoint. We had the seafood tasting appetizer which was spectacular! Wine list superb!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding again!Otto doesn't fail to disappoint! This was our third visit and food has been outstanding every time, everything is delicious and so reasonably priced. I had the goat cheese angolotti which was amazing, my husband had the braised pork shoulder pasta and he enjoyed every bite. We were there on a Monday evening and it was quite busy although they were able to seat us immediately when we arrived early.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food, service and ambianceThe food, service and ambiance was perfect! I loved the location near Washington Square Park. We started out with three small Antipasti plates, including the Funghi Misti, Eggplant Caponatina, and Lentils "Toscana". They were all delicious, but the Eggplant Caponatina was my favorite. I had the TACCOZZETTE CON STRACOTTO with braised pork shoulder, tomato and basil. It was hands-down the best pasta I've ever had. I ate the entire thing and almost licked the plate! I live in California and wish we had an Otto's out here because I'm already craving the Taccozzette. The closest one to us is a 4-hour drive to Las Vegas. I hope Mario considers opening one in the LA area.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPizza not quite what i expectedGreat appetizers and dessert, Pizza was ok, nice thin crust, but with the owners' connection to Italy, I expected something more akin to to the fabulous pizzas that i've always enjoyed in Italy. For example, ham, 'cotto' should not be julienne matchsticks, should be thin slices laid out flat. Service was great. Love the wine list and the vibe, would return, but may order a bunch of appetizers and dessert next time.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for Business LunchOtto is a favorite of mine, but I recently brought clients and it was a hit. While it was noisy, it's a good price point with delicious food.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was a notch aboveThe food was a notch above the ordinary (by NY standards anyway) and given the very reasonable prices, it was a great experience!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFun place. Great wine list.Fun place. Great wine list. Lots of different things to try.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA winning choice! We chose Otto for dinner with a diverse group. The menu provided many options for both adventurous and limited tastes. The wine list is encyclopedic and offered the full gamut of Italian wines in all price points. Apps and salads were fresh, creative in their simplicity, and generously portioned. Pizzas and pastas were all uniquely designed and delicious. Not your typical red sauce joint! Everyone in the group left with a big smile on their face! Would definitely go back.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great place for casual,Always a great place for casual, but delicious food. Cannot beat Otto for the price and quality received; huge wine list for all price points. Olive oil gelato is a must for dessert!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMComing here annually duringComing here annually during Big East Tournament for over a decade. My buddy & I make this an event--it is lunch & dinner for the day prior to semi-finals at MSG. We explain to the staff what we wish to do, what we would like to try, & they always exceed our expectations with a joyous mix of olives, cheeses, meats, vegetables, pasta, piazza, and wine. Always finish with olive oil gelato and a liqueur, sometimes grappa. Just a great experience with a real neighborhood feel.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
