I definitely would recommend this restaurant, but this is a restaurant for a younger demographic due to the noise level. It's really too bad, because I am older and my recommendation would always include that unfortunate design error, when really, the focus should be on the marvelous food and excellent staff."

The steak Bavette with chimichurri sauce was so tender, delicious and cooked to perfection. We also had the lemongrass pork dish, came highly recommended by our server... which was out of this world. AMAZING!!! Dominick gave us such amazing recommendations. He always takes such great care of us and makes our dining experience exceptional! "

  • "We wanted to go to The Slanted Door but there were no reservations. They offered other restaurants affiliated with the slanted door, and the menu looked great at Out the Door! We were not disappointed for our 16th anniverary dinner. We had the prawns, asparagus, brown rice and a chocolate dessert. All were taste treats, and my husband thought it was a special meal. The service was excellent. Would recommend highly. "

What's happened to the chef? OTD has turned from a food lover's delight to plain, same old stuff you can get elsewhere, nothing special."

  • "My partner and I were very excited to come to OTD for date night dinner. But overall, we had a pretty negative experience. We didn't get our entrees until abut 55 minutes after being seated. Furthermore, this didn't seem to be an issue to any of the staff, including our waitress, who never apologized for the delay or even acknowledged it. The noise level was so loud it was it was distracting. My companion and I we were literally SHOUTING at each other, but I still had to ask "WHAT?" every time he said something. The food was...fine. Nothing special, didn't really feel worth the price. Due to the above issues, we passed on dessert and hit up the frozen yogurt place on Fillmore instead."

  • "The food at OTD continues to be fantastic. I love the flavors and freshness - yum. But acoustics certainly were not a consideration when they built this place, MUCH to the detriment of the enjoyment of their guests. This was my first trip to OTD for dinner in years, and now I know why (lunch is a bit less deafening). If anyone in your group is at all sensitive to noise or hard of hearing, I'd have to recommend a pass - would be unfortunate to miss the food, but it would be too unpleasant for them. This is not a place to have an enjoyable dinner where you can talk to your companions. Service remains spotty - very dependent upon your server. Ours was friendly and knowledgeable but a bit slow and inattentive. But oh the food!"

Prices are higher than your typical Vietnamese restaurant but you also get the ambience and better ingredients. The service was very nice and quality of food is good.
