Diner Reviews
  • "The waiter pretty much served us everything at once; starters and main courses. The seafood pancake tasted funny as the pancake mix seem wasn't fully cooked. We had to take it home and pan fried it. The waiter didn't even bother to give us the dipping sauce to take home with the pancake. Kind of disappointed by this visit!"

  • "I've been here before and thought the sushi was better before"

  • "I did not realize this restaurant would have a TV broadcasting the World Cup, and we ended up showing up for our dinner reservation right around the final 30 minutes or so of a game. It was very loud but our waitress and the manager were very nice and moved us to a table outside. My one downside was initially (while the place was packed with people watching the game) it took a while for us to get water - about 45 minutes. But after the game died down everything came quickly, the staff was very nice and helpful and the food was amazing. Once the game was over and the crowd dispersed I was able to see the restaurant and it was beautiful. Another downside was it took about 30 minutes once we were done eating to pay."

  • "I've mostly had the sushi which is good but not anything really special. They are a bit overpriced. I like the ambience and the waitstaff was friendly but sometimes hard to get their attention. The bathrooms need a bit of work as you have to go out to a pretty run down hallway that I don't think they own."

  • "Servers are not well trained. Overall poor service. Hostess is terrible. Don't go there if you are looking for "relaxing dinner"."

  • "The food is decent. I had higher expectations therefore was a bit disappointed when those expectations weren't meet. "

  • "Place is lively, food is delicious and very fresh, service is very good, prices are reasonable, large windows with nice view of Harvard Square."

  • "sushi was not appealing visually, but also very flavorless. majority of 'special rolls' had a base of california roll or shrimp tempura - I've never seen a sushi menu lack creativity the way this place did. weird scene overall. this place only remains in existence because they have a great location in harvard square, but I would never return for the food."

  • "We went because we had a Groupon, but would go back again. Apps were tasty and sushi was excellent ."

  • "What a terrific restaurant. The food selection offers so much more then sushis. Try their entrees, my favorite a grilled fish dish (I do not remember the name). Service was ideal, the right combination of care and discretion. LOVELY! A gem in Harvard."

  • "The food was good and sushi was fresh. However, it was a busy Saturday and our sushi and entees came put in spurts. Not what is preferred. Poor planning on the part if the restaurant. Low cost help soothe the pain."

  • "our sushi was fresh and service good. Soups were quite good. Sushi was a bit boring in taste, but certainly fresh."

  • "Service is good. Gluten restriction was accommodated for. Food came out quickly. Went for valentines day and obviously it was packed, but it didn't effect experience at all."

  • "We celebrated V Day here- food was excellent- service very good...but, I noticed all the other diners were given a long stem rose on their table-all couples given it was a romantic evening,,,,but my wife did not get one, I can only believe it was because we are two women. In my mind even more of a reason to give our table a rose. While it in no way took away from my lovely evening with my lovely partner, it did seem a bit "cold"."

  • "This was my second time dining at Osushi. My first experience was 4-star worthy, based on the quality of the sushi. This time, the sushi was good, but nothing spectacular. It didn't seem quite as fresh and flavorful as the first time around, but still a nice dinner. The service was fine, but again, nothing to rave about. The host was very friendly and accommodating, but the server was just average. Both times I've been to Osushi, on a Friday and Saturday night, the restaurant was barely half full. I would recommend this if you're in Harvard Square and are looking for good sushi, but I'd probably skip it next time and try somewhere I haven't been."

  • "Hip ambience. Fresh and creative food. Menu is not overwhelming."

  • "Nice decor, lively ambiance, and good sushi. Quiet at lunch and louder at dinner, but a chic place to meet one friend or a group of friends to share some sushi!"

  • "This is the third time I've eaten here in the past few months. Nothing has change from the first time: Fresh, delectable sushi prepared in imaginative rolls. Prompt, friendly service. Unpretentious. Industrial sized drinks! Highly recommended!!!"

  • "Friendly quick service. Great food. Appetizers that were actually appetizers and not meals in and of themselves (this is a good thing). A bit on the loud side, but not offensively so (and besides, it was a Friday night)."

  • "Docked a star for service because we had to wait 20minutes for our table despite a reservation. That aside our waitress was fantastic and brought out a complementary birthday mochi dessert for the birthday girl. Ambiance was vibrant but we could all hear each other perfectly. Decor is modern with dim lighting; this is great for dinner or just drinks at the bar. Sushi dishes (we had the TNT maki as well as sushi plate for 2) were delicious and fresh."

  • "The food was good, not great but definitely above average. It was adequate for the price. The location is really nice, the decor is modern but not overly so. Drinks were quite tasty. The noise level was a bit high but we were visiting during weekend rush hour so that might not be your average experience."

  • "I loved the variety of sake offered and the creativity of the sushi and sashimi offers. A great addition to the Harvard Square food scene."

  • "Nice spot in Harvard square for sushi and korean style cuisine such as kalbi, bibimbap and spicy pork. The restaurant setting is chic and modern, the atmosphere great for an evening out with friends (not too noisy) The food itself (we've had sushi, and other korean items on the menu) is decent but a bit overpriced compared to say, Toraya in Arlington. The cocktail with cucumber is very nice, not too sweet and refreshing. Overall, a nice place to go to in Harvard square, but nothing to rave about."

  • "Trying a new (to me) sushi restaurants is usually a hit-or-miss experience. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by dinner at Osushi. We were promptly seated, the service was good - it was especially notable that empty dishes were removed very promptly. The appetizers (Akashi-Yaki, Tuna Tartare) and rolls (Hamachi Jade, Salmon) were tasty as well. Overall a very good experience. Would I dine there again? Definitely yes."

  • "There are so many great places to eat in Harvard Sq, and so many awesome sushi places in the Boston area. Do yourself a favor and don't go here. The food ranged from meh to completely horrible, but the AWFUL service is what really does this place in. I don't think I've ever experienced such awful service. I was rushing my husband out because I just couldn't wait to leave. Will never, ever return."

  • "Great location, tasty, lots of young people. Simple ambiance."
    Dined on 8/8/2013
  • "I will probably return here often if they continue to offer the good food, value and service I have experienced during three visits so far. On this visit we felt kind of rushed, since the appetizers, entrees and sushi all arrived at the same time, even though we had asked for the appetizers first, and then the entrees and sushi. That is easy enough to manage in the future by ordering the appetizers before placing the entree order. Also, the prices for the cold sake are a little steep, starting at around $32 for a 300ml bottle, and the sakes that they bill as being on the drier side are still a little sweet for my taste."

  • "I had a voucher to eat here for half price. If I hadn't, we would have left. The service was horrible; we went to the bar and got our own drinks at one point and it wasn't that busy. Multiple tables got up and left after sitting for 10 minutes without even getting a menu. The dishes, while nicely plated, were sub par. The ceviche wasn't served with anything to put it on, so was very awkward. The sauce used is just mayonnaise, sweetened. The rolls weren't anything so great, and they were out of the better sashimi choices."

  • "We were using a Living Social coupon offer, but even if we had paid full price for our meal, the value was incredible. Large portions, and very creative and tasty. Not sure why they call some of their dishes "crunchy", as they really weren't but that is more an observation, as the food was awesome. We will surely be back."

  • "The best sushis, the best ambiance, the best service. I love Osushi. Sushi restaurant....so many of them around but Osushi Harvard brings the concept at such a higher level. The quality of the ingredients and the beautiful presentation are top notch. Bravo!"

  • "This was a nice break from busy Harvard Square. Food was very good, almost too many sushi offerings to choose from. Really liked the ambiance and open feel. We had a hard time finding the restaurant at first, despite its central location. Service was good and prices reasonable."

  • "I really enjoyed OSUSHI a lot. Really fresh food and a great menu to choose from. Great service too. Definitely impressed. This kind of restaurant has been missing from Harvard Square and I'm excited that it's here now."

  • "Osushi is a gem. The food is exquisite. The Hamacho Carpaccio, the clam in Sake Borth and the sushis were amazing. The best Japanese food in Massachusetts. Service was very friendly."

  • "The food was good but the portions were very small. The waitress made some very good recommendations for us. I left my American Express card at the restaurant and was disappointed when I called that they hadn't found it. I called the next morning and they rudely asked which table I was sitting at. I had to cancel the card."

  • "It was our first time at Osushi and we just thought it was outstanding! The food was excellent, the ambiance great, the service friendly. We will go back for sure...many times!"
    Dined on 3/9/2013
  • "The food was great but over priced and the menu limited. I was disturbed by the branches hung by nooses as I entered the restaurant. They also need to solve the problem of the entire restaurant getting a cold draft each time the door opens. For my money and comfort I will visit another sushi location."
    Dined on 2/21/2013
  • "Food wasn't bad, but it was a little on the pricey side. I have definitely seen many better quality yet less pricey sushi menus."
