The waiter tried to sell certain items on the menu. The overall experience was not pleasant at all. Especially for the prices. I have been there twice and that's enough."

  • "The food and service are always great at Ostra, but when the weather is nice and you can sit outside by the Riverwalk the experience is nearly perfect. I love that the cocktail and dinner menu changes as well as the oysters available when they're in season. This is a great place to eat and valet your car if you are going to a show at The Majestic. No need to pay to park when your valet ticket gets validated by the restaurant (but I always tip the valet)."

  • "Unable to get a table when we walked up to the restaurant as it was fully booked for the day (even half of the restaurant was empty). However, I was able to use Opentable to reserve a table at about the same time and then walked up there and get seated. I would highly recommend to reserve the table with OT if you want to go there."

  • "We had a terrific time at Ostra. While the entire experience stands out, the food was by far the biggest hit. We ordered the special for the evening, which was tuna. Divine. We put s pecial order in for wilted spinach, and they took care of us with delicious greens. Service was superb. And we were able to dine outdoors along the Riverwalk which made for a very romantic evening."

  • "We ate at Ostra on a Friday evening. The food was delicious and well presented, but at the prices, we expected everything to be a little unique. The crab cake was delicious, but pricey for a single cake. The spinach salad was good, but simple and small for the price. We both had the salmon with sweet potato hash. The salmon was properly cooked and was moist. The flavor of the hash was delicious with the pancetta, but became a little monotonous. We felt that the prices were about 20-30% too high for what we received, even considering that it is a hotel restaurant on the Riverwalk. The wines by the glass were very limited. Service was excellent. We did return for the buffet brunch on Sunday and had a great meal at a very reasonable price."

  • "They had a valentines day menu.. While good, 2 courses should not come out to $60 each. And the 3rd course is a shared plate of chocolates.. The wine pairing for this special menu equated to 32.. Each. 3 glasses. We skipped the wine. Now I get that most restaurants put out a valentines day menu, while good, was not worth $60 a piece."

  • "Wonderful experience. Plenty of time between courses to "dine" but not too much time to be "slow". Veal/crab special outstanding. Unfortunately bad weather prevented us from enjoying the patio seating on the. Riverwalk. Great service. We will be back!"

  • "We've been going to Ostra for a few years and never had a bad experience. The food is very good but for us the service is always the high light! Each occasion starts with Richard greeting us at the door and the personal attention from all the staff just continues all during our stay. On our latest visit I had the daily black board special, a nice filet of flounder with lump crab, my wife had a seabass filet. Both were excellent and, of course, the personal attention of Carla and George made the meal that much more enjoyable."

  • "The food was on point. I had the red fish (Palacios, TX), other guest had the prime rib, short ribs, and shrimp scampi. All were very good dishes. The only flaw was that the shrimp in the scampi were almost small enough to be salad shrimp, but flavor and presentation were both great. We started with gulf coast, east coast, and Canadian (east coast) oysters and they were thoroughly enjoyable. The wine list was great and had plenty of standard choices with some nice finds here and there. Good price point for wine novice and wine experts alike. Overall it was a nice meal and dining experience. Would recommend to friends."

  • "I usually love this restaurant, especially for the fresh fish and healthy preparations after looking at the menu online, I took a coworker here, for dinner, and what a mistake. The restaurant was empty (not a good sign on the Riverwalk), and the service was also empty. The food was swimming in sauces and the whole, grilled fish that I wanted is no longer on the menu. My fish was over done, and my coworker's dish was under seasoned. I'm not sure what has happened to the place, but I will not be returning."

We really enjoyed breakfast in particular because the buffet was good and the riverwalk was so peaceful. Definitely sit outside if there's a table available."

Our waiter takes very good care of us and even split the plate for us when two people from the party wants to split a dish. Drinks refilled promptly, each time we need assistance the waiter comes over right away and help wirh the request. An excellent dining place!"
