OsteriaWe NEVER rave about food.We NEVER rave about food. Osteria was amazing!! Our salad with an English pea dressing, followed by the leg of lamb and rabbit ragu were the best main courses that we have had in ages. Then cannolis with salted caramel ice cream. OMG.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food as usual!not my first, and not my last time at Osteria. As usual, food was excellent, service too!
their pasta is probably the best quality pasta I've ever had and all 4 dishes we had were just excellent.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMdinner menuWhile I absolutely enjoyed my entree and it was exceptionally good; I feel I am not drawn to go back as the menu offers very limited choice. I know that I can always have a good pizza however, I wish there were more main entree choices.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful serviceThe food was better than we could have imagined but the service was also. Sarah and fellow servers were sincerely friendly and very patient with all our questions. She gave excellent recommendations. We will return.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulMy boyfriend and I have always wanted to come here. We went for our four-year anniversary and had one of the best meals of our lives. The service started off slow and our server said more than once how busy she is but she made excellent recommendations and kept a very close eye on us. Delicious. We can't wait to go back.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMServer gave excellent recommendatioServer gave excellent recommendations- Pizza appetizers were fantastic, great antipasto, rabbit was good but a little too boney. I'd highly recommend this restaurant. Service was impeccable.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not greatWe've been meaning to go here for awhile and finally made it. Perhaps expecting too much, but was a little underwhelmed overall. Everything seemed a bit off: the service, was meh, though the sommelier was excellent, dishes had some weaknesses (fava beans on everything it seemed like!), though again, in general, very good, and the noise level in the atrium area is awful. It's very good, but just did not reach the level of great. Like Amis (fabulous), and Vetri (world-class), way more!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat timeThis was our first time at this restaurant. Celebrating our anniversary. Great server who helped us make some decisions. Looking forward to the new location in Moorestown.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!We had the best time at your restaurant last night. I just wanted to thank you for really showing off our BEST side here in Philadelphia to our out-of-town guest. From the lovely hostess, Kelly our server to the fabulous food, wine and ambiance...he was smitten. Personally I loved the Liz Kinder vase and the Schott glasses. The one thing that blew my mind was the "seasoning" of the wine glasses. Maybe I'm not sophisticated enough to appreciate it, but to me it was a used glass. A little too la-di-da for my taste. But, of course, the wine was excellent. Thank you again for a wonderful evening. We'll be back as soon as we can!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant!Osteria was a treat from start to finish. The salumi platter and the roasted vegetables were both excellent appetizers. I found an excellent Italian Rose to go with our dinners. Sea Bass, mackerel and suckling pig were all delicious. Our server was very knowledgable and she provided excellent and prompt service. I veryk much hope to go back to Osteria.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA repeat visit to Osteria.A repeat visit to Osteria. Again a great night. Food was delicious, portions just right - not skimpy not overwhelming. Service was quite good. Noticed pottery by local artist Liz Kinder on all the tables, a really nice touch.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat every timeThis is our fourth time to Osteria and we were definitely not disappointed. We always split a pizza as an appetizer, share a pasta as a first plate, and get one of their delicious specials, this time it was porchetta, prepared wonderfully tender and subtly spiced. The homemade pasta with rabbit bolognese and black truffle was outstanding. It was a perfect way for us to celebrate our anniversary and we will definitely be back!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic meal and serviceOur waiter, Zeke, was excellent. He explained the menu choices and specials in detail and helped us to decide what to order. We had a roasted vegetable and arugula salad appetizer that was delicious. Our entrees were lamb and ricotta and mozzarella tortellini in a tomato broth. Both were amazing! We shared cannoli for dessert.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a try and a returnFood was fresh and tasty. Our server was very helpful and patient when explaining the menu.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIssue with wine orderThe food was delectable and the service impeccable; however, I do have 1 complaint. I ordered a glass of "house merlot". Our waiter informed me that there was no "house merlot" but instead recommended another merlot which I said would be fine. Little did I know that the glass of wine he recommended cost me $21.00/glass. I was unaware of this until the bill arrived and of course was charged $42.00 for my wine. Had I known this, I would have never ordered neither the first nor the second glass. I just assumed that if I was ordering the "house wine" it implied I wanted an inexpensive one and feel I should have been offered a wine comparable in price. This was most embarrasing to me splitting the bill with my 2 other friends. TY6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat date night spotMy fiancé and I went here for a date night dinner before seeing a movie the other night. I always have liked food and the wait staff was very attentive and responsive. My only issue is the pretension some of the staff seem to have there. It is a shame a few of the staff's attitudes mar what was otherwise a great experience.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you cannot get into Vetri,If you cannot get into Vetri, it's sister, Osteria is your next bet.
The food is outstanding, the service is perfection, the wine list is awesome, the only downside is the noise.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMplease move closer to my homea pizza standard thats hard to attain even in italy. my latest try was the piselli with guanciale and san marzano tomatoes with a shoot me to the stars thin chewy crust. And ohhh the porchetta!!!! every visit to philly this place never fails.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food & nice atmosphere! The food was terrific! We shared an grilled vegetable plate appetizer. It was awesome! I had fettuccini with clams as a main course. The portion was very small, however it was the best pasta with clams that I've ever had!! Our two year old daughter joined us. The hostess gave her crayons and some things to color on. The restaurant was a little noisy, which was great for our daughter, because as she became restless and chattered away, no one could hear her! The atmosphere feels urban. The building has very high ceilings and a converted loft feeling. The room that we sat in was glasses in and over looked an old church. Definately an interesting space and pleasure to dine in.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPizza or multi-course mealAlways busy, with an extensive menu, ranging from the familiar to especially for foodies. The bread basket is a treat, and the pizzas are even better than you would guess from the descriptions. Crusts in particular, and the gentle heating of ingredients like arugula, prosciutto and spring onions are highlights. A fine selection of wines, cheeses, and beers, but the tab can add up with multiple courses.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingCame here for my 24th birthday and the food was amazing. Their pizza with the egg on top was amazing! So was everything else we got: salamis, salads, steak, pasta, and their amazing homemade gelato!! Salty butter!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience, first timeGreat experience, first time going there. Food and service top notch!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTurn the TablesWe only wished that both of us could have had more of a view of the restaurant while dining. Having the tables turned 45 degrees would have made that possible although fewer tables would be squeezed in that way.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMa special placewe are New Yorkers who come to philadelphia about 4 times a year. We consider dinner at Osteria or Amis a necessity as part of our trip. The dining experience is so special for us and never fails to please.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant SurpriseWhile Osteria had been recommended to us, we were pleasently surprised at our experience. From appetizers to deserts the food was clean and well prepared. The seasonal beet and goat cheese pasta was knocked out of the park, while everything else was very good, although not earth shattering. We had a salad, two different fish dishes and a flan. Next time, I think we'll try the pizzas. The flan took a long time to come out, and then our server told us the first one deflated coming out of the oven, so they had to make another one (which was on the house). The space had a very comfortable feel - you could go here on a romantic date, with good friends, or with a family and be equally at home. We appreciate the local and seasonal ingredients.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDelish!Had a great meal with great service! Definitely will be back5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSomething for every oneThe menu was so varied that it met the needs of my vegetarian, and lactose intolerant family members as well as the foodies. Don't forget to leave a donation for the family's foundation.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAvoid the lambEverything was excellent except the lamb. Choose the pork5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMfood was excellent. as thoughfood was excellent. as though we were part of a michae pollan book . great suggestions from waiter. too noisy on a tuesday nighy.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreatWe really enjoyed the meal. We had a wide variety of choices and everyone loved their dinner5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways fabulousTransporting Italian creative menu - delightful that it changes frequently and incorporates timely seasonal product. Artichokes Sunday eve (051913) even better than ever!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and fun! We'd last been to Osteria two years ago to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful dining experience. We were almost hesitant to go back for fear that we would be disappointed, that is, that the bar had been set too high!. Much to our amazement and delight, this time was even better!!! But for being seated right next to the wait station in the front of the restaurant, we had the BEST food, wine and service a couple could ask for. We left feeling not too full, yet well fed, and ready to do some dancing! Thanks for setting the tone for what turned out to be one of the best nights we've ever had with each other. We'll be back soon, especially knowing tha the Osteria folks will always, somehow, outdo themselves!!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently Very GoodIt's a pleasure to know that I can confidently expect great food with many seasonal flavors, The fig appetizer was exceptional. The bar deserves kudos for getting it so right.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! In Philly to visit friends, we met there (parking was easy) and intended to have full dinners but ended up sampling the menu. The terrific bartender had given me an overview and the server was knowledgeable as well. The food was delicious. The wine was perfect. It is evident the staff are loyal and enjoy what they do. I will definitely return!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMJust Do It. Book the Table. One of the finest dining experiences you will have in Philadelphia, or anywhere. Fabulous service, fresh ingredients, creative presentation, and a beautiful, rush-free environment.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything great! The food was all wonderful and the service, except for the fact that we weren't asked if we wanted drinks and had to ask to order them, more than once, was very good. The basil panna cotta was just about the best dessert I've ever had - perfect for me as I adore basil! The lamb leg was great and the pizza is amazing. My husband loved the octopus. We'll be back!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother A++This may have been our finest dinner at Osteria. The chef sent over an order of snails with chickpea polenta, simply amazing! The pork was phenomenal as usual and the service was top notch. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Osteria remains our top dining out spot.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommended.I don't think I need to say anymore. Others have already reviewed and raved. I concur.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAppetizers and PizzaWe have have always been impressed by the quality of the food and the overall pleasure of the experience. This time we went for appetizers and pizza--which seemed to be what most of our neighbors were doing as well. The porchetta tonnato was amazing--and so different from anything that I could do. The special of the day fried Ipswich clams were notable for two things. First, there were exactly three fried clams--hard for a long time Cape Cod devotee to comprehend--but those three clams were the best I have ever had. Go for the appetizers. We shared a pulpo pizza. The crust was delicious, as was the the octopus, but I want more cheese on my pizza. Osteria has excellent food, good service and is definitely fun.--but not inexpensive.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good experienceThe food was imaginative and very well prepared. The service was excellent and friendly and professional. Because of the noise level, conversation within our group was difficult.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Food and ServiceWe are big fans of Mark Vetri's restaurants, and we love Osteria. There were four of us; we started with the Parma Pizza, and it was perfect; the crust was thin and crisp, and the prosciutto was delicious. We also had the grilled octopus appetizer, which was very good as well. We then shared a very tasty dandelion salad. Our entrees were outstanding--we had two different pastas, a pork dish, and a veal dish, and all were perfectly prepared. For dessert we shared the pistachio and the blueberry gelato, which were smooth, creamy, and delicious. We all thought that this was a five star meal, and we'll be returning soon to Osteria.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways the right choiceOsteria is our top choice for dinner with any out of town guests. Terrific food, relaxed yet energetic atmosphere. Local celebs in sight (we sat next to the Mayor). Great service. The vegetable antipasti tray deserved a Beard award of its own!!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!Fiancee and I decided that for our last anniversary before we got married, we'd go somewhere special for dinner. Hence, Osteria. This place isn't cheap, but you absolutely get what you pay for in terms of quality. The pizza is great - we got the one with arugula and prosciutto, which is paper thin and everything you wish prosciutto would be. Drinks are delicious, pasta is this incredible texture that really, should not be possible for it. Accept the fact that your wallet is gonna hurt after, and go here. You won't regret it.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOsteria is the best restaurantOsteria is the best restaurant in Philadelphia. It is our absolute favorite! They do it right from the time you arrive until you leave. The warmth, food, staff, ambience, Osteria has it all. Mark Vetri et al are the best of Philly!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! The pasta is unbelievable, they have amazing wines by the glass, and the setting is really fun. HIGHLY RECOMMEND5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMJust kept getting better. Our table was in a glassed-in room that was like being outside. The menu had a lot of variety and our waiter was good at answering questions about unfamiliar ingredients. My friend and I tried 2 different dishes and liked what we ordered and each other's choice. We both enjoyed our meal from start to finish.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect lunchI made the reservation for a party of six for a business lunch. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. From the Hostess to the waiter, everyone was most accommodating.
The food was delicious from appetizer to coffee. We'll definitely be back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat once againI took three friends here that hadn't been here before. They thought that the atmosphere was very inviting and nice and the restaurant had a great feel. We ordered the pulpo pizza to share and that was very good. For dinner, most ordered the social of the day, a hand made linguini with a very simple but savory sauce. I ordered the chicken liver rigatoni. Once again, this was excellent.
Dinner was so good, we all ordered desserts and coffee. The only downside this time was the service. Out waitress disappeared at times and there was a gap in service. Every other time I've been there, never a flaw in service. Oh we'll she may have been busy that night, although the restaurant was not full (we ate after 7pm)
Definitely will be back!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEasily some of the best foodEasily some of the best food on the East Coast and in the world. Many places have tried to duplicate Osteria's pizza, but no one can come close. The food is memorable!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the food and the serviceEnjoyed the food and the service was very good as well. Unlike some other patrons we thought the noise level was reasonable. We look forward to returning.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
