A word from Osteria Stellina
Located in the picturesque West Marin town of Point Reyes Station, Osteria Stellina offers a delicious, intimate, farm-to-table dining experience. Known for our local and seasonal cuisine, we strive to showcase the bounty of West Marin on every plate. Our ingredients are sourced from the surrounding regions many farmers, ranchers, and fisherman; each dish reads like a sophisticated blue plate special, comprised of what's close and plentiful on a given day. The result is a creative, clean, farm fresh menu we like to call "Point Reyes Italian". Osteria Stellina's daily lunch and dinner menus include house made pastas and bread, organic salads and soups, pizzas, sustainable meats and seafood, an array of satisfying desserts, and a carefully edited and affordable wine list featuring local vineyards and Italian favorites. Local beer is on tap and additional beers are available by the bottle. The restaurant's gracious dining room is ideal for diners of all ages and any occasion.

  • Molli, our server, was excellent.

Molli, our server, was excellent. Very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We come to Point Reyes every year for my birthday, and we always have dinner here. Lovely and unpretentious place. My only feedback is regarding the cheese course: while quite delicious, the cheeses were served cold, not at room temperature, as is traditional for a cheese course. I was surprised that the staff does not allow time for the cheese to warm up before serving. This was the second time we ordered the cheese course, and both times it was cold. Had it only happened once, I might have thought it was an oversight; but twice in a row...hmm, makes me wonder.

  • The Osteria Stellina was enticing
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 7/26/2011
The Osteria Stellina was enticing because of it's advertised reliance on locally grown and raised components. Everything that we had for our very pleasant lunch reflected that promised attention. The little gems salad and the seafood stew were especially noteworthy in that regard. The service was informative and efficient and the locale and dining room contributed to a relaxed experience. I will definitely be back.

Went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and was WOW'd by the food; fresh, tasty and presented with care. The service was nice, helpful and not invasive. The setting hasn't changed much from the prior restaurant which was a 'Mexican/Cowboy Diner'. But it's comfortable and did I say that the food is incredible??

    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 7/5/2011
The marrow bones on the appetizer menu were excellent. I had the scallops for my entree & was dissappointed. The Pork Osso Boca with polenta was a huge portion. The polenta was creamy & the highlight of the plate. The chard was the best we've had. The house salad with large enough for us to share, it was fresh with a wonderful dressing that was light, the acsent of grated fresh cheese made it a stand out. All around we enjoyed every bite. We'd go back.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 7/4/2011
The first time I went to this restaurant on Christmas Eve, the food was sensational and we all had a wonderful time. This time, July 4th eve, everything was a little too salty. The soup, the seafood stew, the pizza. All of it had one too many sprinkles of sea salt. The waitress was a little abrupt like she really didn't care.

Some of the best food we've ever had anywhere and worth the price. (we've become tired of paying top dollar for food we could've cooked at home.) The service especially was great - hip and extremely knowledgeable without being pretentious or overbearing. Wonderful energy in the place. Lot's of windows, bright, welcoming, and comfortable. The slow cooked lamb and polenta over sauteed kale was exceptional. Look for the locals special which was also a great option!

Great service and fabulous, well conceived food. A little loud and very busy (which isn't really relaxing). However, it was wonderful and we certainly will go back. Often. Delicious oysters, starter salads, halibut with roasted cauliflower & chard. Osso buco was perfect. Wonderful desserts. It's refreshing to see some different desserts offered.

As a resident of West Marin, I am elated with Osteria Stellina. It is unique as it offers high end, creative and local ingredients. It is the only West Marin reatuarant that offers a modern approach to dining. The emphasis on showcasing the excellent qualities of simple ingredients is their forte. I would like to see a bit more attention to detail as the plate presentation are a bit boring. It gets very loud when the place is full, so hearing your fellow diners is difficult.

    Disappointed
    Dined on 5/29/2011
While the oyster pizza and grilled cheese & veal sandwiches were scrumptious, they were overshadowed by the inattentive, bordering on rude service. There was, however, a waitress (who wasn't our wait staff) who was very nice and helpful - the one service highlight. Once the waiter took our order, he never came back to see how we were doing, check on us and the food took about a half hour to get to our table (late lunch at 1:30 or 2). My meal came about 10 minutes after my family's. At the end, the waiter did come back to ask us if we wanted dessert. Overall, very disappointing and would not recommend.

Maybe we picked the wrong items, but the fava leaf salad although innovative turns out to have tough leaves, the blue cheese seasoning was great. The bone marrow was an adventurous choice which I won't repeat. The pasta with clams was a little too al dente for my taste and the "fat" spaghetti is a bit overwhelming, I prefer thinner one. The beef was served with a greasy medley of vegetables and the cut although very generous was tough. The homemade ice cream dessert was delicious.

Pleasant, if not entirely knowledgeable service (no refill on coffee, either, though that might be how they do it at Stellina -- $2.50 for one small cup). The shrimp appetizer was delicious, the brussell sprouts & walnuts good, and the cheese pizza not special. The only really exceptional element of dinner was the chocolate cookie/mint chocolate chip ice cream -- the cookie was soft and fresh and a bit fudgy, the ice cream incredibly minty. I would definitely return and order something more interesting than the cheese pizza (I was limited by my 7-year-old daughter's preferences).

    ClayKallam
    Dined on 4/23/2011
We were a little disappointed in Stellina, despite its reputation, some of which, perhaps, is based on the act that high-end restaurants are not that plentiful in the area. The tables are very crowded together, so we ended up talking to our neighbors, which is pretty much unavoidable, but not what you are looking for on a special night out. The noise level is high and the decor not especially notable. The salads were average, and though the clams were fresh and good, the pasta was undercooked and the serving skimpy. The mutton was hearty but too salty. Great mashed cauliflower and good homemade ice cream. Not special enough to merit the prices.
