Osteria StellinaWe were early, 5:30 p.m. ItWe were early, 5:30 p.m. It wasn't too full so the noise level was fairly low. The service was excellent, the food was very good. We'd definitely go back.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNicest in townWe rode the Pt Reyes trails on horseback and were in town for the whole weekend. This was recommended and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, except the group of six, two of which felt the whole restaurant needed to hear what they had to say. The food was good and the cheese plate, one of the best I have had in years. Good service and a really friendly and knowlegable waiter.
We would clearly come back again, just hope the loudmouths aren't there.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI've given the service 4 starsI've given the service 4 stars because I have a thing against waiters removing dishes before everyone is finished with their meals.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely meal in lovely placeAte dinner here on the first night of our three day stay in Point Reyes/West Marin. Service was terrific. I enjoyed my strip steak with potatoes and carrots, but my husband should have been more careful about his choice of the chicken; his meal came with polenta and braised greens, which he doesn't especially like, so I ended up swapping my potatoes for his polenta (which I love, and this was excellent). My salad was very nice but the shrimp salad my husband ordered was just ordinary per his judgment. (Warning - he's not much of a foodie.) The desert, however - panna cotta with strawberries - was terrific and enjoyed by both of us.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA Culinary Treasure!Every visit reminds me to eat here more often. A creative menu, with local ingredients, is a true culinary treasure. I don't think I've eaten the same thing yet, and every time I walk away so impressed.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent anniversary mealMy husband and I spent the weekend in Point Reyes for a non-milestone anniversary, and celebrated the occasion at Stellina. Food was delicious, place was very pleasant, friendly, relaxed. The goat stew was really tender (melt in your mouth) and the fresh wild salmon was perfectly prepared. Desserts were also tasty (and the restaurant threw in mine for free for our anniversary). We ate late (8:30) and it was pretty "energetic" until 9-ish, when it started to calm down and the noise lightened up. It wasn't a fancy, formal, romantic place, but it was really good food in relaxed environs perfect for a weekend mostly spent hiking and enjoying nature.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful restaurant in beautifulWonderful restaurant in beautiful Pt. Reyes - not to be missed!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful food! tables werewonderful food! tables were a little close together.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dinner in Pt. ReyesOsteria Stellina is a great restaurant not to be missed if you are in the Pt. Reyes area. Everything on the menu is delicious--you may want several first courses for dinner simply to be able to taste more. Dessert is great!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFine dinning in Pt Reyes StationWe went on a busy Friday evening, had submitted a reservation online, and were seated immediately. The oysters, blue-cheese salad, and salmon dishes were both fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed the desserts, which included sassafras ice cream that tasted like minty root beer, paired with a snicker-doodle cookie.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMwhat a gem! no wonder it'swhat a gem! no wonder it's once again in the SF Chronicle's top 100!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMService was outstanding.Service was outstanding. They accommodated our group growing from 4 to 6 when we bumped into friends and asked them to join us. Water (lots of it), ice, butter for those wanted it, friendliness, efficiency . . . the wait staff offered it all. The asparagus-potato puree soup was so good we all wished we had ordered bowls instead of cups. The grilled cheese sandwiches were knockouts, and the one who had goat with hers would order it again. The spiced stew was tasty and the accompanying polenta marvelous, but the sauce was a bit too salty. The bread is baked locally and so good that even I, not known to eat bread, didn't pass it up. Only disappointment - the best olive oil I ever had was not locally sourced but from Italy.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place! It is niceLove this place! It is nice to have a nicer option for West Marin.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter a long trek at PointAfter a long trek at Point Reyes, this Western Marin location was all we could ask for. Food was delicious, server was knowledgeable and recommended the goat signature dish, ambiance was active but not overly rowdy. We started with the burrata and the lentil soup and were happy with a pea sprout/beet/cheese appetizer; then the waiter suggested the pasta of the day (pancetta and peas over orchiette, very al dente, and delicious) as well as the braised goat. We had beers and just enjoyed the place. It was low key, but high end. A perfect ending to a glorious day. Sadly, we were too full for dessert but everyone around us looked happy as the final stage of the meal appeared. /Staff was great; sat us immediately though we were late.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful dining moment in Pt ReyesI had read about Osteria Stellina for years, so on this trip to Pt Reyes, we made a point to make a reservation...we were in the San Francisco area for about 10 days...........and this was our favorite dining experience! Just so nice, waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, atmosphere simple yet tasteful, food was absolutely wonderful! Everything we ordered couldn't have been better...We were given attention, yet not overdone....wish we could have tried more selections...so beautifully presented..and so delicious...we will return!!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, excellentDelicious food, excellent ingredients, thoughtful service. Restaurant was
busy and a little loud. Main course was delicious though could have been
presented a bit better on the plate .Dessert was innovative and refreshing-
I am always impressed when pastry chefs come up with
Interesting combinations. Nice four our romantic getaway evening.
We will most certainly return.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, it was superb. As always, it was superb. Lucky we are to have such a gem only 1+ hours'
drive away. We do need a Designated Driver commitment.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, very nice. NothingOverall, very nice. Nothing amazing except the desert--a madeline cake with some kind of cream--amazing cake and great housemade vanilla ice cream on the side.
We had fresh gulf shrimp cocktail, the barley soup was very good, hearty flavor and herbaceous; then a fava leaf salad: very nice. We had the oyster/leak pizza. The oysters and leak topping were very good but the crush was a disappointment. Too much olive oil we speculated so a little mushy and lacked the crunch for a thin crust affair. Good flavors all around. Get the cake!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a delicious lunch hereHad a delicious lunch here and enjoyed all of our dishes. I would not call the food overly-seasoned (my husband actually thought it was a tiny bit bland) but I think the focus is on the incredibly fresh ingredients just speaking for themselves without a lot of heavy-handed additions. Beautiful crostini with local cheese, honey and a sprinkling of nuts, great pastas, delicious desserts. Had excellent wine by the glass, and our server was helpful in making suggestions. Also liked the atmosphere; warm and welcoming, not at all stuffy or pretentious. It's fun to walk around town after lunch. Totally worth the drive from S.F.1/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the food, service andLove the food, service and the general vibe. Eaten there a half dozen times and food and service is always wonderful. Going to have to start bringing my own wine. I appreciate the effort to construct a thoughtful wine list but would like to suggest that fruit is a really good idea in red wines. Every time I order a glass of red wine at Stellina..tannic, acidic mouthful. Latest example: Dashe Dry Creek Zin. Dry Creek..home of some of the very best zins. Dashe is certainly not a food friendly zin. Everyone at the table was of the same opinion. Unti Rose..yummy.12/28/2012 12:00:00 AM
