Diner Reviews
  • "If you like to eat mushy lasagna, with an indifferent waiter, all with a noise level similar to a Buffalo Wild Wings, then this is your place! Our waiter could not have cared less... was dismissive about the person at our table's food allergy, failed to fill our water glasses at any reasonable interval, never offered additional bread, failed to check in with us between courses, and was just generally an aloof dick. A large table of young businessmen next to us was so loud that it was hard to have dinner conversation, yet we never observed management asking them to quiet. This restaurant is in a great location, so I'm sure it will continue to thrive based on first-time business alone. So perhaps there's no incentive for them to perform."

  • "My friend and i Had dinner for Devour. We had the salad, chicken picatta and tirumisu. The salad was jus OK but the main meal was pretty good and dessert very good. I was really not that impressed but would go back to try something different."

  • "We enjoyed the Devour Downtown menu. The salmon was delicious. Others at my table had the lasagna and the lemon chicken and they said it was delicious as well."

  • "Food was great and the service was better. Martina took great care of us and even made a special dessert for our anniversary."

  • "This was one of the most disappointing experiences that I have had in the last 10 years. It was rushed from start to finish. Food was okay nothing special service was horrendous. Waitress paid no attention to our request to slow things down, never came back with wine cooler, never asked if we wanted another bottle of wine or a cocktail, never asked if we wanted coffee. The food was okay my lasagna was fine lacked taste but full of cheese, bechamel etc. My wife ahd the salmon and it was very good."

  • "Devour Downtown. Reservations for 6:15 promptly seated. Asked for Devour Menu. Nice basket of bread with garlic pesto sauce. (Olive oil/Balsamic at table) Iced tea great. Ordered 2 on a salad 1 Lasagna, 1 Salmon w/mashed and green beans, ($3 upgrade from asparagus) 2 on a Tiramisu. Salad in 2 big soup cups or teeny salad bowl. Waiter removed empty bread when serving the salad did not ask if we would like more. Salad was a salad. Salmon, mashed and green beans outstanding. Lasagna lacked distinction. Cheese had a re-baked consistency. Tiramisu was very good served in a martini glass making for 1/3 of a piece of Tiramisu. Ambience good. The overall food mixed. I would not avoid but I am not going back. Better Italian choices in Indy"

  • "Reservation request for booth denied even though there were open booths available. Food was just okay, nothing special. Too loud to hold a quiet conversation. Definitly NOT romantic. Server (Mike) was the bright spot in the evening. There are better options for Italian in Indy."

  • "The first time I was invited to eat here, I was a little hesitant knowing the history of hotel restaurants being overpriced. However I was pleasantly surprised at the prices, service and quality of food. I have brought numerous friends here to eat since and all have been surprised and pleased. Menu has a wide selection of food and great prices. This is definitely a little known gem."

  • "I was a huge fan of Osteria since discovering it about four years ago. I had the finest veal piccatta I'd tasted last May. This latest experience was a disappointment. The menu, which in the past was updated seasonally by the chef with new offerings, displayed a hopelessly low brow Italian fare. Chicken Parm and osso bucco in August? The risotto was overdone and while the scallops were quite delicious, the lack of care and attention to detail made the experience lackluster. For the price, one should be able to expect a quiet environment with wait staff educated to discuss the food they serve beyond basic parlance and a wine list of size. The former wine list has been boiled down to the back of a laminate menu card."

  • "I took my wife to Pronto for our anniversary dinner. While the food was good and the service was very good, the menu is rather limited."

  • "Located in the JW Marriott hotel, this is a very good venue for Italian and American cuisine. My colleagues and some business partners visited for lunch. I had an eggplant sandwich while the others had either salads or chicken parm. All done very well. We opted for the house made sparkling water as well which was a good choice. Only issue we had was with the bill. We were charged the dinner price for the lunch branzino which I caught and it was quickly corrected."

  • "I found the only problem with Pronto ... being the restaurant of a hotel, it must kowtow to the activities within the hotel. Unannounced, Pronto temporarily changed format from menu driven to a fixed price buffet for lunch that week to serve a large gathering. Pronto is NORMALLY a great business lunch spot. Not so with tray warmed buffet pasta. Either warn patrons, or don't accept reservations...Buffet reservations at that."

  • "This was convenient for us because we were staying at jW marriot But I would not have to go back food was average. I had branzino. And my friend had gnocchi. The bar area does have creative cocktails and yummy bites so I do recommend that"

  • "When I'm in the mood for breakfast, this is still my favorite spot. Love the belgian waffle with fruit compote. I'd give it five stars if they got an espresso machine and crispier potatoes. It blows my mind that you can't get espresso here. The potatoes are always kind of meh--more steamed than roasted. But, there's no where else you can have a waffle and as much smoked salmon as you'd like! Servers are always pleasant, too. I'm more appreciative of the service here after I take a break from Ostetia Pronto brunch and have brunch at The Alexander, where the servers tend to be non-existent."

  • "We were disappointed with our meal. The first problem was the menu. It differed from what was shown on line. For instance, the on line site had a picture of seared tuna which wasn't even on the current menu. My wife ordered octopus and there were only a few 0ctopus tentacles mixed in with the potatos. The restaurant at least had the decency to eliminate it from the bill when we justly complained. I ordered an appetizer of calamari, shrimp and zucchini which was extremely deep fried. We ordered one portion of Risoto for the two of us which was a huge american style portion. We split it between the two of us and it was still much larger than a typical Risoto portion in Northern italy, which I have had many times."

  • "The service was good. Knowledgeable waiter with an easy going attitude. I've had many recommendations to come here. The food was however sub par. Steak was cold, chicken was dry. Was disappointed over the food. Don't think I'll be back."

  • "7:15pm reservation for anniversary dinner. Ordered wine, soup and entrée. Entrée finally arrived at 8:55 after much cajoling with wait staff and manager. No reason given for poor service and HUGE delay in getting food. Were told numerous times meal would be out soon. I have a different definition of soon! Finally manager said he'd be back in 30 seconds with our entrée; 4 minutes later here he comes. Uninspiring menu and average food quality. They owe Italians an apology. I pity out of town guests to our city if they have the experience we did. Restaurant gave us a $100 gift card to try them again......right. If this is the best JW has to offer, it's a shame. NOTHING PRONTO ABOUT THIS PLACE. Many other reviews indicate poor service."

  • "My friend and I went to dinner here. The food was fantastic as well as the service. The server nicely split our entree and salad as requested. The shrimp rissoto was out of this world--it was an explosion of flavor in every bite. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I also appreciated that they paid for parking in the garage for eating at the restaurant."

  • "Overall experience was good. Food was excellent. Our server was a little slow and forgot to bring a drink. Food was a little pricey, however, that is to be expected as this location was downtown."

  • "Ambience aNd cocktails were good, service was fine, at best, but the food fell short! Food was bland, though the presentation was nice. Had the waiter recommended sea bass for $30. Nothing wrong with the flavor, but it wasn't anything special. I excepted more flavor, had to add table salt and pepper (why a nice restaurant like this would t have a pepper mill and/or salt caddy?) Overall, there are restaurants in Indy with much better food and service at a better price."

  • "I ordered the lasagna. It was maybe the best I've ever had. The other diners in my party also enjoyed their meals. We felt comfortable enough in our shorts and shirts--not too stuffy for a Marriot. We were at the museum and got hungry. I come from an Italian family and have had some very good food. The waiter sounded Italian. He wasn't the most experienced(didn't get everyones app order--wrongfully assumed we were all sharing) but had the right amount of attentiveness. He waited for the glance in his direction and didn't interrupt our conversation with needless checking. Great wine list. Many decent glass options. Amazing bottle options."

  • "The wine was excellent and waiter was quite knowledgeable, the food was terrific except the sausage pasta dish was not my favorite meal."

  • "We had a great time and the staff was very pleasant. They did not rush us as some do, allowing us to dine in peace and just enjoy a great evening with some old friends we needed to visit with. What a great night."

  • "Had dinner at Osteria Pronto while on a recent business trip to Indiana. It was by far the best food I had: delicious and fresh Italian meal. Try the gnocchi! I highly recommend!!"

  • "Our party of three enjoyed an appetizer, entree (lasagna, spaghetti with meatball (a tennis ball-sized meatball!), and lamb), and dessert (lava cake and gelato with fruit. Everything we had was good, and the lasagna and lamb were quite tasty. We'd order both of these entrees again. Some have complained that the service was slow, but we interpretted it as our server allowing us to take our time to enjoy each course. He was attentive, but not overbearing and we liked that. This was our first visit, and we'll definitely drop in again."

  • "I usually don't venture to the mid-west for the seafood. I was told by an associate of a great cioppino in Indianapolis and decided to give it a try. The entire menu consisted of a wide array of 'entratas' at an amazing value. JW (generally speaking) can be a bit stuffed shirt at times, but this is a diamond in the rough."

  • "Our server, Sarah, was great. However, our party of 4 was underwhelmed by the quality of the food. I had the lasagna which was too dry on the inside. Another had the roasted chicken which was described as "OK". My wife had a pasta dish which she said was bland. Overall, not a great dinner. "
