A word from Osteria Mozza
Osteria Mozza is the Michelin Starred upscale sibling to the adjacent Pizzeria Mozza, both the brainchild of partners Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich. Anchored by Nancy's massive Mozzarella bar, the soaring Osteria provides a sophisticated but lively environment to enjoy a menu inspired by her dazzling work with Mozzarella and other fresh cheeses and Batali's exploits throughout Italy. The all-Italian wine list continues the tradition by offering bottlings from the country's finest producers with a focus on Piedmont, Friuli and Tuscany.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Was looking forward to this, after enjoying Batali restaurants in LA, New York, Newport Beach, and Singapore. But rather disappointed with the old décor, average service and average food. Sits in the category of "a bit tired, needs to freshen up". Not sure about the location either. Kind of odd; more like a neighbourhood venue than any sort of destination."

  • "You name it, I've dined there 3, 4 ,5 star establishments. Osteria is worth the hassle of planning a reservation far in advance. Smoked octopus was tender, tasteful. The gnocchi light and fluffy, better than any in Italy, in a duck ragu perfectly seasoned. Appetizer with grilled artichokes on a crustini mozerrella, currants (absolutely wonderful - well balanced textures and flavor). Suffed quail wrapped in pancetta seared perfectly. Presentation of all dishes was without flaw! The service was exactly as it should be, attentive w/o being overbearing. Osteria deserves the reputation it has earned!"

  • "never had a bad experience but we were left with empty appetizer/salad plates in front of us for ages and it took forever for even a glass of wine to arrive. the waiter actually never asked if we wanted wine when he took our order. we had a very well behaved 5 year old with us and his food arrived quickly but then we all waited for ages for the rest of the meal. the food, as always, was dreamy!"

  • "I have read that this restaurant is supposedly one of the best. My brother and I went to check it out in the hopes of planning a large party here. The service was absolutely horrendous. The staff was very slow for everything, the menu was not explained at all, and we only saw our waiter when he was taking our orders. The food was great but I felt as if the waiters forgot about us."

  • "Because Osteria Mozza is so famous and high end when foodies were in from Dallas we were concerned all would be disappointed. How could it live up to the reputation for real people? It did. We were treated just like the wealthy. Excellent service and food. Blew us away. And never have a seen my take home bag been so well take care of. Only challenge was a quite slow valet."

  • "Food portions small for price, wine selection good, Service was snooty, bread was cold and hard, wait staff did nothing to improve experience. Not worth the napkin folding. Presentation is done well from kitchen when it arrives. Tables too close together. It went being able to talk to music that even though was soft in style , loud in volume. You spend a couple of hundred of dollars on dinner and get hit with a 10.00 Valet charge. Will not go back"

  • "Outstanding.Sunday, we ordered the fixed price dinner at Amaro Bar:The $42 price includes a glass of very good wine, a Mozarella, pasta and dessert from the menu.We also ordered the shaved brussel sprouts, not-to-be-missed.A delicious spectrum of tastes. Everything perfectly prepared, service prompt, friendly Amaro bartenders answered our many questions (Mozarella 101!). The decor muted elegance, piano jazz warms the room. After a leisurely meal completed by olive oil gelato lightly sprinkled with rock salt and a dab of olive oil, with tiny olive oil cakes dusted with powdered sugar (oh, please!), we happily floated out the door. When we left, the host asked us about our experience, to which we could only answer "heavenly.""

  • "The food was a fabulous array of choices and flavors. Our party of four very different palettes were all extremely satisfied. Great vegetarian options as well. Wonderful service from start to finish, we were seated right on time for our reservation. Our server was outstanding, full of friendly advice! Truly amazing! He made the night that much better! I can not wait to dine again! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! It's a great place to celebrate, we were there for my birthday and it made the whole day complete. Thank You!"

  • "some of the items were excellent (salad, burratta, fish) some were merely ok (octopus, dessert.) had hoped all would be outstanding. dining room is very loud. excellent service. however, our waitress was not friendly; no need to be stiff just because it's fine dining."

  • "excellent in all respects. a bit too loud for our taste and very pricey. still, a grand dining experience. wonderful cheese! inventive spirit choices as well."

  • "Priced too high for what you get. Food well prepared, portions on the small side. Ambiance compromised by noise and crowding. Had to check it out but not a place for regular repeat dining."

  • "The food was amazing. The grilled octopus was the best I've ever had."

  • "We fortunately got a table in the back room and Jeff Daniels was sitting at the table next to us. Besides, the great ambiance their burrata is amazing and the portion size was larger than most restaurants who serve burrata. Next we had the agnolotti and it too was delicious although I had there tagliatelle and I think their tagliatelle is even better. After we had their duck, and it was very rich so it was difficult to finish it after having the creamy rich agnolotti prior. Finally we finished with their apple and gelato desert and it was a great way to end their meal. Overall the service was friendly and knowledgeable, the food is solid, and they really make the evening an experience as we dined there for over two hours so we'll be back."

  • "My wife and I decided to try this for our anni and we both felt somewhat disappointed. Food was good but ambience was not at all romantic, we had a hard time hearing each other sitting 2 feet apart. If your lucky 1 person in your group will see the goings on inside, whereas other people will get to stare at a wall. It seems they just shoehorned in as many tables as they could without regard for peoples comfort. At other high end restaurants we would receive a personalized menu or some other item that we can save to remember the occasion, so we were disappointed that we chose this one because no such treatment existed. To be fair the food was good and reasonably priced, although I don't think we will go back, its just too loud and cramped."

  • "Every dish we had and every dish we saw other people were eating just extraordinary. The presentation like a piece of art, delicious, fresh and innovative. Starting with a chef's little extra in the beginning. A little toast with ricotta, something crunchy, burrata is delicate and fresh, grilled octopus with lemony sauce salad, ravioli with goat cheese are so good that you want to try everything in this place. Definitely must try."

  • "My wife and I went to Osteria Mozza to celebrate her birthday. We were hoping to try their pasta tasting menu, but found out when we got there that they were no longer offering it. When we informed our server of our situation, he offered us the opportunity to create our own sort of tasting menu with wine pairing. It was a fantastic experience, and his wine pairing selections were spot on. They even brought her a special dessert. It was a truly great time that we will cherish and remember always."

  • "2nd time here and better than ever! Every dish was so much better than I thought possible. The octopus- I never wanted to swallow as the taste in your mouth is a burst of never ending flavor. We ordered too much- couldn't think about dessert. I'm glad we sat near the front door as the music seems to be "wrong" for this restaurant and much louder on other side of restaurant."

  • "Food was great; service was superb. Our waitress was quite knowledgeable and could not have been more helpful. The wine list is both impressive and expensive. But the corkage fee allows you to bring a very nice bottle of wine and pay $30 corkage. The food is superb. Noise level is too high."

  • "This is a well known spot and has earned its reputation as one of the best of LA. The bar was packed. The drinks were great. The energy was high. It's fun to hang out and people watch before dinner and anticipate the meal that awaits. We had a group of 6. We got a round table near the bar. High energy level which only enhances the experience. You have to try the mozzarella. So many great and unusual choices. This sets Osteria apart from peers. The salads and pasta were shared between couples. Everything was great. We brought our own wine which was received well. The desserts put us over the top. If you've not been to Osteria Mozza make a point to go. It's an experience that you will long remember."

  • "Food was up to expectations. Menu is designed for 3 courses and portion size is European style which are smaller, which i prefer. Service was a bit rushed, hectic and sporadic; but quality once you get attention was good."

  • "I'm not typically a fan of Italian food but wanted to treat my husband to something I thought he would like (he loves Italian) I was blown away by everything. We ordered the brussels sprout salad and it was AMAZING! We also both ordered the butternut squash pasta and it was heavenly. The wine list is extensive which is fun and if you are looking for one of the best amazing chianti wines.... you'll find it there."

  • "Exceptional food, wine, a dozen or so burratas flown in from that morning from Italy--we had one with leeks--outrageously creamy with fabulous bread. A shaved brusselspout and Parmesan salad, two pastas--orechiette with finely diced fennel sausage and greens, one ravioli with a creamy mild yet interesting goat cheese. No secondi or dessert--we were very satisfied and delighted."

  • "We were here for a pre-theater dinner. It pained me to tell our server that we could not linger. Tim did a great job. He never rushed us, but each course came out in a timely manner. The food was off the scale good. The artichoke starter followed by a pasta dish and beef short rib built beautifully on one another. Each course was better than the last -- hot, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. We were lucky enough to be seated in the smaller, back room. The walls are lined with bottles. The ambience is quiet and cozy. The wine menu is almost all French and Italian. Huge and pricey. Nonetheless, something for everyone. Hats off to Tim -- we made the show -- and to the entire crew. Well done !"

  • "I knew what we were going to order ahead of time because we had the menu online. Probably because we had to google some of the items, not knowing what they were. That's OK, the food was delicious, service was impeccable and though it was our first time, we would definitely go back for special occasions. A bit noisy though."
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "Let's start with 5 stars for good wine and flavors, though a little salty. Minus a star for small portions and inflated prices. No olive oil, balsamic, butter to go with the bread? Come on! Lose another star for wait staff who look tense and make no attempts to be friendly. Finally, the atmosphere is not fine dining, for what you pay, there shouldn't be a loud and noisy bar plonked in the middle. 2 stars. Went for our anniversary but don't plan on going back anytime soon. Places like Osteria la bucca nearby offer better tasting and more generous Italian food in a romantic, relaxed setting"

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Osteria Mozza. Our table was ready at our reserved time, the service was impeccable and the food was excellent. There were lots of choices, and a slightly different flair from traditional italian food. I will definitely go back!"

  • "The food was truly amazing but the service ruined our evening. We were a party of eight - some of us had flown down from SF - to celebrate a birthday - all ready to have a good time. I could start with the rude bartender but the real problem was at the table. We wanted to order several courses - pair wines, and make decisions in time - but that wasn't 'allowed." According to our server, "the chef" wanted everything - all six courses - by all eight of us -- ordered all at once. This had to be reiterated a second time by someone in management. It was surreal. If "the chef" was paying for our food & wine it'd be different but that obviously wasn't the case. We all felt trapped by this crazy (intolerant) policy and will not be returning."

  • "The food was very tasty, although the waiter recommended too much food for four people: 2 or 3 starters, two pastas, and a main course each. We did not follow his advice. Service was very slow, with uncomfortably long waits between courses, no return of the bread server, and no inquiries if we wanted more wine. My glass was empty by the time the main course was served. Given the emphasis on small plates and sharing, the table itself was too small to accommodate water glasses, wine glasses, bread plates and a shared platter in the middle. Lots of repositioning stuff to make room. It's a very attractive space, but on the noisy side."
