Osteria Morini - New YorkMy wife and I love OsteriaMy wife and I love Osteria Morini. We've had at least half-a-dozen meals there. The food at a recent brunch was typically excellent -- but we shared one special that disappointed us. This was the first time we were ever less than happy with the restaurant's food. But because every kitchen is entitled to an occasional misfire, we'll be glad to return. Osteria Morini is usually terrific.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat Michael White casual.The ambiance is casual, sounds of happy eaters all around. The food is anything but casual, it's very,very good. Well prepared and served by a great staff. Homemade pastas are super, and the seafood soup is fabulous. Go without fear or trepidation!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulThe pastas are amazing! The Bronzino was delicately delicious.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGo for the foodThe food is really excellent but be prepared for a crowd and noise6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food Energetic AtmosphereArrived early for our reservation, however they were able to seat us immediately! The wait staff worked as a team, and all of them were excellent. The food was fresh, well presented, and very tasty...LOVED the wine selection! Loved the energy we were able to view from a back corner table (requested)...GREAT dining experience!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing service, knowledgeableAmazing service, knowledgeable waiter. May be the best HOMEMADE pasta I have eaten in NY...sorry Delposto!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHungry?Everything was wonderful but the $170 later after three appetizers, charcuterie/cheese board and one entrée we left still hungry... portion sizes could definitely be bigger.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth it!Great for sharing and for the tasting menu you get so much food that it is impossible to eat it all. Well worth it!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's like you are in Emelia-RomagnaI could have been in Italy eating this meal. It was exactly like being in Bologna or Rimini.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Capellini is a MUSTYou MUST have the Capellini. Right off the first bite, you can taste the richness and flavor of this pasta dish before you can even finish eating one piece of this pasta. It's pretty awesome, the best capellini I've ever had. We mainly stuck with the pasta dishes and none of them disappointed.
The restaurant is in a pretty trendy neighborhood, convenient to get to via subway. The bar seems comfy, but the whole dining area is decorated in a very homely Italian countryside. It's very clean and the staff is welcoming and attentive.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMelt in Your MouthOur meal with bread was incredible ! The pasta was fabulous !5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVEI ALWAYS love Morini...
wine menu = perfect
food = delicious
The only thing is that EVERY time my meal-time gets close to the end of the dinner shift the waiters turn into ghosts...5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BrunchGood wine list - go ahead and try the wine on tap...nicely priced and a good choice. Meat selections are very good - we had the 5 choices to share and enjoyed everything. Pasta dishes are perfect. We were a group of 6 and were able to have a lovely meal and good conversation. It's a little pricy, and the dishes are a little small, so don't expect gigantic portions. But it's all good, well executed and I would definitely recommend it.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst TimerIt was my first time dining here and I will definitely be back. I loved the ambiance. It smells so great when you walk in. I like that you can see into the kitchen. The menu is awesome and the pasta was so authentic. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other offerings on the menu.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite Italian restaurantWe love this restaurant. Food is consistently amazing. The prices are reasonable and the service is awesome.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food, ok serviceThe food was AMAZING. But it was weird that they would seat only full parties (when everyone in a party has arrived) even when I had a reservation. The weirder part is they held our table for 1 hour until everybody in our party came - they wouldn't seat us (2 out of 4 were there) even though we said we were ready to order appetizers and drinks.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!Went to Osteria Morini for our last dinner in New York after a week in the city. It was by far our best meal.
The ambience and service were great. Dinner was fantastic. Risotto cooked to perfection, pan seated branzino was succulent, olive oil cake for dessert was amazing.
Would recommend this restaurant to anyone: there were couples, groups and even families happily enjoying their meals.
A great way to end our vacation.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI'll be backGreat food and Great Service. Everything was delicious! Yes I tried my friends dishes.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGenuine ItalianWhat a great experience!! Our waiter was the BEST... Recommended the wine, food and chatted appropriately as dinner progressed. The portions were perfect (sometimes you can over order especially Italian food). We will go back for sure and will recommend this restaurant to friends and family.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful!On a girls' day off in the city, my best friend and I enjoyed a long leisurely lunch at Osteria Morini. It was recommended to me by a friend who is a private chef and sommellier (and top grad of the French Culinary Institute). She did not steer us wrong! The prix fixe menu looked great, but we opted to graze with charcuterie and cheese, some small plates and then shared a pasta dish. Everything was absolutely delicious. Fantastic flavors. Service was attentive. I would definitely go back and highly recommend it.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMixed, But Food Is GreatThe taste, presentation and prompt delivery of the food, more than offset the server w/ attitude (altho he DID know his product) & the woman at adjoining table w/ loud piercing voice and raucous laugh. We had the prix fix tasting menu and my seafood salad was Wonderful; ravioli stuffed w/ ricotta & stuffed octopus were all winners... olive oil cake for dessert was surprisingly good too. Making me pay for the 2nd cup of coffee (even came back w/ adjusted check!) was a bit of a surprise, but... I did like the place enuf to want to go back and try their Brunch or even try to get there at lunch time and hope for a server w/ less attitude & more willing to pay some attention to his tables.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA great Mother's DayWe had an 8:15pm reservation for our family of 6. We could carry on a conversation and enjoy a lovely meal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodWe ordered the crostini, polenta and salad. And everything was oustanding. The seasonal beer was excelent and the peach bellini it was the best I had ever tried.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch for Mother's DayThe food here is excellent. This is "real" italian food. The fresh pasta was so yellow you could tell it was made with egg and the flavor of the vongole was delicate and not overdone. The rucola salad was flavorful and not overdressed with shavings of cheese and artichoke. Even the foccacia style bread was light and flavorful. The service, however, was not stellar. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't very attentive or helpful. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOsteria Morini tries to duplicateOsteria Morini tries to duplicate the experience of a trattoria in Emilia-Romagna, and for the most part it succeeds. Dishes range from good to outstanding, and the restaurant's often unfamiliar wines are interesting. At night, the chatter of diners can be so loud that you may have trouble hearing dinner companions. But excellent food redeems the din.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing pastas!Went for a Friday lunch at Morini; it was quiet when we arrived at noon, but quickly filled in. We had a selection of 3 crostini; the lamb crudo, and fava & pea were both excellent; the parmigiano was slightly too salty. Also had the grilled octopus which was cooked perfectly. The pastas, however, were the star of the show. The 'Creste' with shrimp & sepia ragu was absolutely killer and the 'Cappelletti' was also delicious. Can't say enough about the quality of the pastas. We are already looking forward to our next visit.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FindAmong the many many Italian restaurants in NYC - this is a very good find. Some reviews complain of service but we found it relaxed and well paced to our desires. The food was outstanding as was the wine and bothe reasonably priced - a definate repeat5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPasta loversWe went there twice in a week because we were so delighted the first time. The pasta was perfect and the service too. The second time we were slightly less happy as the waiter was not so friendly and helpful and the pasta not quite as good. The experience here depends highly on who the nights cook is and how lucky you are with your waiter.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMKnown for pasras, but appetizersKnown for pasras, but appetizers are fabulous as well.!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe tortellini dumpling soupThe tortellini dumpling soup was amazing, as was the melted cheese & hazelnut appetizer. The pasta's are a must! Thoroughly enjoyed the meal, ambiance & evening.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing pastaWe tried four different pastas and each one seemed to be better than the last4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLoud. Expected better serviceLoud. Expected better service for a restaurant of this level.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMScottStamfordThis is a great place. The wine is all Italian and very good. We decided to eat at the bar rather than get a table and it worked out fine. The menu is varied and the food was excellent as was the service. You have to have a reservation unless you can find a seat the bar which is possible but unlikely as the night goes on.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal! The serviceExcellent meal! The service was great and the food was perfect. Impressive charcuterie and cheeses. Great pastas as to be expected. Will definitely return.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBased on the food and wine,thisBased on the food and wine,this place is fantastic. But our waitress so was cold, I have to rate it "very good." I don't know why Osteria Morini hires these snooty, stand-offish waitresses.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here was fantastic.The food here was fantastic. Subtle, creative, fresh - really outstanding.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pasta spotThe food is very good, especially the pastas, the wine & beer program is hyped and over priced, the chairs are uncomfortable and the service is satisfactory. The management is very nice.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is definitely my newThis is definitely my new Go-To restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing, as is the wonderful service.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat vibe and foodThe poached octopus was stellar and the cheese raviolli was to die for. Love the vibe at this place!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pasta, of course. VeryGreat pasta, of course. Very good wine selection. We had a delicious meal—fresh, flavorful and unpretentious.
Noise level is loud. And the heights of the tables and chairs felt a little mismatched. It seemed like the chairs could've been an inch higher and the table an inch shorter for more comfortable dining.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding ...topFood was outstanding ...top 3 Italians in the NYC.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my new favorite restaurantThis is my new favorite restaurant in the city. The food is unique, prepared and presented well, and ultimately delicious. They really shine with their specialty cocktails, and their bartenders are extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place if you love excellent food, spirits and company!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBest risotto I have had inBest risotto I have had in a long time. Salad okay, but not great!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDistracted hostess on thisDistracted hostess on this visit.
There was one table (of four) in the dining room when we arrived. She sat us directly behind them on a banquette. We asked to move down a few banquettes since it felt cramped. A minute or two later, she put another group of four (with two small children) directly behind us again!
We then asked to move to the bar since it felt very claustrophobic . When we indicted that she put the second group there she said she "hadn't noticed". There were only three tables occupied in the whole place! I thought a hostess was supposed to notice things like where she seats guests.
After we settled in, the food was great as always with excellent service. And I would definitely sit in the bar again.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOur table was waiting forOur table was waiting for us upon arrival. Very good maitre d and service. Fun ambiance. Too loud for us however. Hard to hear. Food good but not fabulous.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThoroughly enjoyed the eveningThoroughly enjoyed the evening although we had to wait 30 minutes for our table and it was very cramped just standing waiting. However they did apologise profusely. Would go back. Staff very good and friendly.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!!!Mangiare italiano, anzi Romagnolo, anzi Imolese a New York non ha prezzo!!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGot a gift certificate forGot a gift certificate for a gift so I was a real treat. Would return again even without a gif cetificate.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPretentious, no. Delicious, yes.Casual atmosphere make for a great, relaxed date night for when you want to get great food but don't want to get too fancy. Also, must get dessert. In fact, get several and share.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is the real deal.This place is the real deal. I lived in Italy for two years. It was outstanding from service on.
