A word from Osteria - Moorestown
A traditional Italian Osteria, where you can choose from our homemade pastas, thin crust pizzas, or wood grilled meats and fish.
Inspired by Osteria Philadelphia, our Moorestown Mall location is classically designed to have a warm, evocative feel in an industrial setting. With wine-red-stained concrete floors, a gleaming vintage Faema coffee machine, solid antique pine country tables and a wall of beautifully stained wine boxes. Additionally, the menu changes seasonally, to go with our 100 bottle Italian wine list featuring grapes from Trentino to Sicily and all stops in between.

I had hopes for this restaurant considering it's predicesors. We were seated along a bench on top of other patrons who were obnoxious and vulgur. Not my idea of a great dinner. Also, our waitress was over accomadating to me and pretty much rude and dismisive to my husband. The menu was limited. I had the duck pasta which was tasty but a little over salted. My husband had the Turkey Milanese which was bland at best. They should list what is on the charcuterie tray because had they mentioned there was head cheese on it and chicken liver pate I would had ordered a different appetizer. Might try again in future for lunch and grab a pizza which seemed to be more of the specialty.

We didn't really understand half of the menu, but the flatbread was highly enjoyable. The fig gelato desert was not as we expected, but overall a decent experience. I prefer the Center City Philadelphia location over this one.

Picked out Osteria for a central meeting place with 3 dear old friends. The hostess greeted me and made me feel comfortable while waiting for the group. Service /wait staff were attentive and served me coffee and water while I perused the menu. The choices were varied and interesting. When the rest of the group arrived the server explained different ingredients used in preparation, she was very knowledgeable . The meal arrived hot and was served in a gracious manner. Everyone loved their choice for brunch, delicious with wonderful notes and flavors. Even though we sat and talked for close to 2 hours we were made to feel welcome and not rushed. Overall wonderful afternoon and I can't wait to return

I most likely will not be back at Osteria. Although the food was good, my group and I left hungary, and we left feeling ripped off for the price. You think for the price of the entree you would receive a nice size portion. It would have been nice if the server suggested for us to order sides and appetizer. Also the wine selection is not the norm and it was difficult to find a wine that suited our taste. I dine out for business and personal engagements and will not recommend this place in the future!!!!!

Overall how can one enjoy their meal when they are practical sitting in the laps of the people to their left and to their right. The spaces between the tables barely give one enough room to even get to your seats. The pizza is better at Dominos and was bland, cold, and overdone. The dessert menu did not have one choice that even was remotely desirable to order.

The Appetizer of the day was a Beef Tartare with beets. It was a taste that I shall not forget. Sheer perfection. The Pasta course was also wonderful, salumi tortellini in a squash sauce. Wow! I give the restaurant five stars just on those courses. The entree courses featuring brined chicken and brined pork were less noteworthy. The chicken was tender and moist but the salt flavor was excessive. The pork was good but did not live up to the first two courses. We will return and can't wait to try some more appetizers and pasta courses. Excellent, knowledgeable servers made this a nice experience.

Jessica and her trainee, Carolina (sp?) were very cordial, pleasant and professional. My Wife and I started off with a stiff drink and two delicious appetizers, Wood Grilled Octopus and Veal Sweetbreads. What a Great Combination ! For Dinner, we thoroughly enjoyed their Skirt Steak and Monkfish entrees. We consider Osteria to be Exotic, Eccentric, and Excellent. You have to try it with an open mind and Enjoy.

My husband and I went to Osteria for our 20th anniversary. The food was great as was the service. My only complaint was that we were seated at a tiny table in a long line of tables that were literally on top of one another. I heard all about the man at the table next to ours custody arrangement with his ex-wife. I did not need to hear that and I'm sure he would rather I not as well! A woman two tables down from us knocked her wine glass over causing it to shatter and the woman at the table next to her had to have a new dinner made because they were concerned that glass had flown onto her plate. When I'm paying the amount that we did for dinner it would be nice to have a private table where I can talk with my husband.

Every available square inch has had a table jammed into it. Getting around the restaurant is extremely tight and sitting is no better. The tables are arranged so tight you can easily be a part of your neighbors conversations. We were given one ipad, but only as a win/drink menu, the food menu was separate, that feels a little too gimmicky. The staff was very nice and attentive and the food was good, but the prices were high, the space uncomfortable and the ipad, pretty stupid. They seem desperate to maximize profit from every square inch and by doing so guaranteed no more of that profit will come from me. ---Good food, good staff, bad design, high prices---

Who would have thought that a first-rate restaurant could be in a mall? Osteria definitely is an excellent restaurant, with all the courses we had living up to the hype (and the Craig Leban review). Would go again, and probably need to try the one in Center City, as well--it's certainly closer.

Excellent fine dining choice without having to go to Philadelphia. I have always enjoyed Vetri's places in Philly and this is no exception. A bit pricey but a fantastic menu. The 4 course Fall Harvest Week Menu at $35 was an excellent choice, especially when paired with the $15 wine pairing. The veal sweetbreads with borlotti beans, pancetta and parmesan fonduta was memorable with crispy sweetbread nuggets. Very nice cocktail selections but the server brought me the special Negroni instead of the asked-for traditional Negroni. Very nice but not quite to my taste. Service staff was extremely nice and helpful, but our server seemed a bit overwhelmed and could use a bit more training.

for a restaurant with this reputation the dining exprience was very disappointing. the service was too bad to describe - long waits, wrong order, many apologies but no improvement. we left before dessert. there was no point. the food was at best average. they were busy but thats no excuse. if you want to charge premium prices you should prove to better than restaurants that are half the price. this is unacceptable for a restaurant with this owner

Osteria is clever with buying $4 of food and drink and charging $45 for it. Thought I was getting a good value with south jersey restaurant week but did not. Got basically noodles, cabbage. Looked good but was fluff. Might go back for a drink sometime but not anxious to buy more overpriced fluffy food.

Menu ... limited and average in quality (I may lack the sophistication to appreciate the menu, but I’m there for dinner not to stroke someone’s ego). Service ... was good not great. Food quality ... average to below. Pricing ... way to high for the variety and quality of what you get. Seating ... in parties of two, one of two people gets lined up on a wood bench 18 inches from the other guests on either side (not really very intimate [like eating at a trough]). There are hundreds of better place to eat in South Jersey, not to mention Philadelphia.

We had a fabulous meal at Osteria in Moorestown last night! We began with cocktails and appetizers- the scallop carpaccio (so light and fresh!) and the wood-grilled octopus. What a great start to the meal! Our entrees were the grilled cobia over fresh polenta with mushrooms- every element on the plate was perfect- and pork milanese, at the server's suggestion. He didn't steer us wrong! For dessert, my husband had the house made pistachio gelato, and I had the apple rivoltare (turnover) with apple butter and cinnamon gelato. Again, perfection! Our server (Kyle), the manager, and other staff were very friendly and attentive but not overly so. Excellent all the way around.

Food was excellent. One of us ordered the Fall Harvest Special, and altho every course was very good, it was a bit disappointing that there were only 2 main entrees to choose from and they seemed to be very similar in preparation. Fig pizza was delicious. As was brussel sprout salad and postage stamp ravioli. Ingredients are top shelf and food is creative. Not a lot of good choices for wine by the glass, in our opinion. Un-cushioned wooden chairs do not encourage you to linger over your meal. Service was attentive, friendly and very helpful describing many Italian terms on the menu.

I had been to the Philly location multiple times and have never been disappointed. The NJ location was just as delicious. Do not be deceived by the fact the restaurant is connected to the Moorestown Mall --- The food is really the best Italian you can get. Service was wonderful and leisurely. You can NEVER go wrong with the octopus dish, it is my favorite. I took my friend to dinner for her birthday this night and she is a vary picky, a bit trying of a patron, and she adored it and had not one complaint. And I have read other reviews on here where people were unhappy with the price, I think it is actually very reasonably priced for such a quality meal. Cannot wait to go back!

The service was strange. Four different people took care of us, which was good because they were attentive, but we didn't know who our actual server was. The food was horrible. I got the skirt steak with scallions and mushrooms. It had 2 mushrooms and ZERO flavor. The only reason I even ate it was because it was $30. We also had the mozzarella antipasto, which was really just 2 fried mozzarella squares. If I'm paying $15 for 2 pieces of mozzarella, it better be the best, and it wasn't even close to good. The only good part of the meal was the Prosecco, which the restaurant can't take any credit for. Overall, I'd never go back to this restaurant again, not to eat at least. They need to make some major good changes or it won't last long.

I saw the lunch deal promoted--$15 for two courses plus a fountain beverage. You simply can't have a meal like Osteria at that price point. Both the first and second courses were significant. I had an arugula salad and the pasta Bolognese--both were dinner sized portions. Our table also had ordered the mozzarella appetizer, a margarita pizza and veggie Panini. Why eat at a middle of the road spot for lunch when you can get a high end offering at the same price?

Being familiar with Mark Vetri and loving his other restaurants, we were excited to try Osteria in Moorestown. Sadly, it does not compare to the other Vetri restaurants. Despite the high prices, the food was not well conceived (feature ingredients often lost in the pairings), not fresh (Carpaccio came out brownish and stale), and poorly prepared (cold and soupy crème brulee). Service was also lacking (we had to wait for menus, had trouble tracking down server when needed, and appetizer dishes were left un-bussed on the table through most of main course). Had this been a $75 meal, it would have been tolerable. But not for $140. If you are looking for a true Vetri dining experience, head into Philadelphia and skip Moorestown.

Too loud! Even with the windows open and patio dining available, conversation was impossible. Wait staff misrepresented several entree's on the menu which led to some disappointment. Wine list was very limited and the sommeliers simply directed us to the most expensive options available rather than listen to what our tastes were. That said, prices were reasonable but not enough to overcome an average at best dining experience.
