A word from Osteria Mattone
Osteria Mattone is a neighborhood restaurant serving regional Italian cuisine with a heavy focus on Roman fare, combining the casual spirit of an Osteria with the more formal dining of a Trattoria.

We open for dinner at 5pm Tuesday-Sunday, and we happily accept reservations for our Trattoria dining rooms. Our patio and Osteria dining room are available on a "first come-first served" basis for walk-in guests.

We look forward to serving you!

This was my second visit. Still as good as I'd hoped (and brought another couple to introduce them to the restaurant). Totally enjoyed it....except for the sauteed dandelion greens....a little too different for my taste

From valet parking thru dessert, our evening at Osteria Mattone was a class act. Everyone we encountered exhibited excellent customer service. Everything we ordered was well presented and delicious. It is fairly expensive, but is well worth it. We will definitely return.

Start to finish, everything went without a hitch for a great celebration. Friendly, helpful - but only when needed - staff in the bar and at the table; kitchen was spot on, great wine list (discovered a very nice Ripasso); we shared Misto Fritto, Lamb Chops, Pasta di Mare with a side of sauteed spinach, finished with the Lemon Fritters. Pretty awesome; we'll be back soon - Thanks

What a wonderful dining experience. We sat outside on one of the nicest evenings in Atlanta! Our server was phenomenal (shame on me for not remembering her name), food was fantastic and everything was perfect. Loved the menu and cannot wait to go back. This is a gem in Roswell for sure.

Favorites this visit: appetizer of Octopus/chickpea/arugula with a delicate lime/mint sauce, and the pasta/seafood Entree - Tagliolini di Mare. Least fave - Maiale alla Milanese /fried pork loin. Would not order again. Flavor good, but the small amount of meat was overwhelmed by breading. Staff is attentive.

A group of 6 dined on a Wednesday night and it was busy! Loved the look of the entire place and they have a great outdoor seating area. I wanted to love the food but was left a little disappointed. We started with risotto balls (pretty good), funghi pizza (great), and the mussel special. Mussels weren't great to me but a few others in the group liked them. All six of us got a different dish and what I ordered was by far my favorite, the agnolotti di oxo. Braised oxtail, short rib, buttery jus - you can't go wrong. All other dishes were just ok, nothing stood out. Carbonara wasn't salty enough, even w/ pancetta and parmesan and lamb chops were somewhat bland too. Would give it 3.5 stars for that night but will definitely give it another try!

My wife and I decided to check this place out (as we are big fans of sister Restaurant Table and Main) and found the atmosphere, staff and food to be absolutely delightful. Thomas at the Bar made us feel at home and was very accommodating. Our waitstaff and the chef were very attentive - I mentioned i had a soy allergy and they went out of their way to make sure to steer me away from any potential offenders and even specially prepare a dish that would normally have had some soybean oil in it to make sure I could still enjoy what I wanted without worry. Everything was absolutely delightfully delicious and will be go back. Interesting selection fo spirits at the bar as well for cocktail lovers and a nice simple but excellent wine list.

The ambiance was nice but the food, bread and salad were over priced and lacking in flavor. Some items were better than others. Braised oxtail ravioli was salty and at $22 I was still hungry. The salad did not have much flavor. The salmon was good. The bread was doughy. An ant crawled on the table at the end of service.

The food is more authentic Italian than your typical Italian restaurant but the selection is not as threatening to a none native Italian as it could be. Attention was obviously paid to put on the menu what we would like to eat or at least choose from. Our waiter did say that the restaurant has attracted many native Italians who praise the food. The service is more refined than your typical local restaurant and the wine list has gotten a Wine Spectator award - displayed at the door. We asked for a recommendation and were offered a very clear and unpretentious explanation of our wine options.

We liked it but didn't love it. I think we went to early, the noise was , loud. They tried sitting us on the smallest table, eve!!!. Service was great, but I can't say that the food was as good as the 1st time I had went. And, knowing we paid $60 for a $17 bottle of wine is a little bothersome. I am all about supporting local, family owned places but, that is a bit much......The chocolate, hazelnut , layer cake, was absolutely, delicious! !!!

First visit. Read the great reviews so took some guests from out of town. Nice setting. Food and service was very good but did not quite "blow my socks off" consistent with the hype (wish the OT ratings had more range - this restaurant is better than "4" rated restuarants but did not feel like it was the "best" or a "5"). Salads were quite good and "farm to table" type ingredients. Roasted artichoke and ham / melon / cheese appetizers were excellent. Had a variety of meat, pasta, and fish entrees. All good, one (oxtail / short rib pasta) was tremendous. Only minor complaint was the bread - dry and not much flavor. Recommend the restaurant and will give it a try again.

Traditional Italian with some interesting flourishes. Very nice oxtail/short rib stuffed pasta dish. Primo craft cocktails. Decent italian wine list and very nice desert slate. Engaging, professional service. Upscale neighborhood ambiance and menu fine for our 11 and 13 y/o kids. No real compaints...except probably 15-20% overpriced across the board.

Our second visit with friends. An innovative and well composed menu. Subtle flavours combined with good eye appeal made each dish interesting. The special was particularly delicious. Unfortunately the latter half of our evening was marred by the arrival of a boisterous and noisy group that were seated near our table. Even if other diners were not fazed by the increase in the noise level we were and we would have expected the manager to have requested a little more restraint from the group without prompting from us. We eventually took our dessert and coffee in the garden Non the less we look forward to our next visit

I had lunch at Osteria Mattone on two other occasions, and enjoyed it as a fine dine experience--tablecloths, good service and nice ambiance. This time, there was a large group having a get-together there, that totally changed the feel of the lunch. It isn't fun to listen to speeches, applause and lots of conversation that isn't usually a part of having a meal out. I was hoping my two friends who had never eaten here before would enjoy it, but the experience wasn't worth the cost of the meal.

Our waitress was personable, attentive, had beautiful cheekbones which we recognized. We got into a great conversation with her. The gazpacho is the most unusual and delicious of any I have ever had. I think this is a good restaurant, but not necessarily worth driving to from in the perimeter to visit. The food overall is good. The fish dishes, especially the swordfish was terribly overcooked. The pasta dish my friend had also lacked robust flavor. The pizza and the appetizers were good however. I think if you are in the area, then this restaurant is fine. Service was a bit spotty, perhaps because the restaurant was very busy?

There was a lot of hype about this restaurant from friends. And trying to get a reservation was quite difficult because of its popularity. The menu was interesting; the wine list was good, the service was very good. The food was a little bit of a let down. Not special enough. No really outstanding flavor combinations or incredible bites that brings your thought processes to a halt for an audible response. One notable downside was the Lasagna. It features pappardelle noodles (my absolute favorite pasta) with a combination of meats in the sauce and served in a deconstructed fashion. Sounds great, right? There weren't enough noodles and the overall taste was way too salty. We do plan to hit it again and order differently.

We really enjoy going to Osteria Mattone. This is one of the first places that we take guests from out of town or other parts of Atlanta to showcase the beauty and diversity of Old Roswell. This time we were not pleased with the meals. Our guests ordered the veal and it was very tough. One of our guests literally could not digest his meal. Ryan was very kind and recognized the problem and offered to replace it with another dish. By that time it was too late. It is still a wonderful restaurant and has all the makings of a Buckhead contender. Hopefull this was a one time time bad experience.
