A word from Osteria Langhe
A warm, inviting neighborhood spot that celebrates the traditions of Italy’s Piemonte region. Chef Cameron Grant"s menu offers locally-sourced, seasonal and sustainable dishes that reflect his Italian training. The moderately priced wine list offers an array of the best offerings of the regions and features 70 wines priced between $32 and $90 a bottle. A few select wines, including French Champagne, rise to $135 a bottle. A great craft cocktail list featuring locally made as well as Italian spirits and a few Italian beers round out the offerings.

Monday's are reserved for special events, such as all you can eat tajarin with meat ragú, grigliata (platters of grilled meats), and winemaker dinners. The simple, comfortable, rustic room features a mural of the Italian countryside transporting diners to the hilly, vineyards of Piemonte. Al fresco dining at the sidewalk patio is a charming option.

We have been here several times, and the food never disappoints. We have enjoyed the grilled octopus, pannino aperto, and I am in love with the plin, little pillows of cheesy goodness. Yum! We will definitely return.

Food was excellent. The only complaint we had was that the service became spotty as the evening progressed (ex: we asked for the check when we ordered dessert because we didn't think that we'd see the waiter again). Also, if you want conversation-friendly, go early. It becomes VERY loud.

I went here one chilly late fall evening with my husband and neighbor and we were impressed by this entrant into the burgeoning restaurant scene in Logan Square. Osteria Langhe's approach to Italian might surprise those used to the overflowing bowls of pasta found at many Italian restaurants. From the delicately prepared rock shrimp and pesto risotto to the perfectly seared and seasoned duck breast, dishes were thoughtfully presented and most importantly delicious. The three of us split three appetizers (risotto, arugula salad, and brussels sprouts) and each had an entree (scallops, steak, and duck) and a desert (two affogatos and a lime cake) and we all felt satisfied without feeling overstuffed or bloated. The service was warm and knowledgeable and non-intrusive, leaving us linger and enjoy the experience rather than rushing us out.

I love this place - Piemontese cooking is perfect for cold winter nights - coniglio (rabbit) hit the spot. But having been here in the summer sipping wine and eating plin on the patio, it's perfect too. I'll just have to keep coming back.

This was our second meal here, and I have to say that the food was not quite as good as it was the first time. I started with the octopus and pork belly dish, and while the pork belly was really good, the octopus was overcooked, so they sort of negated each other. There were only a few tables full, so the noise level was moderate--much better than when the place is full and you have to shout to be heard. The waiter was lovely and attentive. Overall, a perfectly OK meal, perhaps just an off night for the place, I would definitely go back and give them another shot.

This amazing little gem of a restaurant is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Beautiful, simple design of the interior allows you to focus on your date and the glorious dishes coming to your table. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable about the wine/food offerings and Piedmonte region from which the menu originates. The food and flavors were exquisite and perfectly balanced. The antipasti and primi courses were perfect for sharing between two people and the main dishes were lovely. The tortelloni was to die for and the steak was cooked to perfection. For antipasti, the octopus is a must try. Desserts were perfect for sharing and I recommend the cheesecake. We can't wait to take friends/family to this little gem!

We came to Osteria Langhe to celebrate a friend's birthday and had the most delicious Piedmont Italian food. Four of us split apps, secondi, and primi to taste a wide variety of dishes, ALL very flavorful and unique, including: Brussels sprouts and sausage, rich cheese filled ravioli, linguine with ragu, risotto with filet on top, duck breast with foie gras, and the steak special topped with a fried egg and freshly shaved truffles. Decadent and delicious. Highly recommend it!

All the dishes were well composed, and cooked perfectly. Their daily specials are creative and thoughtful, adding an extra incentive to drop in on a whim to see what little extra they've come up with for that day. Perfect neighborhood gem for some down to earth, great food, at a fair price. Also worth mentioning is their great wine list, while I won't say I know everything there is to know, you can see that it's carefully selected and representative of the Italian experience they are trying to bring to the neighborhood. Aldo the owner is always available to answer any of your questions and have a nice conversation. Be sure to say hi.

We arrived as scheduled & told we may have to wait for 15 minutes but were actually seated in minutes. The seating area is smaller than pictured but we had a table away from the main wall which was nice. It would be good if there were sound tiles in the ceiling because it was very noisy & we felt we had to raise our voices to be heard. Late seating helped because guests started to leave soon after & it became manageable. However the quality of food and wine made up for it. The Carne Cruda, Fonduta, Cavolini, Tajarin, Coniglio and Anatra did not disappoint & were cooked to perfection. The wines were great & there was a good selection. Desserts were just so-so. The one with chocolate, gelato & biscuit was rather dry.

I was eager to try your restaurant because it was recommended by a local. I took my sister to celebrate her birthday and made sure I told the hostess and waitress of our special occasion. We arrived 15 minutes early to have a drink at the bar and was told by the hostess we needed to be seated at our reserved time. We requested a vodka and cranberry from the waiter and he responded he did not have cranberry. Then we requested a certain wine and he said he didn't carry that wine. All disappointing. When we were seated, we ordered our meal which was average considering the hefty price of the dishes. We did not order dessert but hoped our waitress would remember the special occasion, however, she didn't.

We were four people dining--two excellent cooks. Presentation was artistic, but food was overly salted and mostly inedible. Grilled N.Y. strip was served at room temperature, but it didn't matter because it was too salty to eat. On a scale of 1-10, with ten being the best, I would rate this restaurant between 2-3. Thankfully there was a Tastee-Freeze across the street where we were able to fill up on something so we did not go home hungry. Portions were very small, but I was aware of this from previous reviews, so we ordered many dishes. Out of approximately ten dishes ordered, two were good--the Plin--and Panino Aperto. I would say we sampled a pretty fair amount from a limited menu. And no I would not return and not recommend it.

On top of an appealingly creative menu, pepper in everything, unbearable noise, and a waitress who had an uncanny need to explain most of the menu without exploring whether her guests were already knowledgable. Got annoying. They're working on the noise problem. They should leave the pepper choice to their guests.

That vegetarian entree is truly a hidden gem. Our server recommended it so we went for it and it was one of the best dishes we had that night. I would also not pass up the risotto and Plin. Such a great experience. I'm a very adventurous foodie, whereas my boyfriend likes different variations of Italian, American and Mexican. This was a compromise - Italian with foodie flare. He was skeptical, I had read about it in Chicago Mag and was dying to try, so we went for a mid-week date night. Ordered Polipo, Cavolini, Plin and Coniglio - all to share. We were blown away. My personal favorite was the Plin (heavenly, tangy parmesan filled pasta pockets), his was the Coniglio (perfectly cooked rabbit with potato). Only complaint would be that the wait staff hovers, which made us feel a little rushed even in a near empty restaurant - I don't need the plates cleared immediately upon finishing or my water refilled every time I take a sip.
