Diner Reviews
  • "The short rib ravioli was exceptional, as was the bucatini carbonara. The food was exceptional served in a hipster kind of environment. The meal was complimented with a very nice Barolo that didn't break the bank. Great restaurant. Was going to go to osteria Mozza but they were booked. The food was superior to theirs. Great find. Was concerned about the neighborhood but the restaurant filled up and felt like it was the right choice. I came over from Pasadena. We have great restaurants there and you guys definitely did not disappoint "

  • "We decided last minute to visit Osteria La Buca last minute mid-week for dinner. We have been here a few times and each time the food has been spectacular. The service is great and friendly and was very accommodating to me, my wife, and toddler son. It was just a great night thanks to the food, the ambience, and just how friendly everyone was. We love this restaurant and cannot wait to go back."

  • "You can tell the pasta was made fresh just hours before it's served. Staff is knowledgable and doesn't hover, but is always there when you want them. Great vibe and valet is only 5$ if you need it."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The Italian Prosecco by the glass was really good! Highly recommend the brussels sprouts, squash blossoms and caramel desert."

  • "The portions were ridiculously small. The bread serve for a table of four was smaller that a D battery. The amount of the gnocchi was pathetic. The waitress showed no interest in our table. Drinks were left empty. Just not impressed especially for th eprice."

  • "Great food! Their cocktails were ... meh. The waitress seemed a little overwhelmed but was still polite and professional. Total came out to ~ $70 for 2 people (including tip). I'd go again but maybe during the week."

  • "The food and the service was great! It wasn't too crowded our loud in there. We had three starters: pork meatballs, calamari, and the ricotta crochettes. The ricotta crochettes were such a nice surprise, drizzled with a little honey and rosemary. The meatballs were huge and the romesco sauce was so flavorful. I would definitely order these three appetizers again. One person ordered the chicken parm with a side of spaghetti and they really enjoyed it. I had the rigatoni with braised lamb. My pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce with the pickled peppers was so balanced and amazing. Unfortunately, I had eaten too much from the starters I couldn't eat as much of my entree as I would have liked. I would definitely go back! I loved it!"

  • "Enjoyed our experience here. Service was excellent. The food was mostly on target. We especially enjoyed the steak tartare and brussels sprouts appetizers. Ricotta croquettes were sweet and I would not order them again. Seafood Risotto was great, pizzas a little lacking. Desserts were excellent."

  • "The good: The Brussel sprouts, ravioli and molten chocolate cake were all delicious, the drinks were great, the place was well lit and very tastefully decorated. Reservation Table was ready to go when we arrived on a very busy Valentines Day! an appetizer, 2 main courses, dessert and 2 rounds of drinks only set me back $130.. Not Bad The bad : Carbanera pasta was salty, it took a pretty long to get drinks at the table, it was really cold upstairs and the music was turned up a little loud. I would go back, but not in my LA top 10.."

  • "On the advice of a friend in-the-know, we booked a large party at Osteria La Buca. The hosts couldn't have been more charming or accommodating. We were seated in their private dining room upstairs and were treated to a fabulous cavalcade of dishes. Our two (somewhat tricky) vegetarian guests were staggered by the selection on offer. Everything was handled with meticulous care. I have to say that this was one of the most memorable birthdays I've ever had. Thank you to everyone at La Osteria. I look forward to the next time. I promise you that I won't be waiting until the next birthday rolls around either!"

  • "We were in the mood for modern Italian and some good cocktails... Osteria La Buca delivered. We started with well-executed mixology-style cocktails, which our server recommended. Apps were eclectic and delicious, and the ideal portion size. Homemade pasta with a rich bolognese finished off the best Italian meal I've had in LA in 2 years. We even noticed the music was right on with the right energy and funkiness. I highly recommend this spot, your date will love it!"

  • "Osteria La Buca is a great neighborhood restaurant. The food , service and ambiance outstanding. It's a very personable place, the owner even took the time to come by our table. I was there with 3 girlfriends to celebrate a Birthday, but I think it would also make a date spot. We ordered the pork meatballs, brussels sprouts & cheese croquettes for starters and squash ravioli, chicken parmigiana. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable, food is great. A win-win! I would definitely go back. I also noticed on the website that Monday nights they have a special called "pitchers & pies". Buy a pitcher of beer & get a classic pizza pie for $5. Sounds like a fun evening!"

  • "We have been dining at Osteria la Buca for about 3 years now. It's truly become our neighborhood hangout and we enjoy ourselves at every meal. I highly recommend the Short Rib Ravioli, the Carbonara, Guss's steak and one of my favorite drinks The Fletch. The service is always stellar, especially Guillermo. Perfect date spot and a great place to dine with a large group."

  • "I was visiting from Canada. So I was doing research to find a good place to eat pizza. This place has lots of reviews and seems to be a popular place. But the pizza wasn't as good as I expected. The crust at some part of the edge was very thick. I found the tiramisu to be too sweet for my liking. It also does not have enough expresso taste although the texture is good. The service is good and efficient and the restaurant is very nice."

The Ricotta Croquettes, Brussel Sprouts and Pizza were to die for. Everything was simply great. We both said that if was our last meal , we would leave this earth with huge smile on our face. Very cool setting with an urban feel... If you want a Great restaurant to try, then go to LA BUCCA."

  • "the restaurant sets a nice ambiance for people looking to have a romantic dinner with your significant other or a cozy dinner with friends. i had my birthday dinner with group of friends last year as well. they don't have any special food to rave about. but it's decent as well as their service. so you leave with a nice feeling of good dinner."

  • "Super friendly staff, especially the hostess who went to great pains to seat my friend and me, even though he changed his mind 10 times, she was graceful, accomodating and funny! I had a delicious Negroni, one of the best I've had. Excellent wine list, pizza and pasta were great. Beautiful atmosphere made for a great night of conversation with an old friend. I will go back anytime I can."

  • "This place is really nice for a really sketchy neighborhood (in my opinion). Other than that, there's only one word I can use to describe this place: Yummy! We had the brussel sprouts, which I thought were good but they're actually better as left overs hahaha I had the short rib ravioli which was to DIE for. It's a small plate but let's be honest, we live in LA, you don't need to be eating all that. Besides, you want to save room for dessert! My boyfriend had the nero spaghetti. I didn't try it because I'm not a fan of seafood. He is and he liked it. We then ordered a tiramisu for dessert and I was quite satisfied. It was a fairly large slice so it was a nice size to share. Overall, I'm looking forward to going again :)"

  • "We just moved to the area and Osteria La Buca is a neighborhood gem. Great food and even better service. The Brussels sprouts appetizer is a must. The portions are perfect size and priced well. If you must pick an Osteria in the neighborhood, this is by far my choice for overall excellence. Will be back for the Sunday half off wine list!"

  • "Pasta and pizzas were fantastic and our server was great. We sat upstairs, which was "semi-open ceiling" and had a nice fireplace. The only negative is that their calamari is boring"
