A word from Osteria del Principe
Principe di San Daniele, the Italian Prosciutto and Deli Specialty Company, with its partners, is proud to announce the opening of its first flagship store in Manhattan- Osteria del Principe.

The true experience of the Italian “Osteria” (Italian for informal simple restaurant with a big counter with great food and wines at a reasonable cost) where Italians meet for lunch of after work in a warm, sociable atmosphere to taste a fresh pasta, a gourmet salad or a mouthwatering plate of authentic Italian deli meats and cheeses pairing with a perfect glass of wine is now open in the heart of Manhattan.Continued

  • "great food, service was fine, portions are on heavy side so do not over order. nice quiet space with great food."

  • "Great place to go to eat in the summer as the incredible saltiness of the food is sure to replace any that you might be missing from the summer heat."

  • "A great family Italian place that is as REAL as it gets. If you want authentic Italian, this is the place for you....and the prices are very reasonable."

  • "I've been here before and came back for the Gnocchi but this time decided to try the Prosciutto & Buratta appetizer and the Mille Foglia for dessert. Wow!! The prosciutto and cheese were really great and the Mille Foglia was freshly made and served warm with strawberries and mascarpone. So light and delicious. I'll always have the chicken scallopini as it's amazing and light and the gnocchi as it's home made and always fresh. I love this place and will return again and again."

  • "We had dinner at Osteria del Principe and are glad we did! The prosciutto and burrata platter was a yummy dish to share. Everything we ordered was spot-on, from the spaghetti carbonara to the salmon. The service was very attentive and non-intrusive.The only thing we found a little irritating was the music, the first half of our stay they were playing outdated pop music.I think Italian music would be much more suitable."

  • "The music was incredibly loud for such a small venue. It's a great spot and probably fun for large groups, but I was having dinner with a colleague and we were yelling over the music. "

  • "I live around the corner from Osteria del Principe and was hoping for a restaurant that I could eat at on a regular basis. It didn't make the cut. What was served was pretty good except the lasagna was really overcooked. However the menu was so limited, like only 6 entrees, that I won't return."

  • "A random find, no expectations, just guessed at a restaurant and it turned out amazing. Great food, great wine, great space. Thank you."

  • "Excellent service. Definitely, a nice option from Eataly. "

  • "Upon my first visit to the restaurant, I was happy to note that while some of the dishes were unimaginative, the quality of the ingredients and neat preparation more than made up for my familiarity with the cuisine. The wait staff were friendly and accommodating, the dishes were served hot and expediatly, and I will be making a return trip! This is a great find next to Madison Square Park. Try the prosciutto; del Principe cultivates and imports their own signature cuts."

  • "Great food, good service and nice décor! Besides the great prosciutto, the design of the restaurant is very pleasant."

  • "We arrived at 7 on a rainy Friday and were concerned that there was only one other table taken. By the time we left around 9/9:30 the dining room had filled in nicely, and there was a good buzz. The food was great and the service fantastic. I will definitely be back."

  • "Caesar salad, risotto with Prosciutto, arugula & Parmesan, lasagne Bolognese, tiramisu & expresso---everything was outstanding; perfectly prepared, good flavors."

  • "Good Italian food positioned above the low-end pizza/pasta fare of your neighborhood resto but below high-end cuisine. Moderate prices. The decor is rather spare, which would matter less if it had more customers - which it deserves."

  • "Food was amazing. The manager and staff were awesome, they made sure we were taken care of the whole night. Would definitely come back!"

  • "A welcome addition to the neighborhood. As much as I like Eataly, if you're looking for a smaller, quieter and a true Italian dinner, go to Principe. We had amazing prosciutto to start, followed by excellent pasta. Wait staff were great, as was the wine list. High recommend!!"

  • "They must do a bustling lunch business, because on a rainy Friday night the place was nearly empty. There is a nice contemporary vibe to the place, and our waiter was excellent. They seem to specialize in vaious cured ham dishes, but we were swayed by a "white truffle" special pasta. My friend and I split the $45 dish after we are assured the truffle was from Italy, not China. The fresh-made paste was quite good, but the shavings of truffle had almost no taste at all. Very disappointing. Our main dishes were better, but if I go again I would stick to one of the prosciutto options. Finally, I let the waiter chose my white wine to go with the pasta; he brought a Gavi that was outstanding."

  • "Came with a group. Multiple dishes were either late or incorrect. The food that did arrive was quite good, however."

  • "Do you know italian cooking? Do you know the city of Trieste? Then you should definately try this one out for size. Someone once said 'mom's cooking is the best in the world', for me this comes terribly close. I love it. This my my new favourite italian restaurant in manhattan. Cant wait for their liquor license to come throught, they just open so expect new items to be added to the menu. I heard someone talk about 'prosiutto in crosta' and 'gnocchi di susino' next: yumm!"

  • "This was our second time and the food and service were wonderful. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. The fresh pasta is perfect. Everything was fresh and delicious, prepared with love and care. If you want authentic Italian food this is the place."

  • "It was 9:30pm. The restaurant I wanted to go to was closing, but Magia Osteria was open. There was not a lot of people, but it looked inviting. I am glad I gave it a try. I love prosciutto and salami, and this is the place for it. Lots of it, aged 14 to 20 months. It is served attractively on a wooden board, and it is rather inexpensive, especially given the quality (about $4 for a copious serving). I treated myself to 3 different types, followed by a starter and cheese, and I was full. All the while, two tables away, what seemed to be the owner was engaged in an animated discussion with an elderly couple, moving freely from English to Italian, and back. They had wine, and brought out grappa (2 kinds), and had a grand time, like me."

  • "Lovely. And the server recognized me from when I had been there three months ago! She remembered my menu selections. Good service. When I asked for a larger salad than the small salad on the menu, they were happy to comply."

  • "I ordered the soup on the menu (which I had seen online, and which made me decide on this particular restaurant). They only had the specials, not that soup. The broccoli soup that I subsequently ordered was in fact delicious. I then ordered a salad with basil arugula and they brought me a salad iwith one little leaf. When I pointed out the error they apologized and brought me an actual salad with greens (arugula), but I was struck by two issues in one order. My friend's dish arrived exactly as he ordered it and he found it delicious."

  • "Magia has a polished, modern decor. Seating was comfortable along the wall but there's additional dinner seating at the bar and at highboys at the back of the restaurant. There's a great selection on the menu and doesn't feel like too much. Great additional selection of specials. We started with a cured meat and cheese platter, then went into a green salad with fresh lemon vinagrette, topped with salami and finished with an eggplant lasagna dish. All very well done. We'll be back."
