Set in a 120 year old historical mansion, Ganzi offers casual italian dinning experience, with focus on quality food, exceptional service and affordability.

Our menu features classic dishes made according to the traditional recipes, with local farmed products and DOP certified ingredients imported straight from Italy. In true Osteria fashion, our wine menu is equally authentic and robust; featuring privately imported regional Italian wines which we are proud to offer by the glass. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The service was absolutely terrible. Was done meal before the pepper we requested was brought. Also had to send back dirty cutlery twice."

  • "I like the outside view of the entire building. A little bit different inside from what I imagined it would be. Overall a good experience. Just hope the waitress can truly smile a bit more."

  • "It's fine but not spectacular. The service was top-notch and so friendly. Our pizzas were bland but the crust was good. The noise level inside was too high to hear across the table."

  • "We arrived on a busy night, had a reservation for a party of 6 that truned into a party of 8, that we were late for, and they were more than willing to accomodate us. We all appreciated their ability to help us out. All of our food was adequate, and some a tad better than that. none of the food was absolutely outstanding, but we all were satisfied, and at a relatively inexpensive price. The entire staff was friendly. It is not elegant dining, but casual, I would definitely go back again."

  • "I took friends from an international meeting (Swiss, NZers, Japanese and German). We had a wonderful time. Love the food. The Italian chef (da Roma) came out to say hello and recommend his fresh ravioli which three of us tried and it was perfect. Service was very good. Lovely view from the patio of a normally quiet, tree lined street. World Pride meant that it gradually became quite noisy and, when I asked if we could move inside for dessert they were very happy to accommodate us. Excellent!"

  • "It was the old Honey Bee site, there is free parking at the back but not mentioned on their website. The patio is spacious and comfortable, great for the summer. Service was good too. Food, however was disappointing. The calamari fritti was frozen pre-breaded kind that you get from a diner/fish & chip joint, with a plain bulk mayo, the crostini was 2 slices of baguet with a strip of procuitto & 1 wedge of fig - cost $7.95. Chicken liver pate was OK and pizza was not as good as the previous establishment. Wine was not cheap for the quality. A great place to sit in the patio over beer and common food, but not for foodies."

  • "The restaurant has potential but our visit was lacking. We arrived fairly early (530) so it was empty. No one greeted us when we entered and it took a while for the sole waiter (who was amazingly friendly and nice) to come by with menus and water. We ordered the fried calamari. Portion size was adequate but there was nothing special about it. The sauces were stage. My husband had the flattened chicken as his main. It was good and he enjoyed it. I had lamb chops app (only 2 chops) and mixed greens salad. I enjoyed both. There is a big patio, which will be nice In better weather. The decor is trendy, esp the bar area. I think if we had a later reso it would have been better but we were there early for a paint nite event "

  • "I bring my friends to Ganzi all the time - it's a beautiful restaurant with great food and service. It's nice that it's right down the street from my apartment. "

  • "It's a more casual and noisy place that what we thought, but food and service are great. Notable is the fact that waiters and bar tenders know their drinks and wine, and not just pretend like in some other Italian places... Can't wait to experience the outdoor dining, seems like a fun place to be in summer (if it ever comes this year)"

  • "Fried olives starter was way too salty - and olives were clearly out of a store jar. Specials were not available and told about it almost 15 minutes after ordering. Desserts were sub par. Cocktails were excellent and looks like they have a great patio, so would give it another chance in the summer."

  • "We enjoyed an excellent dinner here and received terrific service. In an old mansion, the surroundings are opulent, yet relaxed and comfortable. Love the marble table tops too. I look forward to returning with family and friends - often."

  • "The food is sub-par. My fish was over-cooked and my vegetables under-cooked. The server appeared rushed; he rattled off the specials at such a fast pace I had to ask him to repeat himself. He also steered us to a more expensive wine than we had initially ordered. The very open dining rooms mean that it is impossible to escape the noise of a rowdy crowd alongside you. I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends and have no intention to revisit it."

  • "This restaurant was amazing. We were impressed with the service, the friendliness of the staff, the food and how accommodating everyone was and helpful because we were running a little late for a ballet. It was just a great experience. It was quite noisy when we were there and trying to get into the seats was very difficult as the restaurant was very crowded (table wise and people wise) but overall it was a great experience."

  • "This restaurant has a great ambience. It is a mansion converted to a restaurant with great artwork and character. The service was a bit slow but it is understandable as it was Valentine's day dinner and the place was packed. That night they had a pre-fixe menu but we opted to eat from there regular menu and what a disappointment that was. I had confirmed before we went if we had to have the prix fixe menu that night and I confirmed that we had the choice. If they can't handle the regular menu on such a busy night, they shouldn't offer it Though the staff is friendly, the food was a big disappointment. My food tasted funny and my wife's food was very bland. Neither of us ate our food even though we were starving."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant on New Years for their set menu. The food is pretty average, not great by all means. Maybe it's just their set menu, but the food taste the same as any other Italian restaurant you would find in Toronto. For Toronto, this kind of offering just can't compete. However service was great and ambiance was excellent. The restaurant seems to be remodeled from an old mansion."

  • "Had dinner here with a couple of friends and was pleasantly surprised by this fairly new addition to the neighbourhood. We had an early dinner, so it wasn't too busy, and the service was fantastic. Not once did I have to ask for my water to be refilled, and our server was so knowledgeable about the food, right down to the history behind one of the cheeses they were using in the sauce! The dishes we had (all pastas) were rich and bursting with flavour, exactly what I want in my Italian food. Loved the tiramisu in the mason jar - perfectly done, with a casual flair. Loved that the chef came out to check on us too. I'd been to this converted Victorian mansion previously, and they have continued to preserve the gorgeousness of the interior."

  • "Lovely setting with the friendliest service I have seen in a long time.the chef visited and greeted all tables with a smile. Sadly the food was only mediocre, not bad, but not on par with similar restaurants at the same price level."

  • "It was a little pricey for what it was, and cold on a January day. However, I will say the ambience was cozy and cute, and I bet it's even better in the summer when the patio's open."

  • "From the warm welcome you receive upon arrival, to the amazing decor, fantastic service and fabulous food, this place has it all."

  • "We picked Osteria for a joint anniversary with good friends. And we were utterly satisfied with the overall experience. The wait staff were prompt and extremely knowledgeable not to mention friendly. The menu was not pretensions which made for easy picking of choices for the group. Defiantly several re-visits are order for us."

  • "They ran out of fillet steak and served another cut instead. My guest found it was over charred and bitter crust on outside. They prepared another but by then the rest of our group had finished. Their apps were pricey for what you got. $28 for small pieces of hard cheese and few slices of procuitto and another cold cut. Their caprese was unexciting. Small piece of mozzerello with tomato cut on the diagonal with a sprinkle of balsamic was unexciting and tasteless. The pizza was ok. Our dinners with coffees and drinks came to $65 pp. Expensive for the quality of food you get. Service was excellent though. Very attentive. If only kitchen could be the same."

  • "The food was, just lacking. It was a huge cavernous space with basically no other patrons. The carpaccio was missing lemon or balsamic, it definitely needed acid. My main was a chicken that had sauce on it. The flavour was okay, but the texture was slimy."

  • "From the moment you're greeted in the foyer of this beautiful mansion, the service is excellent . Attentive but never intrusive. The rooms have the original features, panelling , carved ceilings. The food is authentic Italian food with the chef coming from Rome. The menu is just large enough with something for everyone. The appetizers are generous. ( try the eggplant parmesan ) . Excellent wine list . During your meal your server makes sure you are satisfied . The chef often makes rounds visiting the guests. When you leave you are given a farewell ( often the host will open the door for you) . Did I mention that they have a private parking lot !"

  • "The restoration has been beautifully done in this huge mansion. The outdoor patio is also really very nice, even if you are on Jarvis St. The food, frankly, was good but underwhelming. For another Italian resto to open in Toronto you need to at least exceed the others and offer a unique niche. This one does not. Ramp up the food chef and you will have a great resto!"

  • "overpriced cocktail menu, food you can get at any other Italian Joint.. Part of the patio faces a not so nice looking building where a cop car drives by every 3o minutes.. no music on the patio.. pathetic service where it took the server 30 minutes to get cultery and took the salad when we weren't even done with it.. save your money.. go somewhere else"

  • "We were a group of 5 and we had a great time. The food was delicious. Loved the olives and arancini, absolutely amazing. The service was wonderful - very attentive. Glad we went and that the weather held out so we could enjoy the patio."

  • "Three of us enjoyed well-proportioned thin crust pizzas, tasty cocktails, Italian beer and wine, while a fourth chose Osteria's restrained version of Eggs Benedict. Several wines available by the glass. Outstanding ratio of staff: guests. Our waiter, Federico, was charming and attentive, readily able to suggest wine pairings, and knowledgeable about the menu. The hostess took the time to answer my questions about the building's history, and to provide catering options (a dining room on the main floor with fireplace and chandeliers can be closed off with pocket doors for a private party). Several seating options, incl. a little nook suitable for two. Manager was onsite and immediately available. An impressive beginning for this restaurant!"

  • "Service was sloppy and very amateurish. Our waiter didn't know how to properly open a bottle of wine and after much effort proceeded to just fill all our wine glasses at once, with no chance to taste the mediocre wine. They wanted $5 for a basket of bread, which by the way never made it to our table. Food was ok at best. Inside atmosphere appeared ok, but we sat outside and they have done nothing to this space since its pervious owners...so very blah. Sadly, I give this restaurant till the end of the summer. So disappointing, as I was really looking forward to a good neighbourhood alternative. Never going back!"

  • "Service was timely and very good. We asked for grappa, which wasn't actually on the menu, but our waiter looked after us and we got a very good quality one. However, the cocktails were a bit overpriced. We had the wood board, which was varied and excellent. Pizza was crisp and fettucine perfect."

  • "The food here was well prepared but underseasoned. The wait staff are friendly and helpful, but inexperienced. With a bit of time this could be a great place. The patio area is large and beautiful."

  • "Hardly qualified as a dining experience given that there was very little dining to be had. The ice bucket for our wine did not arrive until two hours later when we were getting ready to leave. The appetizers took an hour to get to the table and the crostini tasted like sawdust at best. An hour on, the mains arrived. Pizza order was incorrect and the pasta tasted like microwaved food. Both were sent back. The steak was ordered medium rare and came well done. The restaurant was not particularly busy. No one seemed to be bothered to serve us and we left hungry at 10.45pm having paid $100. With so many wonderful dining options in Toronto, this one really needs to go out of business to be replaced by people who actually know what they're doing."

  • "Incredibly attentive staff, from calling me to confirm the booking where they offered us a specialty dessert platter for our dinner to recommendations at the table; the staff here did everything they could to make you feel welcomed and attended."

  • "This restaurant just opened a few weeks ago and it shows. Servers didn't know the menu, were absent when needed but overbearing to close up the bill. Felt like we were being kicked out at 11pm when the staff turned off the music. Food was fine but not remarkable. We enjoyed the charcuterie board but the lamb chops were over cooked and arrived charred, the chicken parm special was just okay and served with the blandest rigatoni and the mushroom pizza was forgettable. Would skip this one or keep expectations low. Can't imagine this restaurant will remain open for much longer."

  • "Maybe they need more time to get things sorted. But food ranged from OK to poor and service seemed very unprofessional."
