Osteria translated in Italian literally means "a place where the owner hosts his guests." At Osteria Cucina Rustica we follow in that tradition. Life long friends Steven Botta and Angelo Bongiovanni have collaborated to design and recreate an authentic Osteria. A warm atmosphere along with impeccable service and family recipes make for an unparalleled dining experience.
We begin with the freshest ingredients of the highest quality all prepared to order using family recipes passed down from generation to generation. The astronomic experience begins with the hospitality from the moment you walk through the iron forged doors. Next is the food where the love is present in each dish. The house made pasta to the freshest seafood to the dry aged steaks and our unique deserts made daily by our pastry chef make our uniqueness discernible.

  • "Very disappointed. Made a reservation week before. When we got there they couldn't find our reservation for 10 min. Host didn't even know how to look it up reservation made through open table. After finding reservation made us wait at bar for 20 min because kitchen was busy. After getting table waited another 25 min before we could order. Went there for our anniversary. Food was ok, no flavor. Mixed up our order & server only said oh my bad - rude. It was Monday not even a weekend."

  • "Once you get past the NJ Housewife's and the Wanna-be's at the bar, it's a descent Italian restaurant in a parking lot. Nice décor, attentive service and above average prices for Marlboro. Our party of 4 enjoyed our meal and wine, although the grilled octopus App w only 2 legs and lump of mashed potatoes in the center of the plate was not worth it. The sound levels in the dining area, where everyone needs to be heard by shouting, is deafening !"

We order steak for two and it was excellent as they grilled it to medium well done with pink color in the middle and tender to chew them. The steak sauce added to the flavor. The appetizers that we ordered were good also."

The food was just ok, nothing special and we have had the same kinds of entrees at other places and they were much better. My bronzini was dry and the lentils along with it cooked have been cooked a little longer. My friends pasta with clams was also dry. We were 4 people but our table setting had only one bread plate and we had to ask for more as the waiter didn't even notice my friend and I were sharing a plate. Bus boys delivered our appetizers and not one of us got the right one, same thing happened with the entrees. I would suggest the waiter oversee his staff when setting down the plates."

  • "We had our daughter's college graduation dinner here with a group of 12 people, and it was a wonderful dining experience. All of the appitizer we ordered were delicious, and the main courses were beautifully prepared. The wait staff was very attentive, without being over-bearing, and were very friendly.They even took pictures of our group after dinner. The Italian cheese cake was out of this world. The only complaint for dessert was the chocolate cake, which was rather spongy and dry. The prices are not for the faint of heart, but you don't mind paying the price for food this well prepared."

  • "the fish that my wife had was very good BUT it had too much oil in the sauce for her! I enjoyed the pollo saparello but not enough sausage for a half of chicken! dish was great! the Papadelle with mushrooms and black truffel should have shaved truffel on it,not truffel oil! The fussili in aluminium was excellent. and the monkfish special was great. We will be back many times. Thank you for a wonderful eating experience!"

  • "We had a wonderful experience at Osteria! We are "foodies", admittedly, and a were not at all disappointed, for a change! From the special oysters a la "Michael" and the parma prosciutto wood fired pizza we devoured as appetizers, to the incredible aged tomahawk steak, cooked to perfection and the lamb stuffed veal chop, all food was excellent and prepared perfectly. This restaurant is not for the wallet shy! For the area, it's beyond the casual night out expense! If you are willing to spend on good food, the experience is worth the price. We plan on returning for those "special occasions". Our advice: if you can afford it, do try it..... And request to be seated with Sergio, who's professionalism and humor made good even better!"

Chris our waiter missed the mark on catering to our needs and seemed more interested in his agenda and timeframe ( this was a monday night dinner, not busy at all ). Several times I said to Chris we weren't ready to order and that we were not in a hurry. The final time when he approached he told us, "I'm ready". So, as i said, he missed the mark. Meatball salad was enjoyed by all, the main dishes were more than satisfactory but when my guests made negative comments to me on the way out about the service, afraid I won't return."

  • "From the moment you walk in.... Very inviting - Angelo (owner/host) and our pretty girl hotess welcomed us at the door. Once we sat to review menus - we were greeted with warm soft centered bread with a cripy flacky crust along with 3 wonderful bread spreads including roasted GARLIC in olive oil, zuccini marinated, and a fabulous riccota spread.... Excellent and delicious - I had the homemade pasta!!!! Steven (owner/chef) also made sure to greet all of his tables! Welcoming, Fresh, homemade, and I was very impressed to see authentic dishes that my mom made regularly (that normally you hardly ever see outside of mom's kitchen!). Highly recommend!"

I'm happy to report that I can definitely confirm the food is excellent - but what stood out even more was the exceptional server (Sergio) and wait staff. We never had to ask for a single thing: wine glasses/water were refilled regularly, plates/utensils were turned over quickly and efficiently, and we were constantly checked on throughout the meal. Sergio was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, and was able to offer recommendations without hesitation based on our preferences. The wife had Filet Mignon; I had Grilled Shrimp over Risotto (Gamberoni). Both were top notch. For a Wed night, the place was filled and energetic. We'll be going back!"

  • "This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We knew it was pricey (think NYC prices), and it felt like we were dining in Manhattan. The place was busy and very noisy (you had to really listen hard to have a conversation with others at the table). There was a big focus on service. Lots of staff attending to guests. The food was also top notch. One person had the huge bone-in rib eye and it was served slightly over-cooked. They took it back without hesitation and prepared another one to our liking. We had a birthday in our group, and at the end of the meal they served ice cream with a candle and all sang Happy Bday. I definitely recommend this place, but make sure you go prepared to spend more than any other the place in the area."

  • "We had reservations for 4:45 pm. Ordered our drinks immediately and placed our order. We knew that we wanted the Sunday Sauce. This was our 3rd time there since December. The waiter asked if we wanted our salads 1st and we said yes. Out came the salads @ 4:50 pm. That was fine. We were hungry. After 2 bites of salad...dinner was served @ 4:55 PM. We were shocked! I looked at my watch and knew we were only seated 10 min. Pushed our salad aside. I would never send back my meal :-) Now I know that the dinner was just sitting on the side waiting to be warmed up for someone.inexcusable at any price, especially at $29.00 per person for a pasta dish! One of the other waiters notice...he came over and apologized. It was too late. Our evening meal"

  • "My husband and I went to osteria with another couple for dinner. We all ordered the 35 day aged porterhouse steak which were big and delicious! The only reason I did not give the review an outstanding review was that our waiter was not the greatest. He had no clue what the veggie side dishes were and had to go check. They also did not have the bottle of wine in stock that we wanted to order. Other then that, we love osteria and will definitely be going back again. Food is great...recommend the steak, the bolognese or the sea bass. Biscotti dessert is great too!"

  • "The appetizers were okay. But when the main mealce out it was terrible. I got the pappardelle pasta with mushrooms and truffles and it was so bland. Not only was there no taste but at the bottom of the bowl was liquid like the mushrooms water liquid that was not drained. No taste of truffle. I don't know if the chef was on vacation due to the holidays. I am not going back. The waiter didn't even read us the specials which I noticed he read it to the people next to us. Also they got their food before us even though we got there before them. It was just not at our night at this place."

Ive eaten here 3 times and the food has always been very good but it is pricey so be careful if you're on a budget. Filet Mignon was very good as was the pasta ala Michael but my favorite is the Veal Milanese - you wont have any regrets with that dish imo. Great for a special occasion as well."
