Appreciated being seated even though last person was running late. Ordered an extra appetizer, which we would not have otherwise done. Three out of four dishes were excellent. One dish we didn't like was removed from the bill. (Pasta w/orange mushrooms? Not mine!) Really liked the flat pasta with pork and beef sauce. Would have it again! Dishes came out quickly from the kitchen. Wines by the glass were limited. The only Cabernet was $19.00. I didn't want to spend that much. Server recommended another red, which I enjoyed, for $14. Noise level was a bit too robust. Bar was busy. Service was prompt and professional, although server's attitude was lukewarm. Figured she was tired.

Osteria Coppa is a nice solid restaurant that's in the neighborhood - if you want good pizza, pasta and a delicious salumi or cheese plate-this is your place. I will say that the truffle pasta was delicious, but the porcini mushroom pasta was sort of a miss. Perhaps the mushrooms were left in the wine reduction too long? Not sure, it was still okay, we ate every bit, but it was the disappointment of the evening b/c everything else was delicious- including the duck confit salad. Great for a relaxed girls night out.

A group of six of us got together for dinner here, and were very impressed with the food and the wine list. Great specials, and our server was excellent. We get together every 6 months or so, and usually go somewhere different each time, but everyone agreed that we will come back to Osteria Coppa!

As seems to be the pattern at Osteria Coppa, food was excellent, service was not. Service: we arrived for our reservation promptly at 7pm. The room was busy, but no more than 2/3 full. The hostess said they were waiting for the people at our table to pay their bill. When my wife asked if we could sit at one of the many empty tables, the hostess looked surprised, but agreed to seat us. She may have known that the table where she seated us was next to a larger party, and might impact our service, but she didn't mention it. We then waited 10 min for acknowledgement by our server, and the long waits continued through the meal. The good news is the food was, as usual, very good. We have had this experience before, so no surprise. Be prepared.

We have eaten here several times and have always rated it highly. Tonight was an exception, our server appeared to be new. He was unfamiliar with the wine list, and suggested that I read the descriptions. He also did not feel comfortable describing the specials. He did, however, offer to have the manager help us with the wine, who saved our evening. His description of wines, appetizers, and entrees were extremely helpful. We enjoyed the appetizers of burrata, early girl, tomatoes, and basil, and the oven roasted calamari. The calamari was tasty and tender. My husband had the special tortilloni with burrata, and I enjoyed the scialetelli with eggplant. We shared the salted caramel gelato and the bottle of wine!

House-Cured salumi and barrata with pearl tomatoes was outstanding. Tomatoes tasted like they were just picked which went well with the soft barrata. The olive oil poached halibut on a bed of potato puree, with fresh corn, wax beans and basil pesto. The flavors were perfect together and the beans cooked just right. The Tagliatelle Bolognese, ragu was beef and pork. So good together. Ania brought us each a glass of moscato. We normally don't like moscato because it is too sweet but this was lightly sweet with slight effervescence. "Delish". Finally a scoop of dark chocolate with dark chocolate chips and salted caramel gelato. Really nice finish to our meal. Ania was familiar with the menu and made an excellent wine recommendation.

Osteria Coppa is my favorite San Mateo downtown restaurant. we proudly took a party of 6 there Sunday night for another great experience and the newcomers probably will not return because, although we were seated outside where it WAS quiet so we could visit, the server ignored us for over 15 minutes and one of our guests had to talk to the hostess to get service. Also, one of the same couple's orders was incorrect. Once the correct food came, everyone agreed it was delicious but the experience was definitely not what I had expected.

This is the third time I've gone to Osteria Coppa with my girlfriend. We love it because we can have a really nice Italian dinner out, and bring our dog. We are usually limited with our choices when we bring him with us, so its a nice change of pace. Regardless of the fact that it is dog friendly (outside), the food and service are always great.

Requested outside table. We were sat out on the patio right off of stairs in high traffic area. Staff was setting up for party of 15+. No one else outside and all tables open. Tables are very tiny so not much room when dinner came. Food was outstanding and would be the only reason we would return...not for the service.

First of all the food was good. However, the service was pretty bad. My friends and I went there to celebrate my birthday on a Sunday afternoon. The place was almost empty with only two diners. You would think the service should be good. Boy was I wrong! The waitress were not very nice to us and seemed unhappy for the most of the time. They also charged us $3 per person for the cake fee. I was not happy having to pay the mandatory 20% tips for the service I received.

I used to frequently enjoy Osteria Coppa, but hadn't been for about six months. After my recent lunch visit, I won't be back. Nearly everything was way over-salted (all in my group noted that). Unlike in the past, nothing really stood out, other than the loud and annoying 80's rock music. Most of the dishes we ordered sounded great and had potential but were poorly executed. Service was right out of the Denny's playbook.

As always excellent... Got to the restaurant early for lunch around 11:45 before the lunch crowd hit. My guest was a new staff member who moved from Lund Sweeden. Although she had shellfish allergies and a few specific needs the waitstaff and team made efforts to accomdoate. Food was great, Tina had a great Pizza with grilled onions and goat cheese, I had the Tagliattlie with meat sauce. Great homemaid past and pizza can't beat that for a quick lunch outside the office.

Lucky for me, Osteria Coppa had one of my favorite meals as a special - the pappardelle with rabbit (sometimes pork) ragu. It is fantastic - very similar to what you would get in Italy. The rest of the table also had pasta and pizza - what I always recommend to newcomers. The restaurant was very crowded, so the atmosphere was energetic, but the noise level also enabled you to have a conversation, which was perfect.

Overall, good. Not great. I've always enjoyed coming to Osteria. Maybe it was just an off night for them, me, both, but not as good as it has been in the past. We ordered a couple of pizzas to share, the corn and a sausage pizza the waitress recommended. These style of pizzas are becoming more popular, and I've got to say I've had better. The crust on the corn pizza in particular was a bit soggy. None the less, was a good evening with my husband and friend.

This was our first time to have brunch at Osteria Coppa . The waitperson didn't know the menu. Although the restaurant was not busy the service was very slow. My scrambled eggs were good. My companion ordered pork belly with a poached egg. The egg was over cooked. When the bill came we were over charged for one item. We probably won't go back.

Osteria Coppa is an upscale eatery in the middle of the hot night district in San Mateo, CA. The dishes we had all were served promptly (considering the busy restaurant) and all were delicious takes on pasta, plus a pizza that was different in its components but also very good. The wine we ordered (a Chianti label Sangiovese) was quite good for the price. One sour note: the outside patio is across from a parking garage, from which emanated a constant car alarm. Bummer!

I was excited to try this restaurant, as it has racked up many accolades and glowing reviews. However, we were pretty disappointed. To start, we ordered the crispy squash blossoms - which were good, but $13 for three blossoms? Seemed expensive to me. I ordered the scialiatelli with spicy eggplant, basil and ricotta salata which was the bright spot of the dinner -- the pasta was homemade and the whole dish was delicious. My wife ordered the tagliatelle with bolognese which was actually just dry pasta noodles and chopped meat. No sauce like a traditional bolognese. For an Italian restaurant that supposedly knows pasta, this was embarrassing. In addition, our waitress apologized for the overwhelmed kitchen and the slow service.

Started with DUCK CONFIT SALAD one of my faves, it was delicious warm tender duck over crisp frisee lightly swathed in glistening duck fat - YUM! He ordered the MELON and CALAMARI salad creative and quite good but when the TOMATO SALAD WITH SMOKED TROUT arrived we were thrilled - it was simple and SIMPLY glorious! Next we received AGNOLOTTI with veal and pork tender, savory with so much flavor albeit enrobed in delicate pasta and lightly napped in beautiful sauce. Of course my fave TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE was perfect not heavy with sauce but delicious!

We were checking out San Mateo's First Friday art walk with friends. It was lots of fun but we finished late on B Street and quickly secured a table for four @ 9pm on my Opentable app of course! Osetra Coppa was a happening place and we had a delightful evening. Pizza special with figs was excellent with the Caesar. Loved our appetizers- a melon salad with prosciutto, tasty olives, and a deconstructed caprese salad. The salads were so "fresh." The service was prompt & friendly. Beer list was diverse. I have been here about 4 times because of the lure of 1000 OT Points. I find the ambiance is what it is... The service is normally adequate and the food has thoughts of excitement however is a bit of a let-down to the palate. We had: Meat Balls very tasty; Stuffed Squash Blossoms which were bland except for the fry oil; Pizza which was half-cooked and soaked in the juice of the Mozzarella; Flank steak in a NOT so provocative presentation but tender & tasty; Bolognese which was bland and looked as if they used ground beef; Papardelle with Chicken breast diced into tiny pieces and flavor was also bland. Osteria always excites me when I read their Menu, however I feel their dishes definitely don't carry the description to the palate.
