Have been to this restaurant twice now....with a couple years in between visits. I'm happy to report it's just as good now as it was then. We shared a margherita pizza and each had a salad. Everything was excellent. Waitstaff was great. Loved the complimentary glass of muscato after the meal!!

Lucky for me, Osteria Coppa had one of my favorite meals as a special - the pappardelle with rabbit (sometimes pork) ragu. It is fantastic - very similar to what you would get in Italy. The rest of the table also had pasta and pizza - what I always recommend to newcomers. The restaurant was very crowded, so the atmosphere was energetic, but the noise level also enabled you to have a conversation, which was perfect.

The service was outstanding and our waitress as well as the kitchen were very accommodating when we requested modifications to certain dishes due to the dietary restrictions. The salads were all delicious especially the early girl tomatoes with balsamic vinegar. Our group had a most pleasant time and will be back again soon.

This was our first time to have brunch at Osteria Coppa . The waitperson didn't know the menu. Although the restaurant was not busy the service was very slow. My scrambled eggs were good. My companion ordered pork belly with a poached egg. The egg was over cooked. When the bill came we were over charged for one item. We probably won't go back.

The waitress pushed the special(building up the lobster mushrooms) which was the papperdelli with lobster mushrooms, the pasta was perfection but there was tiny and few mushrooms. Both my girlfriend and I got the same amount. Otherwise very delicious papperdelli.

Osteria Coppa is an upscale eatery in the middle of the hot night district in San Mateo, CA. The dishes we had all were served promptly (considering the busy restaurant) and all were delicious takes on pasta, plus a pizza that was different in its components but also very good. The wine we ordered (a Chianti label Sangiovese) was quite good for the price. One sour note: the outside patio is across from a parking garage, from which emanated a constant car alarm. Bummer!

I was excited to try this restaurant, as it has racked up many accolades and glowing reviews. However, we were pretty disappointed. To start, we ordered the crispy squash blossoms - which were good, but $13 for three blossoms? Seemed expensive to me. I ordered the scialiatelli with spicy eggplant, basil and ricotta salata which was the bright spot of the dinner -- the pasta was homemade and the whole dish was delicious. My wife ordered the tagliatelle with bolognese which was actually just dry pasta noodles and chopped meat. No sauce like a traditional bolognese. For an Italian restaurant that supposedly knows pasta, this was embarrassing. In addition, our waitress apologized for the overwhelmed kitchen and the slow service.

the food was good and service was also good. my only problem was, with most of the restaurant empty, especially all the tables behind us, the hostess seated a group behind us with children who chatted away. since the whole side of the room was empty, i think they could have separated the tables for more peace and quiet.

My husband took me for my birthday dinner and really enjoyed it- again! Met with warmth at the door and GM Chris so welcoming! Ruby our server so fun with crisp food delivery and visits. Started with DUCK CONFIT SALAD one of my faves, it was delicious warm tender duck over crisp frisee lightly swathed in glistening duck fat - YUM! He ordered the MELON and CALAMARI salad creative and quite good but when the TOMATO SALAD WITH SMOKED TROUT arrived we were thrilled - it was simple and SIMPLY glorious! Next we received AGNOLOTTI with veal and pork tender, savory with so much flavor albeit enrobed in delicate pasta and lightly napped in beautiful sauce. Of course my fave TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE was perfect not heavy with sauce but delicious!

We were checking out San Mateo's First Friday art walk with friends. It was lots of fun but we finished late on B Street and quickly secured a table for four @ 9pm on my Opentable app of course! Osetra Coppa was a happening place and we had a delightful evening. Pizza special with figs was excellent with the Caesar. Loved our appetizers- a melon salad with prosciutto, tasty olives, and a deconstructed caprese salad. The salads were so "fresh." The service was prompt & friendly. Beer list was diverse. Our friends & I look forward to our next visit.

I have been here about 4 times because of the lure of 1000 OT Points. I find the ambiance is what it is... The service is normally adequate and the food has thoughts of excitement however is a bit of a let-down to the palate. We had: Meat Balls very tasty; Stuffed Squash Blossoms which were bland except for the fry oil; Pizza which was half-cooked and soaked in the juice of the Mozzarella; Flank steak in a NOT so provocative presentation but tender & tasty; Bolognese which was bland and looked as if they used ground beef; Papardelle with Chicken breast diced into tiny pieces and flavor was also bland. Osteria always excites me when I read their Menu, however I feel their dishes definitely don't carry the description to the palate.

We made reservations for a birthday dinner for a colleague. There were 5 of us in total. We had the following -- -Pork Sausage, speck, Crimini Mushrooms pizza (delicious! my favorite pizza here so far!) -White Corn pizza (okay/good. i was not impressed by this pizza but it's still good.) -Bacon, Marble Pototoes, Westcome Cheddar pizza (delicious! had this for brunch before and it's great.) -Tagliatelle Bolognese (delicous! i've ordered this before and it's always good.) -Conchiglioni (first time ordering this dish and I enjoyed it!) -We ordered a dessert which was new that I haven't tried before. I believe it started with the letter "Z". It was a little strange. Had a weird colored sauce on it that did not look appealing! Choc cake is good!

Excellent menu, with tons of gluten-free options, which is always so hard for those of us with Wheat allergies :-) Love this place. The salami /meat platter was so good, as was the gluten free pizza and skirt steak! Even some wonderful summer non-alcoholic fancy drinks, which were really good! Both my mother and I who have to eat gluten-free said our stomachs never felt so good after a dinner out! Just all around wholesome good food options made with only the natural/good stuff... and you can feel it! I will definitely be back again very soon. Service was great, excellent waiter recommendations, fair prices, and right on restaurant row in downtown San Mateo. The coffee chip gelato was awesome too!

I've eaten here several times. I love the food, the the service has always been painfully slow. This most recent time, the service was slow and my entree came 3 min after my salad came. I literally had to HOLD my salad plate while I ate it and wait to give it to a server before I could eat my entree! The staff has always been very nice, but they are not trained to think about the customer needs.

Yet another disappointing experience in the bay area. We were one of only 4-5 tables seated in the restaurant. The waitress was not helpful, not attentive, condescending, and just this side of rude. The food was ok. I ordered squash blossoms and got 4 barely bite sized, greasy "blossoms". The chicken was dry but i could eat it. My wife thought the food was, well, ok at best and the service was aweful. She will not go back based on service alone. For two appetizers that were more the size of a canape or an amuse bouche, and entrees barely large enough to call an entree with tax and tip it ran us $85. I'm not above paying well for good food and service. This was neither. I will not return.

Order wine or beer here. We ordered pre-dinner cocktails, ones not on the menu (old-fashioneds....not some obscure thing) and they were highly watered down, flavorless. However, the server was really awesome about it. She was great. We didn't make a fuss, and just orerderd beer. The food was excellent. Very good pizza, and pappardelle cooked perfectly.I think to make up for the bad cocktail, they comped us 2 moscatos after dinner. Very nice. The only other thing was, we had great table by the window, but for some reason there was a a small table right behind us with a sliverware tray on it, and servers kept coming up to replenish tables. It was super distracting. However, we will be back for the food. And wine and beer. :-)

When a customer asks for something like minced garlic, the server shouldn't say "i doubt it" it was a small indicator on how the service was going to be. Not only was the server not aware what was on the menu she never tasted it so she couldn't tell us what the herb tasted like. We got more service from the guy serving water. She disappeared for 20 plus minutes. it took too long between the antipasto and dinner, we were going to get the manager, then our food came out.

Let's face it, there just aren't that many great choices in San Mateo. Osteria Coppa was a staple but the service has definitely fallen off the mark. We went to the bar while we waited for our table to be ready, and it took several minutes for the server to put dinner menus in front of us. Dinner menus that do not contain any drink options. Getting her attention to get cocktail menus was the next challenge, and it was not even busy. Our drinks took forever (and was there any alcohol in them?), which we ended up taking to the table without having a sip. Lame. Dinner service not much better - had to ask for wine, for parm (hello, it's an Italian restaurant), etc. The food was good, but the service was a meal ruiner.
