The bass was grilled to a perfect crispness on the outside and juicy, flaky, and tender inside. It came over mixed grains and greens, and was so flavorfully seasoned. It is challenging to find this quality of food in Wilmington, NC and we love this restaurant. The bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and we can use as much olive oil, salt and pepper as we desire. The fontina fig bruschette was exquisite, too! It was so delicious, we got takeout the next day. My sister had the mushroom risotto and I had the margherita pizza that were fabulous. We had the hearts of romaine salad and the spinach, pear, walnut salad. I would definitely recommend if going back to Wilmington! The food is always delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was a little half-hearted and we were promised fresh bread which did not appear until we asked for a second time. The only negative was the location of our table - I had a nice view into the kitchen (Table 73) This table should not be used unless an absolute emergency. I have experienced bad seatings at other restaurants when I book through Open Table and hope this is not so as I love Open Table. What started so promisingly with a wonderful antipasto selection (Note: the mushroom and truffle oil bruschetta is a must-order item, plus the white bean spread is not far behind) quickly too a nose dive with the primi dishes.
The al pesto pasta proved mislabeled; it should have been billed as an alfredo. The predominant color was white with tiny specks of green (pesto) and red (sun dried tomatoes). It was barely edible.
Fortunately my daughter ordered the pasta with meatballs and Italian sausages in a tomato-based sauce. It based the edibility test. However, the meatball lacked flavor and the sauce was runny.
