Osteria al DogeTheater DistrictVery good for pre theater or after theater.
Nice ambience and friendly service.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFood from Venice!Excellent menu for local foods in the style of Venice! Great restaurant for pre or post theater and only a block off the
ever so tiring "Restaurant Row" of dinner choices. A real find for Italian lovers!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Pre-theater spotI took the family here based on very positive reviews, and was not disappointed. We were seated on the balcony, which is a little more quiet than the dining room on the main level. Our waiter was personable and attentive, the food was tasty, and everyone enjoyed the evening. Highly recommended.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBUZZINGwe booked this for a quick bite to eat before a broadway shoe. we didn't really have much time to spend & had to rush a little. the food arrived in plenty of time. the only complaint i would have would be to say i would have preferred to spend the whole evening here. the food, service & the amazing atmosphere is a great experience for anyone going to nyc. would certainly return5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food....but loudFood was great as was the wine. Both were reasonably priced. Only complaint was that it was very loud..5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI have eaten several times,I have eaten several times, the food is great. This time around the service was a little laxed, but I never had this issue before.
The risotto milanese, the lasagna, caesar salad, fruit tart and mousse are a must try! The sausage ragu on the pasta is a good stand by.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely eveningDelicious meal, great service, close to theater, but not in the touristy mix. Definite return.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWill absolutely be back!Delicious food, perfect portion sizes, service excellent; main floor loud and active, which we didn't mind but we were lucky enough to be seated upstairs at a lovely table with a friendly waiter who was very considerate of our plans to see a show after dinner. Had 5:30 reservations and made it to our 7pm show with time to spare. This was our first time here and you can bet we will be back!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMquiet dinner in Times SquareAn excellent Italian restaurant right in the heart of Times Square with character, great food and top service. What makes it a real find is that you can also carry on a conversation over dinner which is a rarity in the bustling touristy Times Square area. Had the perfect dinner here with business colleagues5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as usualMy wife and I have dined here a few times before takingin a show. The food and service are consistently excellent. We will definitely go back again.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWould recommendTimes Square can easily be called a barren wasteland for good, quality food. Osteria al Doge is the exception. Good service and vibe pair with great, quality food at this gem, and is reasonably priced for an upscale restaurant.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for pre-theaterGreat experience. Staff was welcoming, attentive, and helpful. Ravioli, as many helpers have commented, was excellent. Good wine selection. We had a very enjoyable, non-rushed dinner and made our show in plenty of time. (Booked 6:15 dinner for 8 pm show 5 blocks away).5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Find In Theater DistrictTheater District restaurants can be crowded, loud and mediocre and overpriced, but not Osteria al Doge. Not to say it isn't crowded and loud pre-theater, but the food and service are outstanding! And there is an upstairs which is quieter. And the prices are average, (not outrageous), for the theater district. I'm so glad I found this restaurant. Four of us were going to the theater - two members of the party were elderly; one was handicapped. The staff was so accomodating. It can be hard to find a great restaurant that's somewhat reasonable in the mid-40s - where all the theaters are. This was a wonderful find. I will definitely return.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM20 years goingThis is and has been for many years my favorite theater restaurant. I have been dining here since it opened and have never had a bad meal. If you have theater tickets, you can be sure you will get there. It is also a great restaurant after the theater crowd has gone. They continually update the menu so you will never get bored. I have recommended it to so many friends who have discovered it and agreed with my recommendation.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur group of seven was inOur group of seven was in to see a show on a Sunday. We had a pre-theatre brunch there which was delicious and well priced. Nice atmosphere and great service. Very accomodating and did not rush us. Definitely recommend!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis venue was very comfortableThis venue was very comfortable and pleasant, our waitress was totally charming and provided good service, and the location was good for my group. Food was very good, especially the antipasto, but I am very strict and cannot say it was excellent.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifully appointed restaurantBeautifully appointed restaurant with subtly-themed European circus decor. Lovely menu that included creative specials and a seasonal "tasting" option. Our two grandchildren (age 8) were given tiny plastic monkeys to play with while waiting for their meals. Nice touch! My wife enjoyed her prix-fixe dinner of zuppa and salmone, and I had the delicious gamberoni pietrasanta. The children shared an order of pasta with butter and cheese and beautifully grilled chicken paillards. All dishes were beautifully presented.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA great choice in the theaterA great choice in the theater district. The menu was interesting and the food was excellent. We were very pleased.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI was there with two friendsI was there with two friends and it went very well. On e of my dining companions did not care for her soup, but the server was very gracious and took it back and off the bill. The rosemary focaccia did not have much rosemary in it this time, as compared with previous visits. My spinach and ricotta ravioli was delicious, however, and our overall experience was quite positive.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTheatre District GemI can't think of a better place to go before the theatre. Delicious food, great service and good food. Right in the center of the theatre distict, yet definitely not a tourist trap...go!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place close to Time SquareA nice Italian place if you are in Times Square. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The wine and appetizers were a little over priced. I guess you are paying for the convenience of time square. The main course was priced fairly.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved this restaurant. WaitressLoved this restaurant. Waitress was adorable and friendly.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to dinner at OsteriaWe went to dinner at Osteria al Doge before our 8pm show. The atmosphere is warm and charming, the food is very good but not special. I would characterize it as an excellent, reasonably priced place to go pre-theater. We sat down at 5:30 and the restaurant quickly filled. The staff was friendly and attentive. The antipasto plate we shared was excellent. The caesar salad as well as the chicken entree were average. The fish and steak were excellent. We didn't leave room for dessert but the dessert tray they showed us was tempting! Would go back.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food, atentive service,Fabulous food, atentive service, but very noisy - good for pre-theater fare.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMthis is our second time therethis is our second time there and we really like it. Great location in Times Square, close to theatres, food is good and we will return!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is still a good theaterThis is still a good theater district pick but, on our most recent visit, several dishes did not measure up to previous experience...specifically the tuna appetizer and the jumbo shrimp entrée.Salmon and desserts were very good though.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFor Dinner Before a Broadway ShowWent for an early dinner on a Tuesday evening prior to seeing a Broadway show. Glad I made a reservation. Very busy at that hour. Can be a little crowded sitting downstairs but there are additional small tables upstairs. Food was excellent. Wine list by the glass was adequate. Enjoyed a nice Valpolicella. Highly recommend it.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and service, butGood food and service, but like all NY restaurants, a bit noisy.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDKWe had great service and a exceptional meals. Great location to theater district. Food was excellent. Priced well. I will definitely go back again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a wonderful dinnerGreat for a wonderful dinner before a play or actually anytime4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great place to eatThis is a great place to eat in the Times Square area, particularly because the food is good, the service is fast, and if you have to make an 8:00 curtain (which is the only reason for a New Yorker to eat in the Times Square area!) you can count on Osteria al Doge to get you out on time. Staff is very friendly and courteous.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is always excellent.Food is always excellent. Great choice for dinner any time.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOur party of 5 had 6:00 reservationOur party of 5 had 6:00 reservations on a Sunday evening. We found the restaurant to be quite busy when we arrived. We were seated promptly in the upstairs section and had an extremely attentive, knowledgeable waiter. There were several "foodies" in our group all of whom had nothing but positive comments about the wine selection and the quality of the entrees. (They loved the mussels!) We would strongly recommend!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorites! One of my favorites...try and visit every time I'm in NYC!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was DELICIOUS! ServiceFood was DELICIOUS! Service could have been slightly better, took a little longer then average to place order, but that is my only complaint!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMnice supriseWent to this restaurant because of the reviews. Was so happy with our choice. They made sure we were in and out for the theater and the food was terrific would go again!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect pre-theater spot.Perfect pre-theater spot. Food just great, never disappoints4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had very good service,We had very good service, attentive but not pushy. Our waitress knew we had to get to the theater, and when my friend arrived late, the waitress made a special effort to see that we got out in time for the show.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PlaceGreat food and service. Always a great night out with friends.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always we enjoyed our foodAs always we enjoyed our food and time at Osteria al Doge. It has never disappointed!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a lovely dinner beforeHad a lovely dinner before a show. Excellent food, attentive service. Tucked away spot is worth seeking out.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMthe service was excellent--attentivthe service was excellent--attentive, but not intrusive.
First visit and for brunch--therefore can't comment on regular menu. Brunch selections were extensive and varied and we all liked what we had--eggs florentine, panini, etc.
Price reasonable.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistency is the Key!Love Osteria al Doge for their consistency. The food and the presentation is superb. Our waitress was wonderful and we would love to have her serve us again next time.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDined here over the weekendDined here over the weekend before setting a show. We were seated upstairs, which seemed less noisy than downstairs. for appetizers, we had the Caesar salad and tomato bruschetta. The bruscetta was forgettable compared to the rest of the meal, but the salad was great. It was served in a large parmesan crisp bowl. I had the special of the night, homemade ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta in a fava bean sauce, topped with a prawn. Wasn't sure what to expect but turned out to be the best ravioli I've ever had. My boyfriend had spaghetti in a veal ragu - also very tasty. The pasta was cooked perfectly. Portions were good sized, we were too full for dessert. We were in and out pretty quickly, as they knew we had a show to catch.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for pre-theatreExcellent for pre-theatre dinner - great food and really outstanding service - We will go certainly go back3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were looking for somethingWe were looking for something close to the Theater District and found this on Open Table. It ended up being our favorite in NYC and we can't wait for a return trip to try it again! The service was excellent and friendly and our server didn't lead us astray with her suggestions. The food was fantastic! The Caesar salad was traditional with a Parmesan crust bowl and enough for two to share. We highly recommend the Tortellini with salmon and goat cheese; it was rich, yet light. The Risotto Laguna was filled with a variety of seafood and was cooked to perfection.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had dinner here beforeWe had dinner here before our show on Friday night and everything was delicous!! A bread basket with a variety of choices started our meal. We shared an order of bruschetta that was perfectly prepared. My husband had the lasagna that he said was the best he has ever had!! I had the eggplant ravioli that was just perfect. My husband who is not a big fan of eggplant loved the raviloi also!! We will definately be back there when we return to the city.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food! A littleExcellent food! A little crowded and noisy, but a gem of a restaurant in the times square area.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMNot to be missedExcellent Italian-owned restaurant in NYC. Don't let the moderately priced menu fool you. The food is top notch wonderful. Truly homemade Italian with a nice trendy touch. Nice accompanying wine and bread basket too! Appetizers to die for. Tons of different kinds of homemade ravioli. We tried some with salmon and another with eggplant. Yum! Great for lunch or dinner, but make reservations.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
