Diner Reviews
  • "From the moment I stepped in the door of this plus restaurant I knew I'd be in for a treat! The foods phenomenal. The lobster linguine in garlic wine sauce was fantastic. The organic Ashley Farms roasted chicken was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were strong but not overpowering. The decor is ambient with just the right amount of lighting while the DJ spins in the background. Definitely plan to spend some money here but it is well worth it!"

  • "Excellent food although the place was not busy at all. Was there for dinner before a comedy show. Service was great. Was pleasantly surprised that it was so good. Was more surprised the place was not busy. Maybe we caught them on an extremely slow night. Definitive recommend it. Will go again when in that area for something else."

  • "Ambiance is stunning and service was great! Food was overall good, although I did expect it to be better. Clam Pizza was great! Go for drinks and appetizers."

  • "Lots of ambiance in this place, I love the atmosphere. The lamb was delicious and both our servers were excellent."

  • "The food was good. The service was ok. We actually had 2 servers, I think one was in training. I don't really know this for sure, because the main server just told us her name, but never said why she was following him around. It was kinda weird to be honest. But she obviousely did not like her job-to-be. She never smiled or tried to interact with us. She just stood behind the server, looking like she wanted to put a gun to her head. The atmosphere was interesting. I'm not really sure what they were going for. It was kind of South Beach, and kind of "safari" with the animal print. And the tables were very close together. It's not a big space, and the bar/lounge took up alot of space, so maybe the reasturant was an afterthought."

  • "Osso was a great choice. The food was excellent. I had the halibut with tortellini and it was wonderful. A friend had the smoked salmon pizza and it was great also. The steak salad was a little small for a meal. The decor is beautiful and there was ample room between tables. A fun evening."

  • "Have dined at this restaurant several times, due to its convenient location to Comedy Zone. First couple times we enjoyed it - but last 2 had issues. Ordered food with plenty of time for 9:30 show, found ourselves with little time to eat by the time our food came. Service was slow, common on previous visits. Ordered Linguine (over-cooked and stuck together in clumps) w/ Lobster (only traces/garnish bits of claw meat - and it's the first seafood ingredient), Shrimp (small baby/frozen-like shrimp), Mussels & Clams - had 3 of these dishes at the table and ALL were the same. Other complaints like unfriendly hostess, or wrong drink delivered to the table are secondary issues. As running late didn't have time to tell manager about experience."

  • "Entree comes together with a drink. A choosen wine cames um middle of the dinner. Was refused. Very difficult to come back"

  • "We chose to eat at Osso one night right before heading over to a concert at The Fillmore - it was a great location because we parked between the two and had no trouble with parking or with getting to the concert on time! Because I made a reservation on Open Table, they were ready for us as soon as we walked in, which was great. The atmosphere was nice enough, clearly aiming for the 'romantic' vibe. We ordered wine, two appetizers, and a pizza to split, as we were tight on time. Overall, it was a nice evening, the food was good (not great, but decent). My only complaint is that the service was a little slow. I would go back to Osso just for the convenience, if nothing else!"

  • "We had tickets to a show after dinner so arrived 90 minutes before we had to leave. We ordered food right away. We noticed a few people around us that got their after us received their food. We asked our server about it and his response was that "chicken" dishes take longer. Finally 15 minutes before we had to leave for the show our food arrives and the chicken dish was the wrong one we ordered. My boyfriend couldn't even eat the wrong dish because he can't eat mushrooms. He ended up not eating diner that night because we had to leave. The server apologized, but acted like it wasn't a big deal or mistake. Because of this my boyfriend will never go back to Osso, which is disappointing because I love the restaurant."

  • "Before going to Osso we were a little worried by some earlier reviews criticizing slow and spotty service, but we were curious enough to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised to find none of those problems on May 31st. Our server was excellent, and our observations of nearby tables indicated that things were going well overall. We (two couples) found the food to be imaginative, delicious, and an excellent value for the price, and the wine list had an acceptable range of prices and varieties. The modern decor and lighting were dramatic yet inviting. The music was not obtrusive but also not exactly to our taste; however, we were the oldest (by far) people, and the younger clientele seemed to enjoy it,"

  • "We are foodies. Been to some of the best $$$$ restos in CLT. This ranks in top 2 right now for food selection, flavor and presentation. Authentic knowledge of true Italian food is evident. "

  • "Didn't have enough menus for us when we sat down. Apps were not very good. Bucco was overcooked...place is nice and fancy but missing the details to last"

  • "The food was delicious . I ordered the meatball appetizer they were a little smaller than I thought they would be ,but delicious. The drink I ordered which was a Pomegranate Martini was nice & made with the right amount alcohol. I will definitely be going back soon."

  • "Funky decor, music more like a nightclub instead of a dining restaurant, however good food! Parking was not easy - the valet lot was full at 7:45 on a Wednesday night. Excellent server who knew the menu well."
    Dined on 5/21/2014
  • "I read all the reviews before going so I had an "opinion" of what to expect and wanted them to prove me wrong. Hostess was disconnected, didn't smile and acted like she could have cared less that I was about to spend $100 there. Waitress was same but warmed up and turned out ok. Food was VERY good, I was shocked and pleased. Very neat place and I would probably go back but employee's need to understand, there are a lot of options in Charlotte."

  • "We've dine here many times, but recently, they've changed their menu. I'm a very healthy eater, and usually would be able to have my meal modified a little, to suit my taste buds and health. This time, I found it wasn't at all, easy. Great place, just not for me anymore. Not many healthy options. "

  • "We fined here for the first time for my husbands birthday. Parking was a little tough until we realized there was complimentary valet if you dined at the restaurant. Oops! Good was delicious, reasonably priced for the quantity and quality. Music was a little loud, but it was a Thursday night and it would be turning into a lounge/bar later. Loved the decor, very modern and it gives you that city feel. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. We can't wait to go back and bring our friends. "

  • "not bad with a groupon but overpriced for a lot of the menu. also the tables are extremely close together and make getting in and out of your seat difficult."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "The indoor tables for two were EXTREMELY close together, offering absolutely no privacy of conversation. In fact, you could barely squish between two tables to get to your seat, and I am a very slim individual. We had wanted to sit indoors, but with the people on either side of you sitting within about two feet either way, we opted for outdoor seating. The food was good, but not amazing. Our waitress was helpful and efficient. I probably will not return to this restaurant."

  • "Signature dish osso bucco wasn't any better than a typical pot roast. Lasagna was ok. Very empty and quiet for Friday night. Server not able to answer questions about menu. Would not go back unless it was free."

  • "I dined at Osso with my boyfriend before a show at the Fillmore. The decor is very Miami Beach. Our waiter seemed to be new and need some additional training. Our water glasses remained empty for too long and neglected to ask if we wanted anything else from the bar long after our drinks were done. The food was not bad, but for the price point I expected the shortribs to be more tender and less stringy. My companion's entree came out wrong initially, but the manager stepped in quickly and righted everything. Overall I would give Osso a 7 out of 10. It is a good place to go before a show."

  • "Our waiter, Christian, was awesome! The food was delicious. Highly recommend the salmon entree! Manager came by and cleared our plates and talked to us for a minute, was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!"

  • "I took my wife here for her birthday recently. This was our first experience, but we found the food and atmosphere to be very good. The service was good, as well. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, salads, and an entree all of which came out in a timely fashion. We had to make a very early reservation at 5:30 p.m. and when I recieved a reminder call, I asked if there was anyway we could move it to 6 or 6:30, but was told there were none available. However, there seemed to be an abundance of empty tables during the time we were there which was about an hour and a half. Our first round of drinks were little less in volume than the second round and we were never offered bread that other tables seemed to have. Otherwise, a great experience!"

  • "The ambiance was very romantic with sift lighting, low noise and fantastic food. The antipasti platter is my favorite thing on the menu. Great variety and very tasty for writing palettes. The salmon was a bit bland but combines with the spinach ended up quite delicious. There's plenty to do around the restaurant after dinner so the location is also amazing."

  • "I normally don't write any reviews especially bad ones... I Tried to eat there once before and couldn't without reservations. Made a reservation the second time and although the restaurant looked really nice, it took forever to get any of our food when there were only us and another couple there at the time. The food was overpriced and did not taste like restaurant food. This included trying two different appetizers, entrees, and deserts.Would have made better food at home for much cheaper. Not worth going back."

  • "My girlfriend and I went for dinner and overall the place was fine, not great but fine. The restaurant was empty as we went early and yet our food took some time to come out to our table. I'll defend this by saying that one, there were only two other tables of two guests at each table and two, I've worked in restaurants and managed kitchens so I have a good sense of how long a meal should probably take. Overall the food tasted good especially the homemade pasta but to be honest the portions for the cost were a bit off especially the calamari appetizer. When the plate came to our table it felt like someone had already eaten a few bites as the portion was pretty light especially for the $. Waiter and staff were pleasant and the decor is cool."

  • "The restaurant has a wonderful décor! The overall ambience is great! The only thing that I would recommend is hiring a few more waiters. Although the venue is small, the appeared to be a lack of waiters in which contribute to a longer wait time when ordering, needing something etc. The waiter that we had, Emily was absolutely great! We were just patient as we seen there were not may waiters. Other than that the restaurant and food overall get a thumbs up!"

  • "It was okay. The food was adequate, but that's all. For the "okay" quality of our meals, the prices were too high. An equivalent meal at Outback is $10 cheaper and tastes better. Because of the high prices and okay food, I started looking around... what were they charging for? The ambiance is supposed to feel upscale, but it comes across as a parody of a nice restaurant. I just don't get it. A dimly lit dining room with odd black & white photos and euro/techno elevator music, does not make a place classy. Less peculiar decor w/ better food OR lower prices and I would give it a better review. Maybe I caught them on an off night, but too expensive to give them a 2nd chance... sorry. (except for the focaccia bread; it was AMAZING)"

  • "Visited Osso for the very first with friends and we loved the decor and vibrant atmosphere. Small dining area inside that is just off of the bar which makes for a blending of customers. The food was very good from a diverse but encompassing menu which basically means there is something for everyone, and our waitress was excellent in her description of dishes and suggestions. Food well presented and very tasty and with a wine list designed to please any palate. Desserts were incredible. A fun and comforting "first time" visit that will be followed by a second real soon."

  • "If it wasn't for the groupon that I used, it was not worth the money. Everything was expensive and food was not that good. My fiancee got the Ashely Farms Chicken breast Marsala and she really liked it but I tried it and the flavor of the chicken was not to my tasting. It was decent at most. I had the linguine with lobster, mussels and clams. And that was good but not great. It was definitely not worth 23 dollars. We had a new waitress and we liked her a lot but she had no knowledge of anything we asked her. I asked her about a beer menu and she didn't know that she was supposed to tell us what Osso had. She had to go ask someone. Is there no training at Osso?Tables we're too close and I could hear all the conversations next to me."

  • "We started with the roasted artichoke which the cheese inside was bland. I had the goat cheese stuffed tortellini, it was average, but needed salt. My boyfriend ordered the linguine with seafood and enjoyed it. For dessert my boyfriend was hoping for the lava cake but we were't told it would take 20 minutes(it took over 20 minutes for our dessert to come out anyway). He decided on cannolis which were not filled all the way through. I ordered the carrot cake, when you hear carrot cake you think cream cheese icing, well no, this was a carrot cake muffin with no icing. The best part was the hazelnut gelato and the foccacia bread. Our waitress was new, but she never came over during dessert, I was hoping to order something else."
