  • "There was no valet parking. Droved around for 30 mins looking for parking. Finally I asked a nearby establishment if I could use their valet parking and they let me."

  • "This restaurant is two blocks from the US Grant Hotel where I was staying, call my attention the great variety of seafood plates when I was checking the menu on line, but honestly it was beyond my expectations, the service, ambience and food were exceptional, highly recommend Cioppino a perfect mix of clams, crab, shrimp, mussels, fish, linguini on a light tomato broth, just delicious!!! It was so easy to book reservations on line, very impressed with the presentation of the dishes and how wonderful, well timed and friendly was my service, definitely a place to come back to try more dishes, and suggest to friends that visit San Diego"

  • "Sat nite reservation for 7:45 but not seated until 8:15. Drinks at bar were delish, appys pretty good and dinner was disappointing. 2 of 3 dinners had a lame sear on yellowtail and scallops. Service, while friendly and knowledgeable, was very slow. We waited 20-30 min for entrees ... AFTER we were already finished with appys. For a $350 meal will not go back."

  • "I was looking for a last minute dining option, since I had plans to meet some old coworkers at Gaslamp Quarter, and I was lucky to find Osetra. The restaurant has a nice interior decor, friendly staff and amazing sea food. The Costa Rican Mahi Mahi is a dish I would recommend to any sea food lovers out there. However, a few things did disappoint me. I didn't like the fact that they ran out of multiple beer options and the food took quite a while to get to us. Other than that I had a wonderful experience and would recommend Osetra to friends and family."

  • "We were here for a special birthday, and it was everything I had hoped for. The waiters were very attentive, and the food and wine quality were tops. The live music on Fridays and Saturdays really enhanced the ambiance. After dinner, we moved over to be nearer the musicians, and I enjoyed an after dinner liqueur. Overall a lovely evening. They gave me a tiramisu on the house when I told them it was my birthday."

  • "tables were really tight and noise level loud. It seemed that they oversold number of tables they can fit in their space. we left before we ate."

  • "This restaurant is located in one of the hottest spots of San Diego, the Gaslamp District. The restaurant has nice indoor ambiance however the outdoor seating makes for great people watching."

  • "Yes, even better than 5 Stars. This place offers more than most restaurants--beautiful ambiance, professional service that goes above and beyond, and food that is unparalleled. The sea bass was better than any I have ever had, cooked just perfectly, as was the stuffed fish that my wife had. The molten chocolate dessert was a melt in your mouth treat. We never order desserts, but after the outstanding meals that we had, we felt that we had to try them and were not disappointed. Our only regret is that we were only visiting San Diego for the week and won't be able to dine there on a regular basis so that we can try the rest of the menu offerings."

  • "I took my fiancé here for dinner on Valentines day and we were very impressed on the whole experience we had. We arrived 30 minutes early and sat at the bar while we waited for our table. I believe it was Cindy who served us very well mixed drinks there. We had Bruchetta for an appetizer which was very good. We where then seated at our table upstairs that had a decent view, good ambiance. I had the NY Strip and she had Fillet. Both were cooked perfectly and we'll seasoned. The sides were equally as good, and we had Crembule for desert that was perfect. It took almost no time at all to receive our dinner however I would have preferred a few more visits from our server Marco, however he was quite busy with the rush. Overall, magnificent!"

  • "Went to Osetra on Valentine's Day. Thought it would be really crowded and had a 7p reservation. As soon as we checked in at 6:55p, we were escorted to our table. They were busy, but the staff really had it all under control. We ordered drinks and our meal. Drinks were delivered quickly. My wife ordered the Mahi Mahi and I ordered the Filet Migon which came within 10 minutes of ordering. Everything was cooked to our liking and tasted really good. I would recommend."

  • "We had a great time and I would like to go back with a group of 6 or more. The setting, the noise level and the casualness was perfect. The food was very good, also the drink were just right."

  • "Service is good but a bit too pushy, noise level is very high (not able to have a quiet conversation), food is good but not spectacular for the price"

  • "This was our second visit to Osetra and it does not disappoint! Being Valentines Day, I expected chaos, however the service was fantastic! Our waiter, James, went out his way to make sure we were well taken care of. The food was on par with fine dining from starter to dessert. Not an inexpensive place, this is definitely a special occasion spot."

  • "My boy fiend and I were walking down 5th avenue trying to find a great seafood spot. We were immediately attracted by Osetra beautiful bar. The hostess informed us of the happy hour they offer so we startd there. There happy hour was phenomenal! $1 fresh oysters from there iced shellfish bar yes please!! We then moved to a table on the upper level the view is beautiful. They sat us on a aide close to the wine tower where we were able to watch the wine angels pull wines. My boyfriend ordered the stuffed lobster surf and turf special it was AMAZING! I had the salmon over spinach risotto it was also a Great choice. We enjoyed both food and service. We had a wonderful evening and will be sure to come back!"

  • "Charming from the second we walked it. Our server was fantastic. Great wine, great salad, and great dessert. Hip spot for grabbing a nice meal before a little night on the town. I'm not sure who it was, but someone was strapped into caribeaners and scaling the wall grabbing bottles of wine. Everyone loved it!"

  • "This was not a memorable experience for me. Food was ok. We got stuck on the second floor away from the rest of the people. The table was wobbly. The staff fixed it. The servers didn't appear to be well polished. She didn't smile at all while talking to me. Odd. I liked my food in general. Probably will not go back there again."

  • "Our table had asked for bread over 5 times and when it finally came we got 4 pieces. When we looked over at tables surrounding us their baskets were overflowing with bread. I mean seriously? It's $40 a person and you can't afford to provide us bread? Our server was kind of a jerk and the entire evening we had to just grab busters to help us fill water, drinks, etc. I won't be coming back."

  • "Portions are large and.the food was good. My only only issue was having a confirmed reservation and having to wait 30 minutes for our table."

  • "Had a 6:45 reservation was ontime, checked w girls outside n asked to wait inside. Restaurant tables were empty n not many people waiting so I couldn t understand why we had to wait inside. We were totally ignored by Bartender even though bar only had 3 people @ other end,had to finally flagged him n he brought our 2 glasses of very short pour glasses of wine.Others w wine had more. Proceeded to wait while other people came in and were seated right away and before us. We Waited n waited then finally by almost 7:15 I walked outside n said did u forget us? Then seated us. Waiter Joel was very attentive, as others too. I liked there were several people taking care of you .All courses good, Mahi Mahi exceptional! Presentation good too."

Lisa took care of us at the bar and was great she recommended really good fun cocktails. We had such a great time we decided to move to a table for dinner. Andrew was our server. He was wonderful! He was very friendly and attentive. Our entrees were fabulous! The lobster and scallops were fresh and delish! This is definitely a hot spot and we will be back!"

  • "I was googling steakhouses for a group of friends for New Year's Eve dinner, came across Osetra, checked out their menu and said "hey sure, why not?" It ended up being a wonderful find. Great food, good service (they may have been a bit swamped with New Year's Eve diners), and a noisy but happenin' atmosphere. I had the scallops, absolutely delicious. A few friends got the filet mignon, they enjoyed it very much, and the salmon was supposedly terrific as well. I'd definitely come back here."

  • "Osetra was wonderful. The seafood was amazing and the service excellent. Staff was attentive and friendly. The three floor wine cellar was unique and we had the pleasure of watching it being filled. The ombiance was wonderful. All around we had a great dining experience. I highly recommend Osetra."

  • "The food was ok. The service was horrible. Our waiter didn't know the menu, never came back to check on us after we ordered. The bartender actually came over because she noticed I needed another drink. I had to go to the bar for another drink as our waiter still hadn't come back to check on us and we were almost done with our meal. The manager was just walking around and talking to people. She wasn't managing her restaurant at all. The bar was empty. Not one person there on a Saturday night downtown. That tells you something right there. We would definitely not go back."

  • "I was overwhelmed with excitement!!! I love wine!! So when I walked in and saw the wine angles I was blown away!!! Everyone was so nice and made you feel like you weren't just "table 5" I loved it! My fiancé ordered the lobster fettuccine with a steak it was delicious and cooked to perfection. He is a huge foodie so the fact that the pasta was homemade was a plus! I had the ahi tuna yuuuummm!! It doesn't get any better than fresh seafood! If you are looking for an amazing ambience, too shelf customer service and all out great night this is the place to be!!"

  • "We were hoping to find great sea food, but the execution was poor. As it was a very busy Christmas dinner service, I cut them a little slack. The concierge at the hotel was excited about our choice, so my expectations were pretty high. One of the two crab cakes was average with chunks of recognizable crab and a nice sear. The other was cold, pale, and homogenous like it had been cobbled together from left over parts. The lobster ravioli was nice with a pesto cream sauce. Although very busy, the staff worked hard to meet everyone's needs."

  • "Had a great dinner there! Server Andrew was very friendly and gave us some great suggestions. Loved everything we tried, especially tuna appetizer and mahi mahi."

  • "Had dinner there last night. What a great find! Service was very attentive and server was very personable and gave us very nice suggestions. I had scallops and loved it! My boyfriend got a steak and seemed to enjoy it, too. We will definitely be back. Oh, and the wine tower with wine angels is quite a show!"

  • "My wife and I were very disappointed with Osetra. Even though the place was only half full, the service was very slow. We had to ask for bread twice. It finally arrived after our appetizers. I had the Ahi, which was OK. I've had better at other restaurants. For the price it should have been great. We won't be going back. There are too many great restaurants in downtown that we enjoy."

  • "This was out of this world! Excellent winelist and wonderful service. The locally caught ahi-tune and the ribeye were the top favorites! Truly enjoyed it as we were on a company dinner. Wine angels were very entertaining and fun to watch as well."

  • "we went for a business dinner and it was unfortunate that the waiter managed to interrupt the conversation at the critical moment on a number of occasions. we realised he was only doing his job ( which he did very well) but it was frustrating! The noise level was also a little too high for comfortable conversation, but the food was excellent. So I would recommend for a special occasion but not for a meeting!"

  • "Our experience at Osetra was outstanding! I had scallops and my wife had stuffed sole and both meals had excellent presentation and were delicious. The service was excellent and we enjoyed dining outside. We will dine their again, the next time we are in San Diego."

  • "For a high end seafood restaurant, I have great expectations and Osetra failed to come close to being memorable. Our server disappeared for most of the night and then left half way throughout the meal and turned us over to someone else. Starters were OK - spicy tuna and tuna napolitan was good - but lobster bisque was average. Sea bass was supposedly their specialty but was very fishy. Mahi mahi sounded good on paper but wasnt anything to write home about. Biggest disappointment was with the cocktails. I order a Grey Goose on the rocks and when it came out the glass was very small, overflowing with ice, and had practically no vodka in it. I was done in 3 sips (small ones) and didnt even order - or was asked if I wanted - another one."
    Dined on 10/18/2013
  • "I was really looking forward to eating here and it just didn't quite add up to my expectations. The food was just so so for the most part, our waiter was rushed and got a few things wrong and it looked like maybe others are beginning to see the weaknesses because Saturday night was 75% full. And it was buzzing in the Gas Lamp. Sorry Osetra, I won't be back. One thing though, my sea bass plate was good."

  • "We hosted/celebrated a friend from out of town. The Mrs. wanted to dress up and feel spoiled that night as well. Osetra was perfect for both. Be prepared to spend $$$, but the Mrs. is still discussing a) the scallops that she loved, and b) the incredibly handsome waiter with the French accent. And, after being seated at a less than preferential table, the manager had no problem moving our party to a more secluded area where we could talk and be heard. The "wine angels", though novel, were basically just okay. Perhaps a more elaborate costume would be in order?"
