A word from Oscar's of Dublin
Tucked in the north end of Historic Dublin, Oscar's is a full-service restaurant and wine bar, with a relaxed, rustic feel. Our specialty is good food and drink served right.
Diner Reviews
  • "Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their food tremendously. My filet was cooked to perfection. (The others also enjoyed their tuna tacos, veal dish and tilapia.) Our only complaint was the length of time it took to get our main course--quite a while! We did notice a large group leaving from a room apart from the main dining area as we were finishing our meal, and I'm sure this contributed to the slowness of service. Overall, a pleasant dining experience."

  • "Oscar's has become probably our favorite place. There is such a "local" feel and everyone is very friendly. It is obvious, especially in the bar, that the patrons are regulars and everyone seems to know one another. We live about an hour from Oscar's and decided at the last minute to see if we could get a table. We were very happy we were able to do so. The food is always superb and the atmosphere is great!"

  • "Great food with many different dinner choices. Great to take out of town guest to, especially if you don't have any idea of their food preferences. Service has always been excellent."

  • "the only negative for this place was that it was VERY cold inside - it felt like the A/C was on and blowing on us"

  • "Went to Oscar's for the first time with some business colleagues and we were generally pleased with everything. I had the crusted salmon and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. (the maritini was good, except I had to send my second one back because the bartender used too much olive juice). However, one of my colleagues ordered the New York steak - medium and his came out well done. Unfortunately the rest of us had already received our meals and by the time the replacement steak came back, cooked correctly, the rest of us were done eating (hard to believe it takes that long to cook a medium steak, especially on a rush). Oscar's management did comp his meal and sincerely apologized, so I'll be back. Good food, good service, nice atmo"

  • "My girlfriend was in from out of town, and while there are many choices in downtown Dublin...Oscar's did not dissapoint as the best of those! Great food, calm atmosphere, superior wine list! Superb."

  • "We have been to dinner at Oscar's several times and it has gone down hill the last two times. Service was slow, as was the restaurant. I had a filet and it was mealy with little flavor. I ordered broccoli vs the mashed potatoes and they were good. The couple we went with had a similar experience with their food, a filet and angel hair pasta dish. Little flavor for the prices paid. I don't believe we take the chance on going back."

  • "Oscar's has been a one-of--a-kind, consistently good restaurant in Old Dublin for many years. Always a favorite spot to meet for lunch or dinner especially in warm weather, when the patio is open. Some of my personal favorite items on the menu are the butternut squash soup, chicken salad, and the walleye dinner. There is a wide variety of menu options and you can count on excellent taste & quality. Always great service in a comfortable yet white table cloth setting. Love the bar too!"

  • "Oscar's menu is always interesting and delicious. Love the atmosphere, too. We had a large group and everyone enjoyed their meal."

  • "Enjoyed all but the ambience. This was just average."

  • "Excellent food - great variety and creative dishes - just as it says "creative American dining". I don't think I'd ever seen devilled eggs on a menu like these and banana cream pie - my favorites!"

  • "We sat at the bar, everything was wonderful. My one complaint would be that the bartender did not seem to want us to partake in happy hour martinis - she actually mentioned that she couldn't use any high end liquors in them and when happy hour was expiring she was speaking with another associate letting the clock run out. At 6:01 she said she was sorry but couldn't give another happy hour martini - at point our drinks had been empty for a few minutes. We were not a cheap table - we ate dinner there too, but felt like we were treated a little like we were."

  • "First time customers. We will return for more visits. Everything was just perfect for our evening out. We will recommend it to friends and family."

  • "We had the walleye and crispy Tilapia along with the smoked trout and oyster appetizers. I liked the walleye and the trout although my wife didn't care for the trout as much as I did. She found it cold, hard and too smoky. The crispy Tilapia wasn't crispy at all and was drenched in the same sauce which they drowned the oyster appetizer in thus rendering each protein as virtually unrecognizable...a major disappointment for two relatively delicate seafoods. The wine list was interesting and the specialty cocktails were fun to sample. The bar looked like it might be kind of fun to hang out in but they were rolling up the dining room at 9:30 on a Friday night. We might go back and try small plates in the bar."

  • "We had a very special evening with our children celebrating our son getting a new job. The service was wonderful, very quick to take our drink orders, allowed us to talk between taking the food orders, everyones food was excellent, the beef short rib special was wonderful. I would reccomend this gem to anyone looking for a place to celebrate a special event."

  • "We had a late lunch Lunch for 7 adults mid-week, so it was quiet when we arrived. Had a great time. Menu had great variety and everyone was extremely happy with their choices. Service was excellent."

  • "My husband and I came here for our 12th anniversary lunch, which happened to also be Valentine's Day. Amazing and fun appettizers, nice bar selection. We will be back!!"

  • "Oscars, an old favorite due to its really good food and service. The background noise was just so high that we couldn't converse at dinner without a lot of repeating."

  • "First off I must say Oscars is my favorite restaurant. But this visit wasn't the best. My food was fantastic (tilapia) as was the wine we chose. However my wife got the filet and crab cake special but wasn't informed that blue cheese came on the steak. She cannot stand the taste and thus it ruined her meal. Also she never had her water refilled which was odd eve though mine was. There were two parties of 6 near us that were incredibly loud as well. Nothing that will keep us from returning but it could've been better."

  • "Oxymoronic as it sounds, this was a very reasonably priced menu for the 'quality' of restaurant. While the food didn't wow either of us (my wife had the special - filet / crab cake...good, but the blue cheese on the filet totally overpowered the meat; I had the voodoo risotto...good), it was certainly above average, and well worth what was paid. Cheese board wasn't that great, but you get what you pay for and it wasn't high priced so meh...it was fine Wine selection was nice, and not overly priced either. Very surprising not to be overcharged on either aspect of the meal for fine dining. Nice place, little noisy but fine. Service was good. Cheerful Overall would definitely recommend to a friend and will definitely be back."

  • "In recent years, I have been less enamored of dining out on Valentine's Day. Frequently more tables are added, ambiance is crowded and food service hit or miss. Not true of our experience at Oscar's. Everything was perfect! John our server was jovial, helpful with menu items and service. The menu was delicious. Would recommend the oyster tournedos, roasted shrimp with corn cakes."

  • "The food was very good as usual and the Oyster Tostados are back. However, the tables are simply too close together to make for an enjoyable holiday dining experience, especially for the small room in the northeast corner."

  • "Bread basket was way more enjoyable than the wedge salad. One of the "three" pieces of the iceberg lettuce was the core. Yea, that thing you should cut out and throw away. I was told "it happens sometimes..." NY strip was WAY overcooked to a medium well (mostly well) and the 3 potato bacon hash had no bacon flavor. It tasted like a fajita breakfast home potato (frozen bag mix). The aioli and broccolini was the most tasteful part. Chocolate bread pudding was worth it. Wife liked her meal (Scallops) so not a complete loss for the evening. Her dessert unfortunately, you could make a better banana creme tart at home with jello pudding."

  • "Went w/four friends. Our server was attentive and quite knowledgeable about the menu, but didn't hover. Salads and baskets of warm bread (baked 2x daily, and replenished without our asking) arrived quickly, and plates were cleared promptly. The walleye, scallops and veal were excellent. There was no pressure on us to leave. Oscar's offers valet parking in the evenings, and this is useful. Parking lots are located to the north or east of the restaurant. Because of recent heavy snow, on the night we ate there, the front door was not accessible from the north lot unless you walked on High Street, beside parked cars -- a bit frightening at rush hour. All of us agreed that the food, service and ambiance make Oscar's a place we'll visit again."

  • "It's been a long time since I've dined here, and sorry to say that I don't think I'll be back. The food was just average, the space cramped and environment was nothing special."

  • "This is our date night spot! I highly recommend the Waleye and the balsamic salad! The staff is always great and the food never fails."

  • "We selected Oscar's because of their restaurant week menu which had a lot of great options. We were very impressed with the food. We ordered the filet mignon and tilapia. I also saw several entrees on their regular menu that I'd like to go back to try. The only negative I can see is that restaurant is fairly small and broken up into several small rooms so depending on where you are seated / size of your party it can feel a little cramped."

  • "We went to Oscar's for Columbus Restaurant Week and ordered from their prix fixe menu. Everything was delicious! The filet was phenomenal and the chocolate silk explosion was to die for. Lindsey was our server and she was wonderful: Very friendly and attentive, despite the busy Friday evening rush. Our only complaint was that our table was very close to another table and we kept bumping into other diners."

  • "Have been a patron since Oscar's opened. Have always loved the atmosphere and food until late. hostesses are disinterested, poorly attired. Often standing and twisting their hair! Are you kidding me? Touching hair in a restaurant! Waitress (Ellie) this last time, never introduces herself, no help with menu. Did not mention or explain restaurant week. Took our original order and drink and never came back to even ask if we wanted another drink. Food delivery people just literally "dropped" the food on the table, having to ask who got what. Tables are VERY close together. If a larger person is seated beside you, you will be dining WITH them. Food however was very good. Had the veal and tilapia. Will likely not be back"

  • "Wife and I really enjoyed Oscars vallet service nice, atmosphere cozy on cold night. Food solid service great. They had vallet, need at least two people to do right stood in cold for a while the kid was working his butt off!"

  • "A couple of my friends and I decided to try Oscars during restaurant week! I got the caesar salad, ribeye with yukon mashed potatoes, and some chocolate dessert. The caesar was very average, but the ribeye and mashed potatoes were delish!!! There was a sauce that lightly accompanied the ribeye and potatoes that was heavenly. Dessert, average. Overall, worth the money and the ambiance was great! Dimly lit, would recommend to those taking someone on a date!"

  • "Overall, this is a neighborhood gem. It is not pretentious, yet, you can get some very good food, at a reasonable price. Every time that I dine here, I say "we should put this in the rotation." The quality is very good, so this could be a special occasion place as well."

  • "We have eaten at Oscar's several times - usually about once a year. Every time we've been there, it's the same old drill - wait a half-hour or longer after our reservation time to be seated, then nearly a half-hour to get our food after we order. What's up with this? The food has always been good, but the service is in dire need of an upgrade. We have kept coming back, hoping that the management has corrected their issues, but apparently not. This may be the last time we go."

  • "It is a very nice restaurant. The food is Awesome. The noise level was high, we had to go to Starbucks to visit At a comfortable level. In all fairness it was Restaurant Week so it was crazy busy."
