  • "Great food and excellent service. I have been there many times and will go there many more."

  • "We checked out this place after hearing about it from friends. It exceeded our expectations. Great hostess, great servers, great margaritas and delicious food."

  • "If your idea of a good time is going out to eat at a place where you have to yell at the person next to you in order to be heard, then this is your kind of place. The service was friendly and reasonably prompt. The food was good. Unique in many ways. High end Mexican food, but to be honest, I came away feeling the food at Alfredo's ( and a number of other lower-profile Mexican Resturaunts) is better. I'm glad I went, because I enjoy trying out different places. But the price of doing so in this case was ringing ears for a while afterward."

  • "Even though it was busy we had great service! My friend had the house margarita & she loved it! The taquitos de la CASA are soooo yummy! And the best chips & salsa ever!!"

  • "We have always REALLY enjoyed coming to Ortega and always considered it a really special place for my husband and I to frequent! Now that we have added a baby to our family we were worried that we wouldn't be able to eat there as often as we would like. We however have come to find that every time we bring her with us that the staff accommodation for her makes it really easy to include her and now this is a date place for the whole family! We love the Poke style Tuna tacos! OMG Amazing!!! We also cant get enough of the Taquitos de la casa with the potatoes! Perfect combo for lent and Friday nights! Thank you to the whole Ortega staff!"

  • "the waiter was a nice guy but we had to waive him down a lot. the food was ok, but the ambience was way too noisy and we were sat at a dingy dirty looking table next to a television set hanging from the wall. The drinks were awful, the food ok."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "Very cute ambiance, they had a live band that night that was really good. They also have an outdoor patio that seems to be a little quieter than inside the restaurant. Food was just delicious, with large portions. Margaritas were yummy too! Service was nice but a bit slow."

  • "My coworkers and I went here to celebrate a birthday in our office. We got there at 12 and sat down quickly. The menu had a great lunch time special. I ordered the 3 sopes for $10, the sopes were amazing! I would strongly reccomend them! Although I felt the timing of getting could have been faster, it seemed there was only 1 waitress doing everything that morning. The place was not packed, as it had just opend 30 min prior to us arriving, so we didn't feel rushed or ignored. We were able to sit down, order, eat and return to our office in little more then an hour. I would go here again! Maybe next time I'll try going for their evening happy hour!"

  • "We had family in from Europe who were unfamiliar with most things on the menu. They loved everything especially the guacamole. Staff did a good job of being patient with us as it took a long time before we ordered. Nine people and everyone ordered something different. There's not a bad thing on the menu. Their pitchers of margaritas are the best you'll find in LA."

  • "Came to celebrate 15 years since my husband and I's first date. We have been here before and always enjoyed ourselves so we decided on this over some other choices. Our waitress was horrible. She rolled her eyes when we asked for water. Never brought us a carafe of water like other tables even though we told her we were big water drinkers. I wouldn't mind not getting one but when she seemed annoyed when we asked for water I would think it would be to her benefit to bring it to us. We ordered guacamole that we had to send back because it tasted bad. Other food was good. My husband didn't really like the rice which is surprising because in the past he loved it. Wish we would of had a better experience on our special night."

  • "We were very upset with the service. We never really had a server, were bounced around several people and most did not hand off any needs we had."

  • "Good place with some minor flaws. Loved the great service, but Mexican authenticity lacking... In short, it was a white washed Mexican restaurant... Nothig wrong with that, just not authentic. The theme was perfect... However, but due to the fact that I liked the set up- I raised the bar and had high expectations. The food was somewhat bland, lacking flavor that most offer; I understand the high class approach but it just isn't authentic...I'd recommend they remodel accordingly if so. I didn't care much for the food presentation... Pretty is not the word I look for when I thinking Mexican. Mexican food served on Japanese white sushi plates, just does not do it for me. ... Not a bad place, its just not what I expected."

  • "The food is wonderful; we have been several times and the food is very consistent along with service and drinks. They have the best margaritas; not sweet like the pre-bottled margarita mix. it is fresh! It does get busy on the weekends and it is recommended to make a reservation if you want to eat at a certain time."

  • "This restaurant is so noisy it is impossible to talk with anyone you are dining with. It is a great place to let kids run around, scream at the top of their lungs and just be annoying to the other patrons. Blame the parents on that. If you don't want to talk, then this is the place for you. Made reservations, but they didn't have a table ready so we had to wait, along with everyone else who came without reservations. That is annoying. I will say the service was good; the waiter attentive and on top of things. The food is ok; expensive and not really worth the price they charge."

  • "Given all the awards listed in the write up for this restaurant we were expecting much more. We sent back the mango/jicama salad because it was inedible---the acidic salad dressing drenched it and was pooled on the plate. The fish tacos were fine, but had so much slaw that you had to pull some off to eat them. The margaritas were fine. Nothing extraordinary and for me had too much of an orange juice taste; hard to believe these were voted the best margaritas. Sad because I picked the restaurant carefully and wanted us to like it so much. Not so much after all. Sad we didn't go to the less written up Mexican place down the street."

  • "I had hoped for an overall decent restaurant which includes not only good food but good ambience. It was way too noisy to have a conversation, and there was absolute no lighting at a corner table; I could not see my food while I was eating. . Also, the restaurant is incredibly over decorated with Day-of-the-Dead masks and similarly tehemed paintings everywhere; cement floors is OK for an outdoor patio, but not a good choice for an indoor restaurant. P.S. Don't use the bathroom if you can help it. The decibel level from the flush of the toilet will damage your ears."

  • "ive been going here since ortega opened but this was the first time my boyfriend has ever been here and let me tell you he was more than pleased! we made a reservation in advance so we were seated upon arrival. The service was great, the food was amazing, and the drinks were phenomenal! would recommend to anyone and definitely will be going back"

  • "The drinks were great but the food was delicious! The food has improved since the last time we came which over a year ago. The service was friendly and were on top of things. The entertainment was awesome!"

  • "Great food, service could be improved…waited a long time for food, refill on salsa, bill etc. Great band, but loud. If you want a fun, good food place, this is it. If you want more quiet, go elsewhere. Great margaritas!"

  • "Crowded, as usual, the Open Table reservation helped. Stacked bar scene and dining rooms that can accommodate 2- 20+, and there were a couple such tables each time I've gone! Homemade guacamole and chips to start were delicious. Incredible tequila list! Unbeatable variety! House margaritas are great. Wide variety of Entrees, all very plentiful and delicious. Perfectly seasoned. Servers are very busy but very attentive and helpful with food and drink, and tequilas, of course. I will definitely return!"

  • "We had not eaten here in a while. We were seated promptly but then said for 10 minutes without even being acknowledged. No water or chips. Once the waitress came over and took our order everything went a little smoother. The food here is still amazing but the service will probably keep us from coming back."

  • "I choose the restaurant for a group of 15. I even called a day before to confirm the reservation but when we got there 20 min late, they took the group reservation table back to normally setting so we had to wait for 10 min to be seated as a group. We left a few min late due to meeting running late and took us longer to get there. The waitress looked annoyed we showed up. There are only 2 servers. The service was so slow. I have never had sweet & sour tasting shrimp street tacos . . . not my thing. It turned out to be 2 hour lunch. Never go there again."

  • "Best food in the south bay. Always a delicious twist on Mexican dishes. The most amazing chili rellanos ever! Taco Tuesdays can be a bit noisy but it just seems like a party when you're there. I'll keep going back until I've tried everything on the menu."

  • "The food was delicious for everyone in my group of five and the margaritas were even better! The service was great and the decor and ambience were fun and authentic."

  • "Great menu and some of the best margaritas in the South Bay. Homemade tortillas are addicting. If making reservations be prepared to wait an additional 30+ minutes before you are seated. Hostesses were very unapologetic and rude."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "Great food, best House Margarita in the South Bay. You will want to buy the House Margarita pitcher. We love the Tour de Taco, and Mole de Pollo."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "The noise level was extreme! We were a party of 6 at a round table - two persons in our party were hard of hearing and could hear nothing because of the noise and the other 4 persons had to literarily yell at each other."

  • "Celebrated a birthday and everything was perfect. The food is amazing the staff is amazing."

  • "Love the food, service and margaritas but a bit noisy. Wish they would throw some rugs on the floor to capture some of the sound. Was thrilled that our reservation got us immediate service rather than having to wait like the others on a Friday night."
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "Everything was deeeelish! The Brussel Sprouts appetizer was amazing. And the short-ribs entree was perfection. Our server was very sweet and made great suggestions. Unfortunately the service fell short at the ongoing support of our table. I asked for tortillas as soon as we sat down. (my alternative to snacking on tortilla chips) Never got them. We weren't offered coffee or a desert menu. While my friends were ordering margaritas, water was my only beverage. It was only refilled once while we were there for 3 hours. Most of the time my water sat empty. She was hard to find when we needed her. Don't want to get her in trouble, hoping she gets some additional training. I will still be going to Ortega120 over and over again."

  • "This is an authentic Mexican restaurant, and the quality of the food is very high. The dishes are prepared in a very traditional way, with subtle Socal nuances here and there. Their corn tortillas are made in-house, and the Margaritas are quite refreshing, and you can actually taste real ingredients, and none of the prepared mixes one can find everywhere else. We'll gladly visit everytime we have a craving for Mexican!"

  • "The food was great, the baby back ribs were outstanding, but the waiter made the night with great recommendations and the right amount of space. Notwithstanding my review, this isn't a fantastic date spot."

  • "We were able to get a reservation just the day before. It fit perfectly with our plans to attend church, have a festive meal and then head home for a Christmas Video. The food was good and the servers were very friendly. We were a bit disappointed that they had already run out of tamales. It was also a bit noisy, but what restaurant isn't these days. I really like the day of the dead type of decor."

  • "We ate in the bar since we started with happy hour drinks and appetizer. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. She even had us taste a special drink they made for the night. I don't recall the name but it was a mocha color. We like it all! The chips, salsa, guacamole, margaritas, soft tacos and the meat dishes! Oh and I can't forget about the deserts!"
